Took a while to get there, but the Wild do get both, they stopped the three game slide, and they continue their dominance over the Chicago Black Oaks. Welcome to the post game show, Kevin Falmas in the Bob Courts Radio Center. Tom Reed out there at the United Center, I say dominance, Tom, a little tongue in cheek. Three times the season, the Black Oaks have taken the wild past regulation, but they extend that win streak, or that point streak, now to 19 games dating back to 2019,

1:01while they're doing something right against the Black Oaks, and tonight it took a little extra time. Well, the thing I'm doing right, Kevin is the fact they are winning, and as a result of that, they get two more points here, but you look at what happened the last season at the game number 68. Minnesota 81 points, right now this year, they're at 88 points with plenty of games to go here, so we'll see if they can make some big work here with this hockey club right now. But Minnesota, it wasn't their best effort, I don't think tonight. And so often when you play a team that's less than you in the standings, it's just natural. You feel all this should be an easy game for us, but it wasn't Chicago made it tough once again. How about the play of Marcus Johansson? I mean, Zooka, or I'm sorry, Boldi and Caprice, we're on the ice for a ton of overtime, and they got a ton of chances, but they finally go to the box for a breather, and in comes Marcus Johansson, Matt Zookarello, and they combine for the overtime winner. What a play, what a goal. Yeah, he's had a great year, no question about it. He's been very good all season along with this hockey club.

2:02It started last year, about 10 to 12 games left in the season. He really stepped it up, and he's done that exactly at this year. What do you think it in the rematch tomorrow or Thursday night, wild and hogs going toe to toe once again? Any lessons learned from the wild in this one they can take into Thursday? Yeah, you know what, they're going to have to be better. They have to be better, and Chicago, they're playing, they're pretty relaxed right now. I think Joe may be downstairs right now with a guest. Let's take a run at him, Joe. You ready to go? I don't think he is, but that's okay, Tom. We'll say goodbye to you, and we'll kill some time until we get Joe. Yeah, we may have lost him totally, I'm not quite sure. They're trying to find... That's all right. Well, we'll get it done. Tom, thank you, enjoy the night, safe travels. 3:02Well, actually, why don't we just start with you, and then Joe can pick it up in mid-sentence. A heck of a win, it took a little extra time to get it done, but you guys did get it done in overtime. It has to feel like a relief to get that victory and get off the snide. Yeah, we needed that win. It was a good two points. Yeah, Joe's here, I'm going to give him that phone. Sounds good. Fallen us some down there. Joe, yeah, you can take it right now, live on the air. Hey, you and Ryan Hartman have a floor. Ryan Hartman was doing a great job. Hart, see, let's talk about the win. Obviously, you guys needed that one to get back on track. I guess it really didn't matter how you did it, but you got the two points. How big was it? Yeah, it was big. I think we played a good first, good third. Not a great second, but yeah, we found nobody to get two points, and we go from there. Philip Gustavsson leaves the game, Valsa comes in, Gustavsson comes back, that shake things up for you guys on the bench here. You just try and stay focused to stay with it.

4:03Yeah, just try to stay focused. Try to play in the offensive zone. Don't have to worry about what's going on behind us. Well, I came and made a couple of big sails, and yeah, it's glad we got two. I know the lines kind of juggled throughout courses of any game, really, but just yourself. Teresenko, Zuko Rella, what have you liked in the time you've had with those line mates in that combination? Yeah, we'll play as a hard worker. He's a shooter, find spots. I think Zuko, obviously, we know what he brings with his playmaking ability and passing, and like I said, I don't know, overtime goal, his scoreability. But overall, I've been happy with how we play together. Tom, with Ryan Hartman on the post game show, the wild winning overtime, 4-3 over the Blackhawks, spent time in this organization, drafted by Chicago, grew up in the area. Is this still special when we come back and play here? Yeah, I'd always as, you know, just being back just in the city when you drive in from the airport.

5:04Like I said, I get to spend my summers here, so that's always good to be back. And being in the city. Yeah, I do have the city a lot. Lastly, you play the Blackhawks again on Thursday. What changes do you need to make? Adjustments do need to be made as far as the game playing goes Thursday night. Oh, yeah, I think we're back in the winning column. Just to just play a little more natural, you know, and just obviously play smart, but just let in six take over. Don't force stuff. I'm just playing game. Thanks for doing this. Congrats on the win. Then the second period, Brian Green cuts the lead in half a minute. 40 left to go in regulation. Breaknazar pulls it even. We go to overtime and the Wilder frankly dominated the extra session.

Caracenco's 19th goal of the season, by the way, three goals in the last two contests. This one gave them a nice little two goal cushion at the end of the first period, but you know how it goes from there. A couple of goals for the black box, including these ours. 11th of the year, 42nd, make that a minute 40, left to go in regulation, pulls it even, and then it's up to Matt Zuccarello to bail him out with his 13th of the year. Johansson in favor of the assist on that one. It's a 4-3 overtime win for the wild tonight in front of 20,668 at the United Center. Big night for Brock Faber, awarded the number one star of the game. And he had three assists on the contest. Three points for Marcus Johansson as well, who had a goal and two helpers, including setting up Matt Zuccarello on the overtime game winner.

