on the road to WrestleMania. We are here via the Icapro Power Delorean on our very own road to WrestleMania that might feature one of the most infamous boxes of all time. Oh, and bless it, he is infamous. And sometimes it asks, who be we? I'll be fake Jordy Radio presenter with that Portfolio Tom Campbell joined, by the Mulligan to battle her around a monk just hanging all under, I do Jackie A. E. Paul. How you doing, Tonneau is yes, I'll read. The day we're recording this, it's World Book Day and I have to ask you, what do you have on your books? I like a bit of lemon and sugar. Ha ha ha. I like a little bit of Biscoph on my books. A bit of Biscoph on his books. A bit of Biscoph on my books. The last time I celebrated World Book Day was about, oh gosh, it would have been, during my days working for the radio, in which I came to work dressed as the yellow pages. The greatest book known to man. What's your favorite wrestling book?
Oh, it's mankind, have a nice day, isn't it? Yeah, it's a great book, isn't it? Like written, based on what he says in the book, like written down on like scraps of note paper whilst on long haul flights in hand writing, it's just the old fashioned way. It's the only wrestling book I've read more than once. I've read a few actually, but that's the only one I've read more than once because just every couple of years, I'm just like, oh, I want to go read, live, Mick Foley's, try some tribulations, WCW, ECW, the BWF, I'm beyond. That's a, it's a good book. I can also recommend Big Daddy vs Giant Haystacks by Stephen Bell. Of course you can. Which is out soon. Featured contributing contributor, Tom Gabel from the wrestling. There he is. And the guys in wrestling made do the forward as well. Mark Haynes from wrestling made does the forward as well. And it genuinely, it's a really good book. It's a wonderfully researched book.
And it is tells you about the glory days of British wrestling and how Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks become the draws they were and how they departure from the scene caused a ripple effect that it took decades to recover from. It's a really, really good book. Can highly recommend on this, on this World Book Day, but you're listening to it several days removed from World Book Day. Everyday's World Book Day, if you're passionate enough Tom. That's it. Everyday's World Book Day, if you're brave enough. I am, so for today's podcast, I am, I'm on a diet. I'm in a calorie deficit this week. So I am making sure that I am moving more than I am eating. That is the key to dieting, so I'm told. So I've been very good with my food this week, but I've been drinking more, not alcohol, just up in my drinking. I just thought, normally I'd eat garbage at lunchtime and I've been very good, but I just thought for a little bit of fun. I would go to the Whole Foods place around the corner
from where we work. You know it well, Ernest. Yes, yes, yes, very good job. I bought some soft drinks from there to enjoy during our conversations today. And a right mixture of them, we're going to start with you and I, kombucha. Oh, what a favorite kombucha have you got? Ginger. Very good. Is a ginger, you and I, kombucha. That's why he's not even taking a sip, he's swigging it straight down. That's disgusting. Yeah. Kombucha, yeah. Well, it's a bit like it's a bit like it's a bit like ice-chilled medicine. Yeah, kombucha is one of those that I've only ever had one that I liked because it's a fermented drink and as a man who's never partake in alcohol, my tongue is not used to fermented drinks. So when I first had it, it was like, it's like more than that. And people are like, bought it, it'll help you poo. And we're just like, oh, you know, you've got to,
you've got to take the hard with the soft. Hopefully, it will be at the other end. Right, tell what is hard. Anything else that you will, I'll buy anything else happening in your world this week. I've been very rude. Got a very obsessive about kombucha. No, it's okay. The sun's been shining. We've been regular on the Toils. Haven't we both, you have your kombucha, me with my black coffee? You know, it's a beautiful world we're living. It is beautiful world that we live in. Okay, but your world is more beautiful because you go to the trouble of emailing us. Classic at cultaholic.com. If you want to say hello to the classic raw review or any of the classic reviews as a matter of fact, Bertie writes in saying, greetings, Tom and Jackie. There is one question that has been keeping me up all night and distracting me during the day to the point where it's taken over every aspect of my life. The only people that can answer this is you find chaps.
So please, I must ask, do you think Kane could eat pom bears? I believe that there will be no issues with the width, but it's the length that might pose a problem for Kane. And if he's able to eat them, what flavor would he prefer? She's an onion, barbecue, or the original salted of the red tea. Hope you're both doing well. Thank you for always bringing the much easier laughs on the podcast from Bertie. It's a good job, Davey has got to the other side now that Kane has arrived. We don't want Kane attempting to eat any of his lunches behind his back at a very valid point, Bertie. Well, thank you for your email, Bertie. I think Davey would be okay because as we all know, he consists on a diet of pie and pie would be very difficult for Kane to eat. As for pom bear, I think he could, I think he could. If you turned it the right way, it depends. Obviously you got the ones that waved, the ones with the arms out. It's a specific pom bear he'd be able to eat. And I think he'd go for a redly salted
because he likes the color red. Okay, he just sees red. A delicious flavor of pom bear. It's a flavor crisp. I'm not usually asked about and I'm bought by accident ones in Germany. Tomato ketchup flavored pom bear. Oh, ridiculously nice, very tangy. Oh, you filthy animal, you. Yeah, that's a nice shout. That is a lovely shout. Yeah, so I might even suggest that Kane might like a tomato. Tomato ketchup flavored pom bear. He might do. The packet was green. I thought I was buying cheese and onion and despite the fact that it didn't say what Kai's onion on the front, I was just like, I must have cheesed onion this. I can't believe that you haven't wared for cheese. Look, suspiciously. I think I should have wared for tomato. I better have this, just in case. I've got silly Europeans. Oh, you're weird language. Uh, this is a book, this is your foreign book, take your tomato, pom bears and shove them up your commonwealth.
Uh, the subject of what crisps cane could eat through his tiny little flap has been one that has been raging in our emails for a while. Um, Jack writes cane can eat kettle chips or a debit card. Um, I don't think we'd want him eating a debit card. Uh, kettle chips, they come in various sizes and shapes. It would be a bit of a crap shoot because I think cane would want some consistency. He would want to know that whatever crisp he or snack he reached for was definitely going to fit. I've had some really big kettle chips that I just think now thinking back to them. I don't think it would fit in cane's mouth. No, I've just been taking aside there because obviously you're recording a different studio to usual as, uh, Patreon subscribers will see there's a cane mask above your shoulder. There is a cane mask above my shoulder.
Oh, there is. So obviously it's not a leather cane mask, but we'll definitely be able to get a sense for the width if not the actual opening itself. Yeah, because it is open. Hello, cane. This is such a treat for the audiences. It's like he's in the room. It's like seven and I am terrified again. Pop a little, pop a little walker square in there. I like the idea though of cane eating a debit card. Like poor bear is talking to the pub. He's like, see my lad. He's mad. You'll eat anything. Eat this cane. I like the poor bear is taking cane to the pub. It's like a little party trick. Yeah, we're putting back. Oh, no. And well, cane died.
That's a shame. Luckily, we still have the combated forces of El Santo, Tiger Mask, Mill Mascaras and Rey Mysterio Jr. La Parque, Nightmare Blunt Rotation, that Jesus. That really is. Jack also wrote, or he could take his mask off. Jack, that's no fun. No, it's no fun, Jack. No fun. His mouth's all burnt. So he can't actually open it more than he can in the mask anyway. So he's got the same mouth as he has. Masquerade. Tastes the mask off and it still does a slit. Perfectly sized to fit the mask. And a aid in in Scotland rights. Assuming that cane physically cannot take his mask off. And that's why he can only eat certain foods. His quality of life must be terrible. Imagine going on holiday with Katie Vic and being unable to kiss her as they relax by the pool. So he just licks her with the tiny bit of tug that he can get through the mask. He then tries to blow up on it, flatable, which he obviously can't do.
He would then get back to his room and try to write poor bearer a postcard, which he puts in an envelope that takes a long time to fully lick the seal because of the minuscule surface area of the tip of his tongue. They would go and get something to eat. And whilst Katie's having some lovely continental food, cane is eating fruits and dry corn flakes. He then starts to cry, which floods his mask. You say this is if you were there in the same resort complex in Spain. Anyway, Aiden, that is highly, highly unlikely. And that is a ludicrous exaggeration of pieces because as we all know, you don't need to put a postcard in an envelope. Oh, God, yeah. Your boob. Yeah, but you feel silly now. But you feel like a fucking idiot, Aiden. Thank you. Thank you, Aiden.
Classic at Coltaholic.com. If you want to say hello and suggest things, the cane could eat through the tiny slit in his face. We'll do more next week. Meanwhile, in the real world, in this particular week, the second of February, commencing 1998, it's the debut of the Pepsi chart show on Channel 5. Oh, is this with Dr Fox? No, this is pre-Dr Fox. This is Rona Metra, AKA Lara Croft, IRL, and Eddie Temple Morris. What a weird combination. That is like, they'd had, they'd had two names in bowls, and they just picked them out of the, out of the bowl. And they're like, just for prosperity, let's see who the next two would have been. Judith Charmers, okay, and Terry Wogan. All right, well, we're going first, too. It's fine. Next two would have been Malcolm X, and Mr. Robbie, okay.
