Wranglers Fall to Firebirds, 4-1

The Calgary Wranglers wrapped up their weekend series with a 4-1 loss to the Coachella Valley Firebirds on Sunday afternoon. The Firebirds jumped ahead early in the second period, but the Wranglers tied it up on a goal from Justin Kirkland. Coachella Valley then added two more before sealing it with an empty netter, late in the third. The Wranglers were missing a couple players called up to the Flames, including Matt Vagridden and Hunter Brzeusta Witch, so they brought in Simon Mack. From the Miners, four defense. Parker Bell returned after an injury, and ETN Mauren was back in the lineup too. Both teams switched goalies for the back-to-back match-up, with Ivan Prosvetov starting for Calgary. Fans saw some tense moments, like Turner Otenbright taking a hard fall early but shaking it off to play through. There were penalties on both sides, including a neon knee hit that led to a scrum, but no one was seriously hurt.

1:00Prosvetov stood tall in the first period, stopping all 14 Firebird shots to keep it scoreless. In the end, shots favor Coachella Valley at 31-19, showing their edge in chances. The Wranglers couldn't build momentum after tying the game, dropping the finale, despite solid penalty killing.
