范丁與師爺在街上遇到陸家姊妹，范丁深深被芙蓉吸引展現愛慕之意，強拉芙蓉回王府。范丁執意要答應親事，心急下失手將芙蓉勒死慌張不知如何是好，范丁聽從師爺建議，命案不可宣揚要趕緊毀屍滅跡，計畫將屍體一分為二，身首丟入後花園之八角琉璃井，並將井封住，頭首則是埋於芭蕉樹下，如此就算想要破命案，也要找出頭與身的屍體，以增加破案難度。秋霜闖進王府要找尋姐姐芙蓉，范丁騙秋霜芙蓉已經離開。秋霜因找不到姊姊，傷心不已昏倒，芙蓉託夢，要秋霜去找鐵面御史池逢春大人申冤。