That's fine, too. That would have been all good. This week, Stamps commemorating Diana, the Princess of Wales, go on sale in Britain, as because obviously she passed away last year, so now they're getting stamps. It's a big thing that I think we have forgotten about in the rise of, of electronic communication, how the stamp is slowly dying out. And there was something special about when you had somebody as a commemorative stamp. It was a real mark that you had made a mark on British culture for you to have your own stamp. I tell you who'll be happy about the decline of stamps. Kane, that's sick. He's like, yeah, I've forgotten. Now he's fine to lick a stamp. Yeah, but still, it still takes a very long time. It's still annoying for him. Because then he gets it stuck to his mask. He's got stamps all over it. I've tried to send a letter. I've tried to send a postcard, apparently.
Kane, you don't need to put a postcard in an envelope. Oh, Aladdin from Scotland said I had to. He's fucking idiot. You're not at all, Aiden. We love you, dearly. I was one more for this week. An Anarchist group from Europe claim responsibility for throwing a pie at Microsoft Chairman and CEO Bill Gates this Wednesday. Oh, what kind of party? Because it might have obviously been in English, but I'm just like, oh, I like a meat and potato as opposed to a like a kidney. Stitch this, you bastard. Yeah, as opposed to probably just cream on a plate. Yeah, it was a cream pie. It had occurred in Brussels as Bill Gates was walking from a car towards a hall for a conference speech. All the government and business leaders were going to be there. And he was like, oh, I hope nothing gets on my suit on the walk from the car to the hall. And then lo and behold, big pie in his face thrown by Noel Godin, the leader of Lang Tarteur, which is French for the pie man.
He claimed responsibility for the attack and was dismissed because he was dismayed and was dismayed by Gates. It's very humble reaction to it. He was hoping they get very, very cross a group. Yeah, a group based at a Belgium makes it a practice of targeting public figures with pranks. This is a statement from Microsoft. They are notorious for throwing pies for publicity and possibly even for commercial profit to sell pictures or video. Bill was able to laugh it off. Unfortunately, clean up and move on. And they were very annoyed because they hope to get really cross. Yeah, I think what they've done there is they've got Bill Gates confused with Steve Jobs. Bill Gates famously placid man, Steve Jobs famous asshole. You only got Steve Jobs. He would have been threatened to better them on the streets probably. Yeah, you got the wrong internet monster. You got Bill Gates instead of afraid. But he went to the conference with pie on his face. Tell you someone who sometimes gets egg on their face, Jackie Orlando. That would be Dave Meltzer because he sometimes gets a thing not quite right.
And he is where we turn now for what has been going on in the world of wrestling. This week in the year of our Lord 1998. And as Jackie Orlando talks us and walks us through the wrestling observer for this week, I shall be enjoying a can of trip CBD infused peach ginger lightly sparkling. Yes, you'll have to let us know how that is as I thumb through what is quite a lean addition of the wrestling observer newsletter dated February the 9th 1998. So as we saw recently, we've had the Royal Rumble, sorry Tom's taken his first absolute swig. He doesn't even sit just full swig. That's nicer than the combo. Yeah, nicer, nicer. You still don't look sure. We have five. So we've recently had the Royal Rumble. And as Dave's put here, Sean Michaels, he wouldn't be in line to do a job on pay-per-view about an injury cropping up now, would he? After taking a dangerous backdrop over the top rope with his lower back, cracking on the casket of the Royal Rumble and basically the very first spot of the match,
Michaels mischows the weekend of the Super Bowl, complaining that as the week went on, his back had stiffened up. This past week, Michaels doctors sent word to WWF, they had a variety of ailments, including a bruised kidney, a slightly separated shoulder, both hips out of alignment, a sprained foot, vertebraed as back out of alignment, not to mention a worsening of his chronic knee problems. Michaels, along with Vader for reasons mentioned last week, aka you dropped on his foot by Kane, Michaels and Vader were pulled from all how-show bookings for at least the next month with the exception of the February 15th no way out pay-per-view, since it's an 8-man tag, which Michaels' participation can be limited, causing all the cards to have to be reworked. So the observer have no word as to when Michaels will return, as far as working how-show matches, spoiler, he won't. But the belief from this end is it would be smart to keep out of the ring, except where necessary until Wrestlemania, so you can't come up with another late injury to keep him off the show, and thus finding a way to not have to drop the title. With Undertaker also out of action and Austin working in more limited schedule,
it means in some of the smaller cities that all three of the WWF's top draws won't be appearing on the shows. However, business for both WWF and WCW is so incredible at this point, it doesn't seem to matter, if WWF selling out four of its five weekend dates a few well in advance, the first two of which didn't include any of the big three. So I do kind of feel sorry for sure, Michaels, he's built up such a boy who cried wolf reputation of being a little shit who conveniently gets injuries, where he has to lose lose a match. This time he's actually fucked his back, everyone's like, sure, you're a dickhead, and he's like, no, I won't be able to wrestle for four years, like, oh yeah, probably one not bad. Tell me a lie, prick, yeah. But yeah, as we know with hindsight, 2002, he comes back to, yeah. Yeah, it's going to be like a good while until he's back in the ring, like, yeah, no, no, no, no, no, yeah, five, half a decade before we see for Michaels again, properly, and even then it starts off quite limited sort of dip a toe in the water and see how you go. But yeah, he is properly, as it stands, as you say, this eight-man tag,
it's set to feature him, but it's, that's rectified very last minute in a terrible way, in a terrible way, but a way that watching weeks to week makes a little bit of sense, you can see the idea behind it, but in reality, it's dog shit. We'll talk about that when we get to no way out, but yeah, there's literally one match left on sure Michaels cage match for the 90s, at least what official match in WWF. Yes, yeah, well, yeah, I don't think it's a Texas wrestling academy in 2000. He has a little quick go. Oh, I thought it was late 99 for some reason, I stand corrected around around the two around the turn of the millennium. Someone who's going to enjoy a very nice turn, the millennium is Ahmed Johnson, who was there we go. I shouldn't be so glib because Ahmed Johnson has once again been hospitalized the morning of February the second. He collapsed on the airplane in Indianapolis due to dehydration. He did appear in change corner
at the taping, but probably we'll be out of action for a few days. This is his cursed Ahmed Johnson at this point, isn't he? The dehydration on the plane. Why is he like my brain goes? Why is he not drinking? Did I do get kombucha down him? Turn up with a blue bag full of drink. I just walk onto the plane and be like, no, this is me for the next two hours. Yeah, he is cursed is Ahmed. He will make it to say he will be on Raw tonight and he will make it to the pay per view. But he is in such a limited role nowadays and that ain't becoming any less limited. Yeah, it's a shame, isn't there? Talking of where Ahmed Johnson called it end up, who knows? We go over to WCW. I won't be free this in because the law of this podcast needs
this. So virtually all attacks are shows this week were sell out in advance. 1998, the WCW still doing gangbusters. The main event was scheduled as Flair versus Caird Henig, where Henig was not there after getting his knee scoped. The original replacement was to be Bret Hart. Eric Bischoff overruled that feeling that Hart should be treated the same as Hogan and he never sent Hogan to work in Abelene and Midland so Hart shouldn't either. So the compromise was Flair ended up facing Bulldog. Right. Bret Hart is too good for these shows. Davey get in there. He's like, I love wrestling, mate. Oh, I'm fighting bunny land now. Hello, natural boy. How are you? Where'd you get your bathroom problem? Because I'd love one of them. That lovely getting out of the bath. I like your hair in the way. It's kind of like a little boy's ball cup, but may I suggest
breads? I would love a Bulldog promo on Rick Flair because I'd know in my heart. He would go, you're listening to me, Nietzsche. You all listen to me, RSPB. Yeah, bastard. You have not been protecting the birds. So I will protect you in a match in the WCW House show. You're a big twat. You're a big twat. You're a big twat. So I could have been a big twat. We got over to all Japan and Kekekabashi. Bruce Richard was really high on. Kekekabashi said this week he'd like to go to the WWF over the summer to work with Vader who he met when both were at the FMW Kawasaki stadium show. My clever way in bars are saying that will never fucking have it. Magic Kekekabashi versus Vader at Sawaswab.
