方應龍認為李家二郎李文華，將是他與李文斌往來的一大障礙，遂與胡令賢共同誣陷李文華，
使李文斌深信親弟意圖謀害他，一氣之下便把李文華趕出家門，露宿街頭。
楊氏得知，本欲出面攔阻，念頭一轉，暫時忍住怒氣，一邊靜觀其變，一邊思考對策。
此時，頓失所依的李文華在冬夜裡求助無門，只能暫時投靠鄰近經營小旅店的王婆，乞求王婆收留。
