法海的弟子法明未將白蛇白素貞看守著，讓採藥童子誤放了白素貞下山，如來佛祖為懲罰採藥童子，將他貶為凡人打進千年輪迴，並命法海、法明下凡收蛇妖；經過千年輪迴後，採藥童子已化名為許漢文，白素貞為向許漢文報恩，決定下山尋找許漢文，路途中遇上了青蛇大仙阻擋，兩人打賭，青蛇大仙戰敗，因此化成女身(小青)，以姊妹相稱，與白素貞一同下山。