Fucking hell. We don't deserve it. We don't deserve it. We don't deserve it. We don't deserve it. We do not work in deserve it. Well, yeah. But that is everything from the observer this week. It was a very, very thin dish. Wow, lean and mean. A bit like a Jackie Orlando. Oh, thanks, I remember. Well, I'm definitely mean. I'll tell you that. Oh, I'll give a shout out, by the way, to a wrestler that I met during my resting tour through the weekend. Indigo Jones, who basically looks like your son. I sent you a photo of the man that looks like your son. You sent me, you sent me, you sent me just the photo first about the caption. I was just like, he could be mistaken for me looking a little like me. The two is like a dot, dot, dot, a foul just son. I was like, oh, there he is. The way he was. I'm glad I'm the sort of person that doesn't blink. I thought I was just going up to someone that they barely know. I'm going to try to just take a picture of you because you look like someone I know. Yeah, pretty much. That wasn't the only thing you sent me
because you sent me a, the most delightful Tom Tostona that I've ever seen. Yes. It's a good card. If the slammasters wrestling and, uh, and cracked, uh, one of the, of all the stunners in the world, that, that was one of them. I thought it was a decent stunner. You know what? You've been all been very polite because I sent it to Matthew Greg and I went, look, if you, if you're short on content for botchomania, then, then please feel free to use my awful stunner on Luca, Luca Romeo. And, uh, and he said, that was a good stunner. I said, oh, fair enough. I did. I thought it was shit. Maybe I was gone. That was a good stunner. Tell you're a nice man because you're with the kick by a mile, but the stunner was good. Yeah, the kick I fucking with, but the stunner was delightful. What a, honestly, what a lovely bunch in Wales. What a lovely bunch. Okay. Great. A great gang of coca lots as we famously say. They are great gang of coconuts. I'm hoping to, to return to Wales a few times this year or being well,
because I'd like to become a Welsh cake mule for the northeast of England. There's a lovely Welsh cake shop near the venue called fabulous. And the queue was out the door to get Welsh cakes. Oh, it's about 35 quid in there. 35 notes in there. Welsh cakes or as they call them whales. Cakes. They call them us cakes. Hello, Roxy. Can I have a bag of us cakes? Thank you. Like a bag of cakes. It's just like, what's the venue? It's somebody come and go, it's like a Welsh cake. It's like, oh, it's nice to be here. It's a bollak end of where I live, normally, but it's nice to be here. I was the person who gave you a Welsh cake. Was it Sir Tom Jones? It was Tom Jones. Yeah. It was, it was St David. He was like, I have some daffodils on a Welsh cake and a bit of cheese on toast. And he was like, this is, this is the valley's a beautiful today. Beautiful. It was, and the show was on St David's day. So I learned a little bit of Welsh for them. I did a little bit of an outing in Welsh.
Very nice. Because I'm half Welsh. Yeah. On my Nanny Doris's side, who got a chant, that made me happy. Nanny Doris. It was a Nanny Doris chant for my dad, who has the most well-sounding name you could ever imagine. Gwendolyn Price. Oh, that's quite good. My, my Welsh man was Mary Holloway. Oh, that's quite well as two. Yeah. Nanny Holloway. I feel like Mary Holloway and Gwendolyn Price were, uh, would trouble. Wait a moment in the back again. Wait till Anne Holloway turned up. Oh, she was a medicine. Oh, and then the band of the Holloway's. A Norman Price for five and seven. Norman. Where's Ponty Pandy from here? Did ask. Apparently I offended somebody. Okay. So we moved to Monty Night Raw. It is the 2nd of February, 1998. And they've had a couple of days to react to the big story that we talked about in the news last week, which was Bill Clinton and Monika Lewinsky.
So there were claims made that there was some Nordiness going on between Monika Lewinsky, who was an assistant to Bill Clinton, the president from off of America. And there was lots of claims made about it. The pot where Bill Clinton came out and made a statement to the American people, which he said he did not have sexual relations with that woman. Very clear, very clear on that. This week's episode of Raw opens with a parody of this statement in a DX special report. We hear a little bit of, was it Hale to the King? Hale to the Chief? Is it Hale to the Chief? Oh, which is the one that goes dead? It's Hale to the Chief. Yeah. So Sean Michaels opens it by saying, good evening, my fellow Americans. This past week,
the generation X was informed that TSN star TV Sky Sports. And USA Network is drawing the line on standards and practices as it relates to WWF programming and generation X. In the future, we need to be careful of what we do and what we don't do. Again, DX gets in trouble every time we do something gratuitously. Therefore, the following standards and practices that DX promises to adhere to are, and then Triple H jumps in from the hours of 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. We will only use the worst ass, damn, and hell. We will never, however, use the words shit, not saying that, fuck Jesus Christ, goddamn or any other racial or sexual slurs. From 10 p.m. to 11 p.m., we will only use the words ass, damn, hell, and bitch. We will never, however, use the words shit, fuck, goddamn Jesus Christ. Not saying that one or any other racial or sexual slurs.
Now that as it pertains to video, we promise there will be less dick references to which Michael's jumps in and goes, oh shit. And Triple H says, watch your fucking mouth and Sean goes, whoa, fuck me. Triple H can't damn it, fuck. Anyway, there will be less references to our enormous genitalia. Sean jumps in going, oh, and one last thing, even though many of you believe it, currently the favorite pastime in the oral office is to, is to play swallow the leader. I did not, I repeat, I did not sleep with that young intern. As a matter of fact, I was a bull, no, ha, ha, ha, ha. Larity ensues, heavily censored promo at the start of Raw. There is an uncensored version on the degeneration X VHS release. And it's if you wanted to hear the full thing, you can get the video. I thought this was a lot of fun to start the show. The right people to start the show as well, wouldn't it?
Yes, as we said last week, when the news broke about Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, this is a very hot news story and get your jokes in while they're still funny and fresh, because people will be doing these jokes for the next fucking 10 bastard years. And like you said, the perfect people to do it, it was funny. Obviously, I was the censored version, which, because I didn't know what they were saying, it left more to the imagination. So when they did come out and say, we will not use any other sexual or racial slayers, I was like, what sexual or racial slayers have you been saying, Lads? Let's we forget what you spray-pated in the nation, the domination's locker room after all. Fuck me. Oh, that was the thing, yes. But I thought this was good. It was good open. It was funny. It was actually quite funny. Very juvenile way it was funny. But they are juvenile people. So it was absolutely the right way to go. And that brings us to Monday Night Raw, to which I now open up my can of karma drinks
organic karma cola. Oh, I like karma cola. This is there's nothing artificial in this crisp organic cola and it tastes even sweeter for supporting our cola-grower communities in Sierra Leone. So I am supporting Sierra Leoneans by enjoying a lovely karma cola. Again, a big spray. Oh, tastes like cola ice lollipops that you get in the summer. It's like them. Yeah. The nice thing, the lemon drink lemon-y is also good. Oh, I did not get a lemon-y sadly. It's got a little shaggy of a lemon on the can, clicking his fingers and whistling. I'm just like, he's a heaver. I could see it and I thought, what a fucking shaggy of that lemon looks. We all thought it. We all thought it. This has just got like a lady angel on it, going drink coke cola, not coke cola. It's karma cola.
