But which way do we think this is leaning? Is it is do you think it's leaning toward a Grenard

3:09trade at some points with the Vikings actually pony up and pay him? What do you want with Dallas Turner kind of in the wings to take a starting spot? Where do you think things stand on the Grenard trade front? Well, I mean, there's no trade buzz right now. Phil, by the way, good to see you gentlemen. Love is always happy reckless speculation Thursday. There just isn't anything that suggests a trade is on the cusp of happening now as teams set their draft boards. I mean, think about it one month from today. Think about it right now. The Vikings have what nine draft picks one month from today April 26th. Think about it. We'll be dissecting any number of draft picks plus undrafted forage and signings. So things are about to ramp up that much more on the draft front. So as teams like the Eagles and Colts and others who have made inquiries with Drew Rosenhouse or maybe Rosenhouse has initiated that dialogue. But like those are two teams I put front and center on the Grenard trade interest front. I'm sure there's more. But Eagles and Colts for sure the Eagles have a number of draft picks. So could things ramp up as

4:15the Eagles get a better feel heading into April 23rd. What does the draft board look like? Who will be available at certain picks? Sure, but I'm just telling you as we sit here on March 26th, I'm just not getting a whole lot of buzz that something is on the cusp of happening because it's twofold. Rosenhouse wants much more money. You look at the Jalen Phillips contract, some of these other forage and contracts. Certainly can make a compelling case. Jonathan Grenard is underpaid. He deserves to be paid more money. But you need to find a team willing to pony up a day to draft pick. The Vikings are not trading Grenard for anything less than that. And I'm not even sure you trade him for a third round pick. Like when I say day two, I'm thinking more like a second round pick. So is there a team willing to give up a second round pick? Plus award Grenard, a monster raise. And so right now I would say fluidity to the situation, but just right now as I sit here on Thursday morning March 26th. No, I don't sense anything is on the cusp, but I'm not ruling it out. Put it

5:17that way. But I'll continue to say in an ideal world, Jonathan Grenard is a Viking here in 2026 playing under the current terms of his deal. So let's talk about the dilemma here. Okay, because Grenard as far as pressure is he gets a ton of pressure to years ago. He was healthy. The sacks were great last year. I think three sacks before he hurt the shoulder. He I don't know what I would describe it. He fell off of a few sacks. He was slippery. I don't know what happened. He didn't bring the quarterback down and he got there too. So this is not all. Well, it's just pressure. It was pressure, but he got there. He didn't get the sack. But the problems that I see are statistically when Jonathan Grenard plays, he is a difference maker. He is worth a lot. The issue, I think, if you're the Vikings, and I think part of the reason why the Texans allowed him to walk a couple of years ago is the injuries. He doesn't play full seasons consistently. And so I understand the conundrum here from both sides. And if you're the Vikings, I guess the

6:19question becomes, and you're trying to get your cap situation right, which I appreciate. The question becomes this, do you pay him what he wants based on the fact that you don't know what his game has played for season is going to be? And he's not getting younger. And all of this to me creates a situation which, unless he's traded around the draft, I think they're going to have to come to a resolution of sorts. I wonder if the resolution is this sort of the Daniel Hunter. You know, if you guys recall, Daniel's contract, he signed that second contract, and it was his fault. It was a stupid contract because the guy was a pro bowl player. And he basically took a, will pay you now deal. Watch out for that with Darisaw. I think he took less than he probably should have as well. But to go back here, he fired his original representation. It's always a mistake. Yeah. It's always a mistake. But here's my question,

7:19then, is do you just start to come to short-term resolutions with Grenard as opposed to doing a three or four year contract? Sure, that could make some sense. I mean, I don't think the Vikings are ready for Dallas Turner, even though you look at the last half of the last year. I mean, there's a sense that Dallas Turner is ready to ascend even more. But I'm not sure internally, they are ready for Dallas Turner to play 55, 62-ish type snaps in a game. And who else do you have? Now, I suppose if you trade Grenard, okay, Dallas ascends up. They'll play that much more. You can go sign a street free agent. There's still some guys available. Or use a draft pick on somebody that can rush the quarterback from the edge. But I just, I don't think they're ready for Dallas to have like a significantly bigger role. And I'm getting into semantics, right? Because is he going to have a bigger role in 26? Yes. I'm not suggesting otherwise. But

8:20a much bigger role, I'm not sure they're ready for that. So yeah, Judd, I wouldn't rule that out that maybe it's some sort of short term fix. And hey, maybe the Vikings are interested in, you know, allowing him to hit the market that much sooner. How much term is left on his deal? Is he signed through 27? Yes, at 19 million per season base salary. So would you somehow allow him to hit the market again after 26? Hockinson asked. That might be the resolution. Could there be a resolution like that that thinking maybe we want to pay Dallas Turner and Dallas Turner for year four in 27? Okay, then he's ready for a much, much bigger role like Bernard Walk elsewhere next March. But why would you let him walk if there's a trade on the table now? Like why would you let him walk in a year? But if there's a trade available now, he can help you a ton, at least in theory, he can help you a ton, get back to the playoffs this year. I don't think no fill to answer