9:09Good stuff, right? The big thing is the wild do come away with the victory and they stop the slide. Get their 39th win of the season, their 90th point, stop the three game losing streak. Now two and two in the last six overall, but five one and one in their last seven on the road. They improved the three and oh on the season series against the black box. They'll put a cap on that come Thursday at Grand Casino Arena, wild now 18, oh and one in the last 19 against the Hawks, nine, oh and one in the last 10 at Chicago. Gustus in returns with about 333 left to go in regulation and he gets the victory again on 21 saves. He's now won four of his last five starts. He's 11, 2 and 1 in his last 14 and again, Chicago, the 7, 0 and 1 all time, Philip Gustus in the XL energy, big saves of the game. While get the victory, Vladimir Teresenko, three goals in the last two games, Capri Sap, points in 17 to the last 21, he's got 28 points in the last 21 games, now get tonight with his assist, has 80 points on the season, Ryan Harman also a goal on this night, three points in, three points in two games, that's a goal and two assists had the goal tonight, seven points all time against the team that draft them, that would be the Chicago black hawks, wild end up winning in overtime, they take out the black hawks, four, three in overtime up next for the wild, coming off this win, they get to return home to stop a bad run at Grand Casino Arena, in a four game home stand against teams like

13:17Philadelphia, New York and Toronto, storied franchises, that's for sure, but this year they're not good, wild drops three in a row to those teams at the seller of the Eastern Conference standings, now the question is what can they do when they get back on home ice? Time will only tell, looks like John Hines is ready to address the media, real quick let's get you out to the United Center and join them in progress. Time and even though your starts weren't as bad as maybe thought they were, the three game streak it was clearly better tonight, what was different? Well I think we got rewarded for it, you know I think, you know, two of the starts prior to this game where we wanted to, but I thought Toronto game we did and then tonight we got off to a good start and then we want to put in the puck and then that. You have so many guys that have played different roles tonight because of some of the people you were missing, a lot of different combinations including the one that teamed up with the game winning goal. We don't see those three guys on the ice very often together, what were your thoughts on the way some of the guys stepped up in different roles? I thought guys did a good job, you know, and we, I think when you have some injuries and

14:19things like that, you like to, you know, try different things, particularly it might be sentiment, you know, with EQL, just left thoughts, right thoughts, offensive zone versus diesel, but I thought in general the guys, the guys did a good job. The sequence with your goal tenders late is something we haven't seen before. What was going on? What went through your mind to decide to go back to Gus? It looked like he hesitated for a little bit before making that call? Yeah, well I wasn't sure like he went right off, you know, and obviously in Colorado when he got sick, so I wasn't sure if it was equipment or if it was sickness or whatnot, but obviously it wasn't anything physical. So once we realized it wasn't physical, radioed up with, you know, Freddie and Discuss with him and we felt his best decision to go back to Gus. I think Wally did a great job. He had two huge stops for us when he came in, so it was great that he was ready to go and he was a big part of the win as well. How was the adventure team? How was that help when you give up a goal late like that, they were able to kind of respond and stay calm throughout the situation? Yeah, obviously it was a tough goal to give up, but you know, I thought, you know, when we went to the 3-on-3, I thought obviously the 3-on-3 play was good and smart and it was

15:21penetrating on offense and I thought we did a good job there to ice the game. Driven to see Chicago again, they played you tough all year. What is it about them that makes it that way? I think they're a good team. I mean, they're fast. They're, you know, they're tenacious. They keep coming and, you know, they're certain things in their team that they do well that I think when they can establish and take momentum at certain points in the game, they're, you know, like every team in the NHL, I think there's a lot of good players there that well coached. They work hard. They got some good team speed. So, you know, if you're not on top of your game any night, anyone can beat anyone in any given night. What did you think of the reception for Nick during that first period of time out in the trivia video and everything? I thought it was great. Obviously, Nick had a big impact on a lot of the younger guys that they have and was the team captain and, you know, I think it's always nice when a former player, but not only a former player, a captain, you know, comes back to their, their old team and gets a reception like that. So, I thought it was well done by the Black Hawks, the fans and really good for Nick. One of the things that you wanted to build on on the trade deadline was to improve on the face-off style. Over the last six games, now you're in the top five in the league tonight, 60 percent

16:24without your guy who takes the most face-offs in the lineup. Some of it's new guys. Some of it's the same guys. What's been different? Well, I think it's, you know, it's helped that I think we've added some guys that are good on face-offs and good sentiment. You have some wingers now that can take face-offs, but I think overall, in general, the face-off intensity has been good, whether it's been the center or, you know, we call it kind of called the line of scrimmage, whether it's the wings or the D, the secondary guys that come in. I think there's more tenaciousness and willingness for puck battles, and we're doing the right things in those areas as well. You mentioned that tonight, Joe Hanson playing well, even though he wasn't scoring tonight, I've seen three points. How much can skip a little bit of a left out of the stretch to get that production tonight? I think it always gives a player, you know, a left out, I think Jojo, you know, provides a lot for our team night in the night out, and I think when you, you know, have a guy like him that plays a lot of important situations for us to be able to have a break on night like tonight is really good for him.