Raw continues the presidential theme as DX dressed in Uncle Sam attire, head to the ring as red, white and blue balloons fall from the ceiling. They will be the bane of my fucking existence throughout this entire episode of Raw, because they dropped thousands of balloons on the crowd. And the crowd go, oh, a balloon. Wouldn't it be funny if a pop one? They all say that. And throughout the night, you just still hear even to the very end of the night, balloons getting popped on this episode of Raw. It's like they set all the cameras up next to one fellow, just making a big massive pan of popcorn. It did sound like that. Sean and trips are out and they're pushing for Tyson and Austin to have their match at WrestleMania, getting chance of let them fight, let them fight, uh, luring out across the arena as the balloons are fucking popping. Steve Austin then comes out. He goes nose to nose with Sean Michaels for the very first time since winning the Royal Rumble. He appreciates Michael's passion for the Austin
Tyson fight. But because he won the Royal Rumble, Steve Austin says Sean Michaels asks, still belongs to Stone Cold Steve Austin, whether it happens at WrestleMania today or whenever that damn belt is coming with Stone Cold, whether you like it or not. We see Sean and trip staring intently at Steve Austin and Austin leaves with both of them staring on at him. This was there was one big thing that I noticed about DX during this promo and I wonder whether Jackie Orlando noticed it too. Was it the t-shirts they were wearing? I don't think it was. What was the t-shirts? Well, they've got two degeneration X t-shirts, they've got the kind of red blobby one that looks a bit like a Nickelodeon logo and the classic degeneration X logo t-shirts. No, what did you notice Tom? I noticed that for the first time in I think a million years. Sean Michaels and Triple H looked at someone else on the roster and
looked genuinely concerned about them. Yes, they did. They did. That is true. That is true. Just even the undertaker they're going, oh, spoopy scary. Oh, in heart, we made a make come back to avenge his brother. Oh, you're a poo in the toilet. We're going to beat you up anyway. Everybody that they've come face to face with they're just like, you are rubbish. We are great. Except Steve Austin who Sean genuinely looked very serious with as did Triple H. The fun stopped when Steve Austin came out. And yeah, now that you've said it, the penny hadn't dropped until then but it made for an effective segment because like he said, I really liked this as well. It was a good hot open. The crowd looked and sounded amazing. This what the arena they're in is just basically one large tier. So there's just a wall of people behind it and it all feels quite close to the ring. So it's like on top of the wrestlers. But the way that they've turned this angle round from
Austin versus Tyson and like Michaels be like, oh, yeah, go for that to bring in a background. So it's like a match I think's been done really well, really well. Really, really well. Tonight Steve Austin will go one-on-one with a road dog in our main event. We'll make you wait for that and it'll be worth the wait. And Owen Hart is defending the European title against Billy Gunn a little later tonight as well. Our opening contest though is a tag team colliding as chainsaw Charlie faces Cactus Jack. Like, oh, what are we? What? Why is this a thing? Well, earlier today JR had a lovely chat with Mick Foley and and and Terry Funk. Funny how Mick Foley was positioned next to JR and Terry Funk was like a couple of rows back leaning in. Mick Foley recalls a conversation that he had with somebody in wrestling who told him he would be in a wheelchair by the time he was 30. I believe this person was Rick Flair. I've thought is he talking about Rick Flair as well? Yes, there was a whole there was a thing
where the Cactus took a bump onto the floor and Flair for some reason just got really raggy with with Cactus about it and just screamed at him. But Foley, Mick Foley goes on to say that he loves through love, but he actually wants to be remembered for however long his career is as Cactus Jack. Terry Funk then says tonight match between Cactus Jack and chainsaw Charlie is to determine the king of the hard cause. Terry loves Mick like his own son, but he won't tonight. Thoughts on the setup for this one, Jackie Orlando. It's it's an odd one. I like the storyline reasons of them being like, yeah, we love each other, but you know, fuck it. Let's let's let's have a match. I'm all fine with that as long as it's explained, but it's odd seeing Mick Foley as Mick Foley at this point because like we said, you know, we've only just really gotten the first glimpses of Cactus Jack. We had a nice little run of dude love mankind just starting to evolve. It's weird seeing him out of character. It's even weirder. The fact that Mick Foley here is like,
yeah, I'm 32 years old. I'm just like Jesus Christ on a bike. The fact that he looks older at 32 and still able to walk. He looks older there than he does next to you and I. It's mad, isn't it? He just it shows you what that style does, but look, he's still alive. He's not dead by 30. He's not dead by 30s. Fuck you. Rick Flair. Yeah, it's it's different. You can tell we're heading more into the Russo era of TV in you know, we're starting to pull the care and back a little bit as we will do throughout the night, but yeah, I'm not sure how I felt about this. What about you? I thought it was fine. They kind of tease that it was something last week when they were sat in the ring together, having a chat. Yeah, which I thought was quite interesting. It's more they we will fit we will learn why they had it because it's to get to a certain point in a creative manner. But I thought the
way they kind of did it was fine. I think they're establishing that Chainsaw Charlie and Captain Jack are also Terry Funk and Mick Foley, which is in keeping with this new style. This this as you say, the Vince Russo era of of wrestling writing is upon us. Yeah, where where the curtain and tonight is one of those nights as we're about to see where the curtain really does get pull back on on the world of wrestling. So we get to the match. It's Chainsaw Charlie versus cactus Jack. Chainsaw Charlie comes out with a dustbin full of weapons and cactus Jack gazobs him by bringing out a dumpster full of weapons. So here comes cactus with the big old dumpster. A lovely blue dumpster as well. Yes, it is a sanitation worker's dream top. People do love it. The word dumpster, by the way, was first used commercially in 1936. It came from the dumpster dumpster system of mechanically loading the contents of containers
onto garbage trucks patented by the dumpster brothers in 1935. They were called dumpsters, which is a blending of the company name, dumpster brothers, with the word dump. Nice nice nice nice lot of dumps on the podcast as usual. As usual, we bring a big load of dump. So that's why they're called dumpsters because it's based on the on the on the the the first users commercially, the patenters, the dumpster brothers. So had it been the Williams brothers, they might have been called dumpyums. I feel you guys say, dumpsters, if they've been invented by Jackie Orlando's fathers, they would have been called dump bandos. Oh, that sounds like a delicious delicious restaurant. If it were made by my father's father's father's, it would have been dump bells. Put out your bins and get muskly as you do it. So the match starts on the ramp. Cactus,
it's chainsaw double arm DDT for a lovely near fault early on. Suplex, a ladder onto funk does cactus. He then goes for a suplex and they instead inside cradle, each other all the way down the ramp. It's like a rolling ball from Indiana Jones. What there's two people with a combined age of about 17 at this point. It's very young. In the ring, cactus bounces bins off Charlie's head. He invites chainsaw Charlie to the same to him. Charlie's head and Charlie's head ends up in a bin to which cactus jack pile drives him with the bin on his head. I've never seen the spot before or since. Now, never seen it for or since. So chainsaw Charlie's heads in the bin, cactus jack picks up puts him somewhat between the legs and pile drives the bin with his head in it, which theory probably shouldn't have hurt as much. Yeah, it's a weird one that it was awkward. The rules of restaurant suggested it's devastating. In reality, it probably didn't hurt at
all, but the margin of error must have been very slim on this one, Jesus. After the break, they are back on the ramp where cactus backdrops Charlie off a table into the dumpster. Jack incapacitates Charlie with a mandible claw. He then climbs up onto the Titan Tron and hits an elbow drop onto Charlie in the dumpster and both are now in the dumpster. But here come the new age outlaws road dog and Billy gun who beat up cactus and chainsaw last week. They're here and they lock the dumpster shots. Gun wants to wheel it down the ramp, but road dog has another idea. And lo and behold, they do it. Billy and road dog push the dumpster towards the edge of the ramp and they send it flying off the stage. JR screaming an amazing call. Good God, there's people in there. And then as gun and dog like did a little little star jump to celebrate, you hear JR
go, what the hell is so great about that? It's incredible. The locker room empties and they rush to open the dumpster which luckily is full of packing peanuts. Heels and faces all merge to add some of that their realism that the kids are talking about. And we got Terry funk inside the dumpster screaming in pain. Vince McMahon comes out as road dog and Billy gun are sort of plead in their case. I don't know what there is to defend. You push the dump, you on television, push the dumpster off the side. I don't know how you could defend it. We slipped with a mean to an ambulance arrives to take them away. And we get Terry funk convulsing in the dumpster before he's put on there. After the break, we see cactus jack and chainsaw Charlie taken out on stretchers. So this has gone over an ad break and we come back. And there is still all this chaos around the entrance way as the wrestlers gather. Sonny is is crying hysterically. And she's very upset by all of this.
As is flash funk who fucking goes for road dog and Billy gun and it's held back. Eventually everybody gets stuck in and there's a big old brawl where road dog and Billy gun get fucking battered. They managed to get away, fight their way away from the scene. JR saying that the outlaws went too far trying to get over. He then explains wrestling parlance to the audience at home by what he means to get over. I mean, do something that helps them appear in the spotlight. Michael Cole also references how what we're seeing looks like wrestlers caught, which of course is another bit of inside a knowledge where if there's if there's misbehaving in the locker room, the locker room will in theory police themselves hold a wrestlers court and bring them to justice for it. Cactus and chainsaw loaded into separate ambulances supported by baby faces and heels are like as they go. This whole thing took over multiple ad breaks and and and just was a was certainly
something different to what we'd be seeing kind of cast my mind back to late ninety far late ninety six. When sure Michaels had his quote, quote, concussion blacked out and they had several breaks where there was no commentary as they put him on a stretcher and led him and took him away similar to that, but far more antagonistic like a powder keg type situation, which did eventually go off. Thoughts on the match thoughts on the moment. Looked at all. I've got very fond memories of this from childhood at this point as well. This is the most extreme moment in raw history arguably. It put over the outlaws huge as violent chaotic rats. The match itself was a lot of fun. Like we said, peeling back the curtain. Usually I'm not one for a locker room clear out because it suggests that all the storylines are in fact storylines, but this is real life and the only
bit of this I didn't like is you had Barry Wyndham and Bradshaw out there and they were just like, oh, all this concern, we don't hate each other right now, but later on we will and but apart from that, I thought it was effective. Obviously flash funk, you know, if you know your onions and ECW guys would make sense why he'd be pissed off about it. And like you said, everyone go in for the outlaws. Yeah, I really liked it. I feel it gets forgotten now because obviously when we get to what June 98 with the hell in the cell and of a moment involving Foley, which is more extreme and more graphic, I think this gets a little forgotten to history, but I really enjoyed it. What about you? Really, I loved it really well put together. I told a great story and it kind of shifted your your emotion really well because we were watching Cactus and Jack and Chainsaw Charlie have this cracker of a hardcore match and then all of a sudden it took like 90 seconds for the mood to change and suddenly it's road dog and Billy gun shoving this dumpster off of the stage.