9:21your question. I think the problem is the trade on the table won't be attractive because teams are also saying this guy doesn't play complete seasons. So yes, if somebody says a second round pick, I'm with you Phil, I take that. But I did, but I think the concern now is because if Bernard is going to get traded to let's say the Colts or Eagles, you're going to allow him to pre-negotiate a new contract. And if they're like hold on a second, we're not going to pay you that, then the problem is, you know, if they're going to throw the Vikings like a fourth round pick, I'm out. So to your point, Phil, I'm with you completely. If you get a second round pick, I pull the trigger right now. So the Eagles have, do you have handy Declan or Phil? Eagles draft picks? Is it an extra three and extra four? Phil memorized them by the boat. I could, in fact, I'm not even looking at it. I can tell you that they have the 23, the 54, the 68, the 98, the 122, and the 137 draft survive. Phil Mackie. You think Thor is a draft survive? Good, we're a hundred and Phil Mackie. There are approximately nine picks on the Eagles draft. So they, yeah, they do have, they do have a

10:26first, the second, two thirds, and then two fourths plus two fifths as well. They don't have any sixth or seventh round picks. Those are easy to acquire by the boat. All right, so what's the fair offer the Eagles can make? I still think negotiating the extension, whatever the raise looks like, is actually the more difficult part, not necessarily agreeing on draft compensation. But let's just play this out. The Eagles legit suitor. That's not reckless speculation. Okay, the Eagles legit interest in Grinard. What does it look like if you're a Brazinski to say yes? I mean, if they put that number 54 pick on the tape, I mean, obviously the 23rd pick would be incredible, but I think based on his lack of durability, a first round pick feels off the table. If they put that 54th pick on the table in any form, you have to say, yeah, and I know that on the flip side of this, Doug's fans are sitting here, a big chunk of them screaming at us. Like, why are you guys trying to trade Jonathan Grinard? I'm not 130. I love his leadership. I love

11:31his on the field. I get it. I'm a judge. Can he stay healthy? But I love him as a dude. I love him as a player. I don't want to trade Grinard, but I'm just trying to push this thing out thinking, okay, you're extending O'Neill and I get that. You want to pay Jordan Addison. I don't know exactly what that looks like, but you start projecting this thing out. If Kyler Murray works out, what does the next Kyler Murray contract look like? Like, you just, you can't pay all these guys. You have Dallas Turner. So I'm just saying, if you can get pick 54, that's a no brainer. I just don't know if the Eagles are willing to do that. And I think in terms of, well, okay, why would you consider trading one of your best players? And the the broader answer to there is asset management. You're trying to build the Vikings continue to go kind of year by year with a like that. That's the reason why Daniel Hunter left for essentially nothing two years ago. It's the reason you got essentially nothing for Kirk cousins when there would have been a trademarked for him as you were going year by year by year without actually having Super Bowl teams. So I think you have to ask

12:35yourself, is this an actual Super Bowl team in 2026? Or are you Vikings hoping that it's a Super Bowl team? And if your honest answer is we think we're a playoff team, but we're not on the level of like Seattle, the Ram, some of the real top dog teams. Well, the Eagles, it's the end up with well, sure. So if the answer is no, you would want to look at options for for for at least flexibility to get more good young players that are cheaper contracts from 2026 through 2029. And John think we're not well, the first lever to pull is just be better at drafting with your current picks than they have been the last four years. But why I think that's the blowback isn't that it Phil? People that are screaming, listening or watching this right now are like, you don't trade Grinard because this regime can't hit on draft picks. So yeah, in theory, it sounds great. Let's acquire another top 100 pick. Then at that point, the Vikings have five top 100 picks. But if you can't hit on these guys, wouldn't you just say, yeah, you pay Grinard.

13:39Well, that's bad process. And now you're doubling down on bad process because like the best, a lot of the best Vikings teams that we've seen were including the ones the last like two of the last four years were built largely off of great draft picks that came the Jefferson's the Derrassas Harrison Smith still around a decade and a half later. Go back to that 2017 team where you hit on all those defensive players in the draft Eric Kendrick's Anthony bars, Xavier Rhodes. I could keep going up and down the list. At some point, if you want to be a Super Bowl team, you have to be better at drafting and you have to look to be ahead of the curve when it comes to a player that's demanding a lot of money at kind of a questionable age. You're better to be a year early on that than you are a year late. Unless you think you can win the Super Bowl, then I'm okay being maybe a year late because you want veterans who know what they're doing on your team. All right. Well, I mean, realistically speaking, Kyler Murray just about hits his ceiling.

