About this episode
窮苦書生周欽，父母不幸雙亡，其父曾與金相爺兩家指腹訂親，金府相爺之女金牡丹乃是周欽未婚妻。周欽被迫到金府認親，不想相爺嫌貧愛富，讓周欽住在後花園攻讀詩書，沒考到金榜，便要將他趕出府，在這期間內不可提起婚事。金府後花園潭中住著千年鯉魚精，因看不慣金府上下的作為，對周欽產生憐愛之情，變作金牡丹的模樣，每晚與周欽詩詞相會。