It's one of these spots I love because for the talent, it's real, it's as safe as it can be. It's not without its issues, but when they opened up the dumpster and I saw all those packing peanuts in there, all that packaging material, I thought, okay, they were they were probably as safe as they could be for that particular bit it felt like. Yeah, but just really really well put together bit which I thought was great fun. And then I said and I did mind the locker room clearing out. I thought that I thought that added to it. I'm just using the one freak because obviously in the 20 tens WWE we're doing it every week and I'd rather see rats and agents swarm because it feels more official than the locker room police in it because I always think of what was at the Brock Lesnar undertaker fight which everyone loved and you had Kevin Owens out there front of set. And I'm just like, don't fight guys. It's like Kevin Owens wouldn't give a flying fuck. Like it takes me out of it a little bit, but this one I found actually all right because
like for example Steve Austin wasn't there, Kane wasn't there, undertaker wasn't there. It was mainly lower card guys. Usually I'd just prefer it to be faces but yeah, I was fine with it here because again it's a it's a fresh concept in the WWE after this point. Road Dog spoke about the the moments in itself on his on insight with Chris van Vleet a little while ago. He said it was a great day and a great time. If you go back and watch it, it got so heated and real after the push down. I remember Bradshaw always beating me up for some reason reaching over people and hitting us. If you watch it back, Bradshaw gets stuck in. Got crazy in a frenetic way. It helped the situation. Yeah, it got real for a second. It kind of felt real even to us for a second because the talent came around. We didn't talk about that. We didn't rehearse that to all of a sudden. Everybody's coming out and people are upset. We didn't rehearse with them in the dumpster but we rehearsed with Vince in the dumpster.
It's because he's the world's weirdest fucking man. Road Dog says he would never ask anybody to do something that he wouldn't do himself. There were boxes and padding in there and they drilled handles in there so they could hold on as they went down. We did the top down so the top wouldn't open so their hand wouldn't get wouldn't go out or anything like that. We made it as safe as possible but then two humans just got pushed off an edge and it wasn't a huge drop but it's far enough where you're going to get hit in a crash. They did absolutely their best that they possibly could to actually assure that they were safety in there. I was very reassured by that. During episode of Foley as God, Mick Foley has a slightly different version of this story. He says because according to him, he actually stopped Vince from taking the dumpster. He says, I stand by my rendition which is Vince wanted to do it and I talked him out of doing it. I don't
believe Vince took that bump. In my heart, I don't believe it is true. Despite the fact that Road Dog said, oh yeah Vince went that went down and did the bump. Foley is saying, actually, I talked him out of it. Again, I'm not shocked that he at least offered to do it. Yeah, as we saw with what was a Rob Grunkowski in jumping off the balcony and Vince with Manila 70s was doing that. I feel like with the actual bump itself, obviously you get a bit banged up. I think the worst part of it would be not seeing where you're going. I can imagine the anticipation of it must have been horrible. And going back to Road Dog and being really good, the performances here were great because like you said, they celebrated first just like given it the big I am. But then when you see him with Vince with Manila, quite sheepish, just like what? Fucking hell, yeah, sorry. They weren't comically evil, like brushing their hands
and doing a big 10 DBRC laugh. It was a good performance from Dog and Gun. It was one that inspired a whole generation of wrestlers as well. In a wrestle fest last year, one particular wrestler who's very much been the news as of late talked about this angle as being his earliest resting memory to which they said and see if you can guess who it is. It's embedded in my brain, burned in my redness. It's Billy As and the road dog, but she kicked us Mike and Texas Chainsaw Massacre Charlie off the ramp on Monday Night Raw. They showed it 47 times, especially because you have to have it some sort of groundhog day when it keeps happening over and over again. They did it to 47 times that night. Well, I mean, it can't be a complete winner, but apart from that, it's a very, very good angle. And that was also a lovely impression that I did just there of Dan Housen who recalls it as one of his earliest members of wrestling. I thought you'd stand to be Ron Simmons.

We speak to Road Dog and Billy Gunn and JR says, are you that desperate to get over? There's that phrase again. JR preempted that he was going to use that phrase by mentioning it in the section earlier and then described what it meant. So
therefore when he hit them with this, it felt even more impactful. Are you that desperate to get over? Road Dog said they saw an opportunity and they took it. They were interrupted by D generation X at this point and Sean told them they are told every week to raise the bar. Hunter said if it wasn't them, it would have been you. Sean tells them to keep pushing the ratings up, as Hunter tells them to suck it up and move on. So they're not in DX are the new age outlaws, but Sean Michaels and Triple H have very much got their back in why they did it and the method in which they did it. I've told them like, you've done it now, you've got to do it. And if they hadn't done it to them, they would have done it to you. Yeah, they're not in DX in name only at this point, pretty much, aren't they? Yeah, that's it. We're waiting for them to officially become part of D generation X and we're nearly there. We're nearly there. That ends our one. Yeah. I had to double check. I was like, oh, if I got like a fucked copy of this, but no, that was the first hour of raw.
The first hour of raw was the opening segment with DX and Steve Austin and all of that stuff with cactus jack and chains or Charlie the new age outlaws. That was our one. Fascinating. We come back from the break to start the second hour with the new age outlaws. The topic of the night, road dog and Billy good head towards the ring, road dog gives up the ghost on his opening spiel. Road dogs even a bit like flustered by what's happened and bit rattled by what they did. Owen Hart rushes to the ring and immediately attacks Billy gun and road dog in quick order. And this leads to the first, well, the first proper match of the night away from all of the other stuff. My second match, because cactus didn't change on how to match before I had to be fair. Really good chemistry between these two. But as this is Monday Night Raw, it is a fucked finish because Owen goes for the sharpshooter and road dog jumps in for the disqualification. Sean Michaels and Triple H appear and they help the outlaws beat Owen to
smithereens. The beating ends when hunter hits a DDT on Owen on the ramp. At least we think it ends because then the outlaws who suddenly got a little bit braver with Sean Michaels and Triple H and China around they tease at the behest of DX throwing Owen off the ramp. But in a far less dignified manner, whereas cactus jack and chainsaw Charlie would dump with thrown down in a dumpster, they grab Owen's arms and legs like they are swinging a child on a playground. Like the wing to feed the king, yeah. That's what it is, isn't it? No, they know here come all the referees and all the officials just to stop all that silliness going down. Sean barks at road dog and Billy gun saying they've got to do whatever it takes. So even though their plan was thwarted there, Sean and Triple H still very much have their back.
Yeah. I do like the interaction between DX and the new age outlaws. It's the DX are corrupting them and let you say it's it's not funny. Happy go lucky. Oh, we've got big Dicks DX that the dangerous at the moment. I do feel like again, Owen Hart made to look like a chump. Yes, he was beating down five on one and the story is that obviously, you know, it's at no way out. It's going to be the big eight man tag and so far cactus and chainsaw have been taken out. So Owen's only got to rely on Steve Austin who doesn't like him anyway. So Owen is alone in this, but he's still battered again for the 400 of time by DX. And I feel like going to do another stage throw was a little bit too much. Just let it marinate. Let it marinate. Yeah, just yeah, you let that segment breathe and live for a little while before you do anything else with it. Back from the break, we find out that Michael Cole has been dispatched to the hospital where he is giving updates on cactus jack and chainsaw Charlie. He's on a very dodgy
phone line, not the sort of dodgy phone line that you're ring to get your rocks off. I mean, like that the reception is bad. Doctors are working on them right now. What are you wearing? You're murky bastard. Imagine Michael Cole with your Michael. What you're wearing? Yes, lot. Doctors are working on cactus and chainsaw right now. Details are very sketchy, but he's going to report back a bit of a nothing, but it was more just established the fact that Cole is there. And again, it's living breathing organism. Living breathing organism. Michael Cole all clearly on a bank of headphones with his hat on, which has press on it because he's got a scoop. He's got a copy of razzle under his arm and his lad in his hand. He's living the dream in 1998. God, God bless that man. It's headbanger mosh in action next against Mark Merrow. Big pop for sable as is tradition. Merrow insists that she cover up and he does so with a robe that says property of Mark Merrow. JR refers to him as insecure and tells him to go talk to his quote,
little buddies on their websites. I'm assuming this is like a little whether or not they're being I couldn't figure out what this was referencing. Obviously it's referencing like message boards and stuff like that, but whether they've been a particular story or event this week around Mark Merrow. Yeah, no idea. No idea. It was this this whole segment as we'll go on to Mark Merrow is very 90s. First of all, he's taking a chat rooms and in a second, he goes for 90s, doesn't he? He does indeed. Well, he shoes off sable and tells her that she's put a bit of weight on and she needs to get on the stairmaster. Is that the 90s reference one of the 90s references that you're referring to? That is one of the 90s references that is indeed. He then brings out somebody to watch his back in that in and with that, he brings out Marilyn AKA. Oh, it's oh, it's Dustin Rudd's AKA gold dust, but he's Marilyn Manson dust, but it's just the fact that Mark Merrow's going
the beautiful people, the beautiful people. He's singing it over the rip off copy of beautiful people that we're hearing. Yeah, I will say this though, I quite like this gimmick for Dustin, Dustin Rhodes, I quite like it. Marilyn Manson dust, he looks, he looks like a big way to go, but not in like, oh, he's painted his ass play with like, oh, no, he looks, he looks a bit frightening. As was the style at the time. As was the style at the time. Yes, so Marilyn Manson dust is here to be in the corner of Mark Merrow and Marilyn Manson dust tries to get involved as the match wears on. Thrasher, thankfully, is there to shut him down, but in the chaos of dust being distracted by Thrasher, dust trying to distract Mosh and Thrasher get involved. We see Mark Merrow roll up Mosh and get the apple, the bad guys win again. I mean, as I seem to say every week, a weird use of the headbangers,
I don't know who they've pissed off in the back, unless this leads to an attack program between the headbangers and Mark Merrow and Dustin Rhodes, but it was a fine match. Does that not happen at no way out? Does it? I can't remember and I've seen no way out so many times, but I can't remember if there's definitely a Mark Merrow and Marilyn Manson dust tag match. The definitely is one of those, yeah. Maybe then. I'll have to wait and see. From, oh, and we come to my final drink of the podcast, which is, which is reduced at the heart of the Whole Foods place. It's a twice brewed dog on a skateboard alcohol free hazy IPA dog on a skateboard dog on a skateboard. Very excited. Twice brewed, which I do believe it's the brewery near where the sicker more gap used to be. Oh, those bastards cut it down. So here is an alcohol free hazy IPA.
