Wrongly Convicted Man's Rapist Identified

Now Paul Quinn faces trial for the attack, with forensic evidence linking him to the scene. The assault happened in the early hours of July 19, 2003, in Little Hulton, Southford. A woman in her 30s was dragged off the street, beaten badly, strangled, and raped twice near a motorway embankment. Malkinson, from Grimsby, was identified wrongly by three witnesses in a lineup, despite no DNA tying him to the victim. He fought multiple appeals and finally won his freedom in 2020, after nearly two decades behind bars. Improved testing techniques revealed a DNA sample on the victim's vest top, first noted as unknown male, one in 2007. By 2022, experts matched it to Quinn, saying it's at least one billion times more likely his DNA than not.

1:01Quinn, a 51-year-old father of five now living in Exeter, denies two counts of rape, strangulation, and inflicting grievous bodily harm. The trial and Manchester Crown Court is ongoing as jurors weigh the new evidence.
