Wisconsin Badgers Spring Practices: Newcomers & Returners

0:00On March 30th Wisconsin Badgers just kicked off spring practices, but they're taking this week off for spring break. Reporters got eyes on a few sessions with a totally revamped squad, packing 45 new players and plenty of projected starters across the board. Position battles are heating up early, especially after massive overhalls are running back, wide receiver, tight end, defensive line, cornerback and safety. Players are stepping in as likely starters everywhere, with pads not even on yet. Coaches are buzzing about returners making big jumps, like Charles Perkins and Nolan Villes on the defensive line. They're praising those guys for steady progress before even spotlighting the newcomers. New additions are turning heads too, with players like Junior Poiser, bringing veteran leadership and physicality, Denygo Cooper showing twitchy speed, despite his size, and Jake Anderson improving reliable every day. The whole group faces tough big 10 competition in practice.

1:00Depth looks solid like last year, and they're building bigger bodies to stop the run, while chasing more pass rush. Returners like Villes keep flashing up the depth chart, pointing to real promise as spring rolls on.