He's going for his customary big swig. He's still going. That is a very tasty IPA. I'll drink five of those and feel no different as everybody else's night gets a little bit better. No, no, go home, I'll go home. Your night doesn't get any better. God, but you do feel like you're eating a roast dinner. But yeah, you feel as full as if you're eating a roast din dins. So split screen here. It's time for the continuing story of the lovers rift that is Bradshaw and Barry Wyndham. Barry and his new boyfriends in the NWA are on the left and Bradshaw is on his own in the locker room on the right. JR asks, when will Barry be man enough to face Bradshaw alone? Barry tells Bradshaw that he has an anger management problem. He needs to sort that out because right now he's got a tag partner that's much better than Bradshaw ever was in Jeff Jarrett. Jim Bradshaw says he doesn't, he will find a tag partner
and come beat up Wyndham. He'll go bring him, he'll bring a brew bundle or pose over the clown if he has to. If he gets closer to beating up Barry Wyndham, then Bradshaw slums down some bits and storms out of the dressing room. But in the true spirit of the fact that these are two segments recorded separately, Barry Wyndham is still very calmly chatting to Bradshaw despite the fact that Bradshaw has left the room. It's a freshly blonde Barry Wyndham as well. Oh, yes, sorry, I forgot that, but he has a blonde boy now. He's gone back to his roots literally. But it's what I was saying before about the locker room clear out, not five minutes ago. They were stood there, just be like, oh, I hope Terry Fung's all right. And at this point, they go, oh, I'm going to kill you. Leave my hands on you. You could have gone in, man. Yeah, just leave, leave rivals out of locker room clear out is what I think I'd be happy with. Yeah, but Bradshaw's going to go find himself a friend. It could be a brew bundle or it could be
pose over the clown. I was kind of hoping it'd be one of those two. A brew handled Mauser, he just heads up to start shooting him with German ordnance. That'd be wonderful. Speaking of ordnance, here's somebody who probably had an ordnance survey map at this point because flying in on a helicopter is Tiger Ali's thing. Ordnance survey joke, fuck me. What a pro ladies and gentlemen. What a pro. Why are you? Well, you listen to this app solo, Dersh. Here comes Tiger Ali's thing. It's not Dersh. It's just a nice excuse for me and Jackie Orlando to have a weekly check in. Very much. Yeah. Just that happens that you're listening as well. And we're grateful. The only reason we record this is that we can technically chalk it up as work. Yeah, this is one of my favorite jobs in the world in which I go, oh, bosses come around,
better look busy, put some rest lit on. Don't worry. This pint of drinking is alcohol free. Yeah, yeah. Alcohol free alcohol despite the fact that I have done several classic reviews with Mrs Sam and Matthew Leathered. But on this occasion, I'm not getting Leathered. I don't have time. Very burpy. That's always like you bought for very busy drinks and drinks and drink from what a fun experiment we've had today. It's always as good as the first crystal special we did when I decided, oh Joe would be great for audio. If I eat an entire pipe of cringles. That was a great day. All the time when what were we watching when we were in the juggling room and I was slubbed on a couch eating a full Easter egg. I feel like it was an in your house. It must have been. I think it was an early one. It was an early in your house. We are going in
Tiger Ali Sings house, his palatial home via helicopter. Tiger Ali Sins says that he has been called by many people. The next Asian Arnold Schwarzenegger or the next Asian Sylvester Stallone. However, he doesn't want telly or sponsorships to get away on his main focus being the greatest fighter of all time. I wish somebody would step in and go, mate, just take the sponsorship deals and run. We then see that Tiger Ali Sings absolutely lives in 90s decadence because we get shots of him running through the woods talking on a big mobile phone in front of another phone. He has two phones riding with the roof down on his car. We see him eating in what looks like my nan's dining room. We see him getting into a personalized helicopter and we see him doing some boxing training.
Now, what's funny is this final bit where they've got him doing the boxing shuffle where he's punching the back. They start the clip by playing it a bit slower. So it's kind of and then and then as the voice over finishes, they speed it up, which is a great effect. But what they don't do is take the audio off the boxing. So you hear that the slow motion, but then you also hear Tiger Ali Sings. That's because he's Tiger Tom. I really want to think that somebody went, oh, no, we've left that in. What excuse can we give for leaving it in? We'll say he's doing an impression of a tiger. Yeah, he was too busy living his 90s decadent life, Tom, because after this, he finished punching really fast and went and played on his game gear. I wish there was a shot, I mean, playing on his game gear. That'll be lovely. He does promise to set the resting world on fire. Okay, let's not make promises. We can't keep Tiger Ali Sings. He is the son of Tiger Jitsing,
who of course was a legendary wrestler from his decade. Tiger Ali Sings is less Charlotte Flair, more David Flair when it comes to the carrying on of the tradition. And all I saw in this was, it feels like the gimmick is just this, this, this, this nepos millionaire who has just decided, you know, that thing. I'm really shitter. I want to focus all my energy on doing that. There was an episode of friends where Monica was dating a guy who was running, it was just a multi-millionaire man who was running a business. I think it's played by the same guy who plays happy in Iron Man. And he's just like this, this millionaire doesn't want for anything, but he said, I have decided to take a new career. I'm going to be the best MMA fighter of all time. And it's an episode that, and then it's him trading. He's like, he's clearly shit. And there's the first, then you get his
first proper fight. And it's, it's a UFC event. And it's against tank average. And tank average beats the fuck out of it. The truth is, I saw it before. Let's make him well champion. Look what he did to happy from Iron Man in the future. So I, if they gone down, if they've been metter enough to go down that angle with Tiger Ali Sings and just go, he's really shit at this. And all his people go, yeah, he's really bad at wrestling, but he's paying me a lot of money to get him trained up some. We're going to humor him. Like, if that was the story of Tiger Ali Sings, I think that would have been amazing, but it's, it's never played in an ironic way. It sounds like something that would happen on like Chikara or Juggle O Championship wrestling, but never in the WWF. It's, it's the old trope that WWF loves going to and WWWE just like, oh, here's a rich Shitebag. They love it. They did not love a rich Shitebag, don't they?
Yeah, especially, especially if they're not American, because of course Tiger Ali Sings is Canadian. He is Canadian. Let's see. We're getting forget. A rich Canadian Shitebag. He's a rich Canadian Shitebag. He's a rich Canadian Shitebag. He is a rich Canadian Shitebag. And we'll keep an eye on him as the week is going on. Farouk is here. He's facing chains. Boy, I can't contain my excitement. I enjoyed the rock who was just doing his own poses away from the nation as he made his entrance. There's a particular pose that the rock did that he retired when he became a top heel, where he kind of like leans forward on one leg and like pumps his arm up. Yes, I know the one you know the one I mean. Yeah, it's in like, it's in the video game WWF Warzone, but he retires it as he moves forward.
