朝廷每三年一期在長安大擺校場舉行武試，吸引各地武舉子到此比武以求取官位，這年黃巢和眾舉子抱持滿懷熱血至校場比武，都希望能求的一官半職，最終黃巢選中武狀元，在唐僖宗的旨意下，至後宮給朝陽正宮進行簪花儀式，不料朝陽正宮卻因看見黃巢面貌而嚇得暈倒。