14:44Year and what? Year eight. As good as he was 19 to 21, pretty darn good in 24. 2026 is the best year of Kyler Murray's career for a myriad of reasons, but let's just go on that idea. Are they still a Super Bowl team? Judd. So if Kyler Murray has a career year, this is the best year of Kyler Murray's career and they keep going out. Are they the Super Bowl team? If, if you have very few guys get hurt, if Kyler Murray balls out, but they have guys start to go down on either or both sides of the ball because of the drafting issues, they don't have enough depth to win. So if Kyler balls out, and Jefferson and Addison stay healthy and your defense, Grinard plays, if he's with you 17 games, then that's how I think you could put yourself in position. But that is, but you love

15:46like Ashman, but he can't stay healthy for sure. And that's a huge, Jeff, though. Like, like, like, it's it's it's folly. It's pie in the sky. Naive to think that this team, like the majority of these teams don't stay healthy. So I'm giving you a best case that I would personally say, Judd, you're crazy to say that. Plus, I mean, you could argue, dude, what the heck are you talking about? Kyler Murray having the best year of his career? If you look back at some of those numbers from like 19 and 21, even 24, you mean to tell me Kyler is going to exceed those numbers? Now, we can have the conversation, infrastructure, play collar, just a lot in place here that he didn't have an Arizona, but I understand if people are like, what are you saying? What are you even suggesting that for the Kyler Murray is not hitting any sort of ceiling? I think, listen, the Vikings in the Kevin O'Connell era have won 13 and 14 games with Kirk cousins who had never done anything like that in his career to that point. And Sam Darnel, same deal. So do I think that do I trust Kevin O'Connell

16:51to get a little something extra out of a seven, eight year veteran quarterback? Yes, I am, I'm probably more positive on that than Judd certainly is on the show. So have we have we seen it before with Kevin and and quarterbacks 100%. My biggest question about this year's team right now is probably defensive front compared to I mean, I know that people were out on Jonathan Allen, Jay Von Hargrave, but like those guys weren't as worthless as a lot of fans and media were portraying them to be and they haven't exactly filled those spots. You are hoping that a seventh rounder and Levi Drake Rodriguez can be a high end starter at this point, hoping that Tyreen Ingram dock and also we've kind of crowned Jalen Redmond and it's an awesome story. Are we sure that he is now a consistent top high end defensive lineman or did he have a really nice year? I trust Jalen Redmond. You can still sign somebody. I mean, I checked on DJ Reader the other day. He's capable of just there isn't anything going on not to say they're couldn't down the road,

17:52but there just isn't Vikings interest there, but there's a couple other names too. I mean, he's at the top of the list. Plus, I imagine with those four picks in the top 100, you're looking at one of those four being an interior defensive lineman. Do you think, you know, Deandre Hopkins was at LAX and and told TMZ that he he's like open open to a conversation with the Vikings. Do you do you think they would ever go in that direction for for WR3 Deandre Hopkins? I don't. Not right now. No, I mean, I do think they bring in some sort of veteran receiver, but I just wonder if it's somebody that has some special teams flexibility. Has wide receiver field type? Somebody like that. That maybe isn't even like designated wide receiver three plus they're doing all this work on undraft wide receivers. Maybe more so. I'm not talking in the first round, but like day two, like, I get it. You swung and missed at least for one year on Ty felt and I still like to think that Ty has a long way to go like that he's going to take a significant step forward here in 26, but I'm not ready to declare

19:59Ty felt and wide receiver three, but I don't know, just based on all the work they've been doing on undraft eligible wide receivers, guys that fit the mold of a day to pick. I don't know if I if I foresee Deandre Hopkins, I get it that he wants it. He's hoping he's trying to will it into existence, but I don't know, I guess I'd be not shocked, but certainly surprised. I think we're doing point now to where where as far as the veterans who are still on the street go, I think we're going to have to get through the draft to see who the Vikings address needs wise in the draft. Like I do think that there might be a second not not big and not real expensive, but a second wave of veterans brought in a few of them if they don't get guys that they want in the draft. So like I think that's why to me the week before the draft, if Grenard is going to get traded, it's probably around then. And then coming out of the draft, it's probably a veteran or two get signed to fill a gap because there's still I mean, heck, we still don't know on Harrison's myth.

