Hey, Mrs. Strawberry, how y'all doing out there today? I hope everybody is doing well because we're going to start a day off with the word of the day. So let's get ready for that word of the day and a little bit of thoughts to go with it. It's the word of the day for March 5th. Today's word is deem, spelled D-E-E-M. Deem is a verb. It's a somewhat formal word used when someone comes to think something or to have something as an opinion after some consideration. Here's the word used. In a sentence from hotnewhiphop.com He's an artist who has certainly taken some flack over the years for his style. Some find it to be a gimmick while others deem it corny. Despite this, he does have a pretty sizable fan base.
If you feel a sense of doom when asked to define the word deem, we're here with some details for your dome. While today deem is used generally as a synonym of the word consider as in a movie deemed appropriate for all ages, its origins are more formal, coming specifically from the realm of law. The oldest meaning of deem, which comes from the Old English verb, Daemon, an ancestor of doom, is to sit in judgment upon, as employed by Edmund Spencer in the fairy queen with these words. At the one side, six judges were disposed to view and deem the deeds of arms that day. This sense was obsolete by the early 17th century and other senses, including to expect or hope, have come and gone. But deem's use overall has never dimmed. In fact, today's most common meaning of to come to think or judge something to consider
has also been in use since Old English and is still deemed quite common. The award of the day, Aunt Peter Sakalowski. I did a workshop this week about productivity and designing your day better in the workplace. And I did a little survey. It all makes a happy day at work. And there were three things that came out on top. One, getting that to do list done. Two, having fun with my colleagues. And three, snacks. And I think what great tryptaker things to make sure that you've got in a day's work. One, have you moved the needle now? Listen, the to do list getting done is not one of those things where you go, right? I've got to get it all done. I've got to get it all done. You know that a to do list is only really there to remind you of the things that you need to do. And that you should choose one or two or three things that you're going to get done to feel that way that you're feeling like you've got there.
So number one, if you want to have a great day at work or a great day in general, give yourself the opportunity to make some progress on something. Feel like you've got some jobs done. Productivity, number one. Number two, fun colleagues was the answer. Having fun with colleagues, right? That's connection. This is really key. So for you to have a great day, maybe it's about finding ways to have some connection, seeing someone having some fun and enjoying your time with some friends and family and work colleagues, obviously. And then the third thing, I mean, I say it was snacks. But really, it was chocolate. What chocolate snacks represent is moments of things for you, right? Then moments of, this is going to make me feel good so that I can get through the day. So today, based on my workshop where most of the answers were thus, look at your day. How can you make sure you are one productive,
two, having fun with people, and three, getting good stuff into you, making yourself feel good? I'll be back tomorrow with another episode of every day positivity for you. In the meantime, have a great day. And remember, you have 100% got this. Hi, welcome to Daily Inspirational Quote. I'm Trina Boyce. Today's inspiring quote is by David B. Hate, who was a former mayor of Palo Alto, director of the Stanford Hospital and religious leader. He stated, quote, nothing touches the soul but leaves its impress. And thus, little by little, we are fashioned into the image of all we have seen and heard, known and meditated. And if we learn to live with all that is fairest and purest and best, the love of it all will, in the end, become our life. End quote. Susan Anderson joined our Facebook group and invited me to share this quote with you today. It's a perfect suggestion because I have actually been thinking about just this idea a lot lately.
The presidential debates are now underway here in the United States, and the ugliness has already begun. The political season can fill the airwaves and our thoughts with such anger and disgust. I saw friends I care for say such mean things on their social media accounts during the last presidential election that I was truly appalled. It would be so great if we could just agree to disagree and continue seeing the good in each other, right? Well, I think it's extremely important to understand the political issues of the day and order to know how to cast our vote in the wisest manner possible. I also believe it's important to control how much negative media we expose ourselves to. I used to teach a politics class at a local college, and I often found myself in a bad mood because it's such a contentious subject. I had to be really careful to fill my mind and heart each day with the good things of the world to balance all of the negative stories
I was reading and hearing. So today be really mindful about what content you fill your day with. If you absolutely must know about the ugliness in the world, make sure you actively look for what's good to. It really does affect how we see the world and who we become. Once again, David B. Hate counseled us, nothing touches the soul but leaves its impress and thus, little by little, we are fashioned into the image of all we have seen and heard, known and meditated, and if we learn to live with all that is fairest and purest and best, the love of it all will, in the end, become our life. Now get out there and make it a great day. A great day. A great day. A great day. A great day. A great day. A great day. A great day. A great day. A great day. A great day. A great day.
A great day. A great day. a great day. a great day. a great day. a great day. a great day. a great day. a great day. a great day.