Like, we'd say we don't see it forever, but it was nice to see it here, because the nation we're kind of huddled together doing their thing. Like, Farouk was warming up and he had the rock on either side of the ring just doing this very non-nation-esque pose. Yeah, but even even that aside, I still get a buzz off seeing the fall nation of domination coming to the ring. It just it warms the cockles and the sub-coccal regions of my heart. And then like you said, you got the rock dude as weird pose where it just is cacks and you're like, do you know what, fill your boots, lad, fill your boots. You got to have a lovely day. Yeah, silly, silly goes. It is Farouk vs. Chains. Chains has back up in the form of skull, a ball, Ken Shanrock, and now hopefully re-hydrated Ahmed Johnson. Hopefully and talking about style icons. Ahmed's out here and just jeans and a bum bag. The 90s? No one news dehydrated. He was just so cool. He was dry.
He usually just drinks the sweats off his own head. Yeah, that's it. How could he get dehydrated? Every time we see him, he's fucking soaking wet. That's what it is. He drinks his drinks like Steve Austin. He just pours a ball over himself on hopes for the bass. He hasn't had a proper drink in four years. It is bum bag was his lunch. The only thing he likes to eat, which is dry crackers, and he's like, oh god, I'm feeling it. It's part of their lads. But because these are their johns, and he's saying this, and no one can understand the where do you say it. So the warden said to them, but no one had a clue. Played that prank on him where they just took out all his empties, all his heavy on bottles and filled them with sand. He didn't notice until the third bottle. He's like, how am I getting drier? How am I getting thirsty or after drinking?
Um, the man got dehydrated. We'll be in such pricks. Like Davy boy, we love and respect him, but he's a figure of fun. He is a figure of fun. He is an absolute figure of fun. I spent the match wondering what the rock was doing, which I think is the thing, because he's obviously the star of the nation. Michael Cole is on the phone. He says Terry Funk is conscious, and Foley is slipping in and out of consciousness. But Vince McMahon has just turned up to check on everybody. Yes, so it's not looking good for Foley, who keeps going to sleep, but Vince is there. A very flat ending. Karma accidentally grabs Farouk's leg. Farouk argues with the nation. He steps out of the ring, continues to argue with them, and the referee scouts him out. Chains wins. Chains had to get this win over Farouk, didn't they? Well, I like the fact that even though Farouk was caught with alcohol and he just went,
oh, fuck this, I'm going to start a fight with karma. He did, and then he just wondered off. Silly Billy. Tag match next is Jeff Jarrett, Barry Wyndham, all the bleached blonde boys, taking on Bradshaw and sadly not a mophead, but on the plus side, it's Flash Funk. Flash is always great, but even commentary are saying he's really underutilised his Flash Funk. This is coming from JR, who is working in talent relations. Hey, why is this guy not getting a look in? You tell us, Jim. I mean, what was he going to say next? I'd be like, oh, this great NWA tag team of Jeff Jarrett and Barry Wyndham once again. If only there was a great NWA tag team, literally a ringside fucking going back in. Jesus Christ, it's so weird in it where they just go, we're going to focus on an NWA tag team. There's rock and roll expressed, mine, and that's right. Jeff Jarrett and Barry Wyndham.
I can imagine JR's just like, we can't book them his heels. I was like, why is that? Because then the best baby face tag team of all time. I'm like, Jim, it's 1998, and no one cares. Just, just haven't wrestled. He's like, nope, no sir, I can't do it. If only they'd stopped underutilising Flash Funk. Yeah, yeah. Rolex back from break. Wyndham's teeing off on Bradshaw. He is loving life. Oh, sorry, I missed a whole bit. Sorry, rock and roll express. It's all right. It doesn't bother everybody. I missed, even I'm underutilising Flash Funk here. Rock and roll express, attack Flash Funk outside the ring. Drop his neck first on the barricade. And this leaves Bradshaw all on his own. And during the break and after the break, he is getting a battering. From Barry Wyndham. It was a loving life at this point. But Bradshaw will rally and just start. That was the sort of windmill clotheslines on anything with a heartbeat. He then clotheslines the piss out of chariot.
And fuck it on his own. Gets the three. Fuck you, WWE. But he's just Christ. Yeah, there is revenge. There is revenge. Because Bradshaw will get chariot in a choke and then Jim Cornett will twat Bradshaw with the racket. No effect, but a beating from the rock and roll express. Barry Wyndham and Jeff Jarrett will do the job. Bradshaw's down. They put him in a figure four as Wyndham splashes Bradshaw's knee multiple times to leave him struggling to get back to his feet. Jackie Orlando, the feud must continue. I mean, for fuck's sake. What's this week two or three of the feud? So the new heel group of five men, including Cornett got swatted by a Bradshaw. They get squashed by one man who Jim Ross compared on commentary to fucking god damn bastard Stan Hansen.
No. Why is Bradshaw getting a stronger push than Owen Hart? We all know the reason, but still I ask it. And yes, the post market attack, the post match attack, easy for me to say, by the NWA was decent. The four man backdrop neck breaker combo was nice. But the heels needed to win this and Jim Cornett shouldn't be getting hit yet either. Did he just spend their load on this? It's terrible booking, terrible booking across the book. They need to give us a little bit time to actually build to this. But I've lost the NWA needed to win. They at least got their heat back at the end. Yeah, I mean, and as well, Jeff Jarrett taking the pin. Jesus Christ. Yeah, the NWA Northern American champion. Not Barry. No, Barry. Nope. Someone got a lose here. If only there was a tag team that could have lost, could have taken the pinfall on this. Only there was fucking NWA tag team of high regard that they could have used.
I can't see any Tom, can you? No, I can't see a single one. Anyway, enough for that because Michael Coles back on the blower. And he says, all hell has broken loose at the hospital. And the police have been called along with heavy security. So we try and imagine to be like, for fat blocks if I was. Well, you're not coming in, Lads, you're a fuck off. I'm the heavy security. We lose Michael Coles signal. We can't figure out what's happening. But mate, it's all kicking off at the hospital. What do you think it is? I think somebody's broken into the vending machine. They have it. He's making a way with tons of O Henry bars. And Michael Coles didn't have enough quarters and his phone ran out. And that's why he was like, oh, I've got, oh. And he just wanted to keep his last two dollars in his pocket to ring his favorite mucky mucky phone lines, doesn't he? He loves ringing his mucky phone lines as that boy. Filthy Doyle. Oh gosh, well, we'll keep an eye on that one. Anyway, Jackie Orlando.
Tonto Campbell, you are one of our esteemed writers at Coltaholic.com. You are also one of our esteemed writers of our wonderful list videos that we do at Coltaholic YouTube channel. Did by any chance you put your hand to the keyboard for a list that we did recently. You know the one I'm going to ask you about. I do because I saw it before. Oh, oh, that's weird. No, I didn't. We did a list recently on the channel called 10 Forgotten WWE Attitude Era Fingers. And lo and behold, one of those turns up in this week's episode of the classic Raw Review. So I didn't know whether it was you. I am, of course, talking about wink collins. These seems to have an invisible career. He breezes in and gets so slammed in the ring. If this is the fellow who he turned up was at the
Survivor Series sweepstakes in 96, 97. And he was just getting a weird, we were just like, who the fuck is this? No, Lebman's looking bastard. This is. So in the ring, we have wink collins who has popped up on the show on a couple of occasions as our boy, wink collins. He is and well, he was a promoter. And he was very much involved in WWF live event department. He came from working previously for ice cupades and the ringling brothers. So he has been around for a million years. He has popped up on TV just a handful of times. He hosted the TV trivia show, which was part of a billionaire TED skit. He was the host of that. And he was seen in the Somerslam sweepstakes quiz last year. Do you remember when they were doing those little bits where you had to collect code words? Yeah, it was like the shit. The code word this week is keyhole or something like that.
It was odd because at the time we're just like, are we meant to know who this fellow is? Well, yeah, he was in the swimming pool. He was in the inflatable. That was wink collins. So he works like I said, he has a proper office job with WWF. So he rarely pops up. They're so often they're using for a bit of fun. And he's out here tonight to officially tell us that WrestleMania 14 is sold out. Oh, well done. You've all bought tickets. But if you can't be there, it'll be live on pay per view. Sadly, wink collins moment in the sun on Raw is ruined as the lives go out and can interrupts everything. Oh, bloody hell. JR says, wink collins is standing in the mouth of hell, which I believe is when he is about to enter Vince's office to ask for holiday on Wednesday. Oh, please, I've got to take me dog to the zoo. He's like, no, I've got to take my dog to the zoo.