21:02We don't know if he's coming back. I don't know what the trigger is there. I don't know if he's like still like in a in a tree stand or something, but is he going to come back? Yeah, exactly. And by the way, he looks damn good. So is he coming back? Are they going to get the guys in the draft? But you know, I always go back to this as well. And it's a long time ago now, but the Jared Allen trade came down right before the draft. So like that, I think we've sort of closed the door on the free agency frenzy bananza of potential things. I think the door sort of closed, but in a couple of weeks, it's going to open again. And that's where we're going to have potentially, I think, some juicy stuff to talk about. Oh, yeah, no, no, yeah, like I'm declared right now, call it reckless speculation of your what? I mean, the Vikings are signing another street free agent. But yeah, I mean, if you don't go wide receiver day two, okay, like maybe, I don't know if I put Hopkins

22:05at the top of the list, but yeah, I mean, the Vikings are not done signing free agents. Yes, maybe more realistically, it's a month from now. It's late April, early May. But yeah, they're not done. So sure, whether it's an interior defensive lineman, a wide receiver, sure. Yeah, I'm not dismissing that whatsoever. Yeah, I want one more just to tie the Granar thing together, and then we'll get into some some other things in in Dougie's scoop bag here. But keep in mind, because my argument is, if you're not really sure that you're a Super Bowl team, I'd rather be a year early, an Granar than a year late and just get value unless no one's offering a day two pick in which case, I guess, whatever. But keep in mind, I keep bringing up this comparison, man, the Seattle Seahawks traded one of their best players for draft capital and got better because they opened, they opened up for a younger player to step in when they traded DK Metcalf. They got draft capital. They've also been nails in the draft the last five years, the Seahawks. And so I get the trepidation from biking spans. But people, I think people are thinking that if you trade

23:06a really good player, it means that you're 100% going to get worse in 2026. And that's not always a linear truth with NFL roster building. I think the only position where it's 100% true is if if you trade a really, really high hand quarterback or lose one and then go into the, you know, young quarterback business and it gets volatile, you've opened up the possibility for some chaos. But I'd rather be a year early on the Bernard front, I guess, is what I will keep hammering here. Let's get to the rest of Dougie's scoop bag here in a second shout out. But yeah, Travis Hunter was sitting court-side like just a couple seats away from Chris Finch. He's in town for an Adidas shoot. There's an Adidas connection. Adidas probably looked at it and said, hey, pretty rare for a team to be in town with two days off before their next home game. So the Wolves don't have a game today. Don't have a game tomorrow. Next play Saturday, late afternoon at home against my guy, JB Bickerstaff and the Detroit Pistons. So there's an Adidas connection there. Say, I'd love to tell you that somehow Travis Hunter's representation was granted permission to seek out a trade partner. The Vikings highly interested. He's here for a physical something like that. But no, there is no Vikings connection to Travis Hunter whatsoever.

26:19There's an Anthony Edwards Adidas connection. So he's a cornerback here, right? Cornerback. Because I mean, he could be wide receiver three, but I don't want to have well, yeah, he would be wide receiver three. Don't you think? Yeah, I mean, you'd have to buy to get the snaps down. But I mean, he's he's here to play cornerback, I think. I would say corner, yes. Renard and what all the respected James Pierre. Yeah, I think Pierre becomes cornerback for Murphy slides inside and you got Rogers and Hunter on the outside. So yeah, I would go way over receiver. And then Doug's in terms of the draft here in less than a month. Running back is is potentially on the radar. And oh, it's not potentially, though, it's absolutely on the radar. I mean, they're drafting a running back. I have no doubt about that. It's a matter of how high you've brought up. I'll say your guy, Emmett Johnson, he's one of us and Nebraska guy. He's probably yesterday. He ran a nice, it was like a 4 4 40. I want to say. Well, it depends on who you're talking to. I mean, he's big and strong. I mean, in shorts,

27:23whether he's running a 4 4 2 or a 4 5 2, I'm not overly concerned. I'm watching the Nebraska game tape. That young man can play rightfully so the big 10 running back of the year. And yeah, he'll visit the Viking. So that is locked in Vikings visit April 10th. He'll be among a handful of running backs. I don't have all the names in front of me. A lot of good reporters out there are tracking these draft visits. Ryan Fowler is one. There's been a number of names out there, but just know like we're talking a good number of running backs that will take visits here with the Viking. So just all signs point to the Vikings drafting or running back at some point. I mean, you think about Phil 2027. Is Aaron Jones here in 2027? I'm kind of amazing. At the rate we're going over here in 2030. He might be. It's April 27th. Ty Chandler leaves for New Orleans. I'm just saying you look at that running back room. Who can you sit here and say right now is here one year from now? I don't think there's one name where you can say, yeah, that guy is here

28:29in 2027. So I just I think the Vikings will draft a running back just a matter of how high. Anything else in your? Yeah, well, I mean, it's down to private. Private meetings. I guess I can't term it a visit, although I guess it would be a visit if it was over zoom, something like that, but more so visiting with teams privately. We're talking about the Cowboys, the Giants, and the New Orleans Saints. All right. Darren Dougie Wolfson. Draft season in full swing. I hope Mike Conley and Aaron Jones are still on their respective Minnesota teams in five years from now. The veteran presence, the guile.
