Wild Lose to Blackhawks, Depth Players Shine

The Minnesota Wild lost 2-1 to the Chicago Black Hawks at home on Thursday, March 19th. This came right after they won the first game of the home and home series on the road, two nights earlier on March 17th. The team was missing key forwards, Marcus Felino, Joel Erickson Eek, and Kieril Kaprizov, who is day-to-day. The Wild started slow again, falling behind early, due to turnovers that put Chicago up by two. They picked up steam in the middle periods, playing with more speed and energy after some scrappy play. Dead players stepped up big time without their top scores. Nichol Sturm scored the lone goal shortly after blocking a shot on his leg, and Rookie Hunter Height picked up the assist for his first NHL point. Both brought physicality and hustle all night. Marcus for Wallstead was solid in net, making key saves including on a breakaway to keep the score close. He faced heavy pressure early, but helped limit the damage.