He loves it. He loves looking at the monkeys. He loves it. But Vince, he loves it. But Vince, he loves it. He loves it. Poor bearer tells Kane to show and I quote, this young man, which is doing a lot of heavy lifting, I think the most accurate part of that is this. The hell the undertaker is currently living in to which Kane proceeds to grab wink collins by the throats and get ready to choke slump the shit out of it. I mean, this young man can't be a day younger than 55. I mean, he's this young man. It echoes the whole idea that Vince never liked people aging. Yeah, I always loved that by WrestleMania. Can't have a number on it. It sounds old. It's like, no, you're stupid. It's what? It sounds prestigious. Yeah, you've stood the test of time. You fucking idiot.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, here he comes. Makes me, I mean, the audience feels old. Master of projection. Wings about to get choke slime, but here comes Vader to make the save and wink is out of there like a rat upper dream pipe he has gone. Kane is waiting patiently for Vader who has some things to say. And this is what Vader says. Cade, my business come no way out your big ass is mine I said it's mine matter of fact looks for something I'm going to put your fire out put it out right now Vader everybody well done because it what makes it even better is he's got the microphone
too close to his mouth so it's all the storage he's like it's like oh god I don't know what you say but he's I got me's angry no microphone etiquette for Vader but a fire extinguisher he does have and can operate very quickly he blasts Cain in the face with it and Cain goes flying out of the ring he encourages Cain to take a powder I'm sad that the powder from the fire extinguisher didn't really set because it would look like Cain had been pied in the face like Bill Gates that week yeah that would have definitely taken off some of the aura of Cain but he sold the fire extinguisher well and even though really a fire extinguisher should be like a can of spinach to pop eyes like oh no Cain's on fire oh if I eat this fire extinguisher I'll become very very powerful indeed muscle star pop it give me what Collins are here fuck off Lord's is in me to the scratch me what did you make of the whole bit I thought was a good segment the crowd popped
up like Vader has remained over because he's Vader and even though he doesn't have any direction or strong walking he's just a big angry bastard who airs people and people like that and he looked like a beast for successfully standing up to Cain and when Cain you know to talk a powder the crowd were coming on glued and the fans are hot because they're just like we're going to have a horse fight this is going to be fun I don't know what Vader said or he's going to smack a bastard so I enjoyed it what about you I thought it was fun I always remember because I had like you no way out on VHS and I remember the clip they played of of Vader's promo so when I heard it I was like I've heard this so many times in the video package you stuck nose in my business like he was doing his real best to remember the promo it's like yep I know like when things don't go my way

hand picked by the pros who know what works and right now get it all buy one get one 50% off during the semi annual live well sale from crushing workouts to leveling up to nutrition and everything in between get the best deals on the latest innovations all the newness is all on sale right now during the live well sale on the drop by GNC and with that we come to our main event of the evening it is road dog of the new age animals versus stone cold Steve Austin it's Billy gun doing the oh you didn't know intro he there was only a handful of times that they let him do this it's it's a rarity it's definitely a rarity it's a collector's item kids like like a commemorative stuff do do do do oh you didn't know you're asking for the call somebody okay so not 10 um he says not many people like him but that's okay when the Neilson race has come out tomorrow there's gonna be a lot of people at Titan towers
who love the outlaws um yeah they're optimistic that what we saw tonight was going to draw people away from Monday night show and and I guess we'll find out when we chat about it next week see well how effective shoving a man off of off of ledge in a dumpster actually was against the wrestling program on the other channel um Steve Austin is in the main event are all but this is a match that's not really a match Austin runs out he batters road dog outside the ring throws him into the steel steps throws him back into the ring to beat him up some more Billy gun then jumps into the ring and then Austin gives us something quite magnificent something that I genuinely think we should be hanging in the Louvre uh it is one of the smoothest traveling stone cold stunners ever now what I mean by this is a tip as as a stone cold stunner special specialist of course I am now you ask anyone in Cardiff um stunner typically you are stationary and you're boot and then you go straight down Austin kind of boots Billy hooks his heads kind of walks a couple of paces
and swings his legs around so they kind of do like a 45 degree spin as and gun goes with him so it's not like Gunn is having like his neck whiplashed to follow it's like they both go 45 degrees and I've thought it was really quite smooth it's always like Billy Gunn is a really good worker it's like he's a really good worker did you notice that I was that just me over analyzing I did not notice this no because I was as usual furious at Earl heaven have never been shit at his job yes and and you know why because technically there was no disqualification there yeah Earl start ringing the bell and throws out the match but could even know Billy didn't get his hands on Austin so it shouldn't be a DQ the match never fucking started so so I put result who fucking knows the match never started Earl you shit Gunn is what I thought in mind I can't stand them can't stand them can't you've never been a fan no because people like oh he's the best
referee ever say no he's the most famous referee ever because you notice him therefore he's bad at his job I'm not having it I'm not having it Tim White or all day we're a Tim White family in this house yeah DQ um DX hit ringside and they attack Steve Austin along with the new age outlaws JR screaming that Michaels doesn't want a face stone cold which is true um this is where we get another iconic seed on the road to WrestleMania DX in the outlaws tie Steve Austin up in the ropes in the Andre the giant position Austin his arms stuck between the rows his flail in he's he's gnarling his teeth he's spitting he's furious then you get sure Michaels leaning over Steve Austin with the WWF title in his hand and he's and he's tall in stone cold Steve Austin as he pushes the bell into his actual face this is as close as you're ever going to get to the WWF title this is it
this is it Austin this is it it's oh it's good bit this oh it's good crowd are fucking on glued these the loudest Austin chance we've had up until at least put up until this point they are hot for this potential match they are ready for Austin to win the title a really key bit that is it's cut off a little bit too quick because suddenly as Sean screaming this is it Austin this is it we hear loud cheers because down the ramp barrel cactus jack and Terry funk they are back from the hospital their barefoot jack has his arm in a sling he's on an IV drip and Terry funk is just in a dressing gown but has retrieved his chains all these two absolute mentalists hit the ring and the outlaws beat over and treat up the ramp cactus and Charlie will head up the ramp to chase them Austin Austin starts going up the ramp as
well but then as cactus and Charlie get up the ramp Austin goes back towards the ring Austin gets into the ring he has retrieved a D generation X T shirt straight down the hard cam as the credit appears on the bottom of the screen Austin rips the DX T shirt to a huge ovation as we go off the and on the version I had we had a little bit of extra post show footage little bit which is just Austin on the commentary headset still calling out Mike Tyson still reminding us that Tyson's front of his mind he then solutes the crowd and heads to the back he pushes the camera man over and bursts a few balloons as he goes as well he was just like this is for you Tom pop pop pop pop absolutely bastard hated him what did you make of how raw ended mixed feelings the visual of michael's and Austin was fantastic really built up the match should a safe cactus and Terry funk's return for next week just to sell that big heinous attack the fact that was just like oh my
god this is taking a full hour oh actually they're all right have Owen Hart come out here with a chair and it's just like oh can Owen Hart and Steve Austin get on because after all he broke his fucking neck but that set that little gripe aside really hot really hot end to the show and raw itself it was weird because it was a very good episode of raw it was exciting it was there's anarchy it was unpredictable the show long thread of the outlaws DX stuck in the paper the opponents was great the build towards both no way out a mania but it's weird because when you look at it closely from an in-ring perspective it's very out of tune era in that it was a bit crap in that most of the matches got thrown out or with DQs or were non-events but I can't fault this is an episode of raw it flew by we are now we're at the point where raw genuinely like this is the Monday Night Raw of the attitude era now the whole bit with the the dumpster I
thought was really well told obviously you know you blur the lines a little bit there and Austin didn't need to have a match in the main event I know we've wingeed about DQs all the time on raw but I think we're now accepting the fact that match quality is going to take a backburner for a couple of years now yeah in favor of the attitude era but that's why I thought what what it was was exactly what you needed to be which is Austin just coming out raising hell beaten people up sending a message to DX sending everybody home happy yeah and you know you you can't fault it like I said when you when you look at it too closely you just go oh this wasn't very good but it's like what was it effective and was I entertained he's like well yeah so therefore didn't this job do I want to do I want to watch the pay-be-view yeah well it's it's done it's that's it so the pay-view as we said at the very beginning it'll be an eight-man tag as it stands it's DX and the new age outlaws versus cactus Jack chains of Charlie Owen Hart and Steve Austin they've not officially announced that yet but that's where we're going but they will be twists and turns along the way on the road to WrestleMania and we'll watch it all and we'll track it all
on the coltolic classic roar of you what are you working on this week Jay Orlando I have been this season I've been mostly I have been working on the next episode of worst feud ever it is a WrestleMania-flavored one involving two wrestlers that I that I've got on record as saying that I love a lot but I am I'm being a bit slow with it I've had a lot on this week because Aiden Gibbons has got chicken pox so he's he's been off work so I've been I've been in charge over on dot com 197 you're telling me at no point during his entire life he came close to anybody with chicken pox no that's because he eats a steady diet of kidneys and raw onions and it did it did him well and one time he left his shed he came into contact with someone with chicken pox at its fucking set and flying bloody yeah well obviously we send our love to Aiden Gibbons who
