Devon Hamilton is the reason why the Jacksonville Jackwars

have not inquired about Dexter Lawrence.

it's all about Devon Hamilton and you better appreciate him

while he's a Jackwara.

At the pre NFL draft press conference,

James Glaston, the Jack's GM,

was asked about Dexter Lawrence.

And I kind of knew where he was going.

Basically, he's under contracts from somebody else.

We can't be talking about players,

but he did say this.

Now, we haven't done anything.

But he's under contracts, so we can't talk about it.

I believe him.

Did they think about it?

I think they think about every player

when it comes time to talk to the pro personnel

that's outside of the house that made come up.

Look, this guy's out here.

Look, he's talking about this.

This is what it is.

This is what it is.

So Dexter Lawrence makes $20 million a year this year

with the Giants.

He wants to redo his contract.

It's not enough.

He wants to go ahead and make sure his future is solidified.

Devon Hamilton makes $11 million.

Well, $7 million in salary,

and he has $11 million a capit for the Jaguars this year.

I think that's the number.

I know he makes about $7 million bucks and not $20.

I could argue that he played better.

He has a $12 million capit, $7 million salary,

got a pro rate signing bonuses,

but about $4 million.

So it comes out to $11, $12 million.

But his salary is $7 million.

He played better than Dexter Lawrence did a year ago.

Now, I know that there, you know,

reasons to go through

and why those things happen.

I don't think anybody is saying that he's had a better career

than Dexter Lawrence.

But for the Jaguars to make a move like that,

they would have to clear more cap space.

That's one.

Two, they give up compensation.

And I heard it was going to start with a first round draft pick

that they don't have in 26.

They'd have to give up 27.

So you'd mean to tell me this.

I'm going to give up a player

that played because I guarantee you,

if you trade for Dexter Lawrence,

you're going to have to give up Devin Hamilton.

And probably a second round, right?

So I'm going to trade a second round pick

in a player that actually played better than the big name guy.

And I'm going to have to pay that guy more money

that I'm paying said player here.

Now, count me out.

There are a lot of people that were making this

about just go get Dexter Lawrence, do whatever.

You got to do to get him.

And one thing about Jaguars fans,

they've always been this way.

But they're really that way now that they've had some success.

Every name that comes up, go get him.

Every single one.

I'm talking about if the dude has half a pulse

and he's been to a pro bowl or an all pro

at any point in his career,

Jaguars got to go get him.

No, they don't.

They absolutely do not have to do that.

One reason is because Devin Hamilton actually

was one of the top four or five nose tackles in the league

and he might have been even top three just a year ago.

In the first year with the new regime,

why would they trade him?

They were number one in the NFL against the run.

And as much credit as I give Trayvon Walker

and everybody else for that.

Devin Hamilton was the biggest reason.

You could tell for you a little bit,

the dude that keeps him clean,

we're just going to get rid of him and see how he responds.

I believe somebody on this team,

it could have been Josh Heinz Allen.

It could have been Jordan Lewis.

They might have been four years.

So they all will come.

They said Devin Hamilton is one of the best nose tackles

in this league because they do things.

They do things that don't show up in the stat sheet.

They do things that make things a lot easier for everyone else.

And you'll miss him when he's gone.

Don't believe me.

I remember I'm going to tell you the biggest regret.

Well, two of the biggest regrets that Jaguars have ever made.

I recall somebody telling me that there was a certain decision

maker that said they weren't paying Keenan all of that money to

stay here because he act like he's freaking Jerry Rice.

Might as well be in Jerry Rice because they missed Keenan

McCartell and they spent forever trying to replace him when he

left here.

The other one was Marcus Stroud.

No way they should have let Marcus Stroud ever walk out of here

and go play for the Buffalo Bills.

The duel was fantastic, but they did.

And they regret it both of them.

You regret this if you let Devon Hamilton go.

If you don't think there are all this passwords passwords.

Well, there's a team with passwords like Michael Parsons, right?

Even if Michael Parsons is healthy.

The Green Bay Packers had a problem stop at a runner.

And it's worse that he's not healthy because now he's going

miss most of at least the early part of the year.

But it's an example of what happens when you have too much

or one thing and not enough of the other.

And the one thing is the thing that everybody talks about

because that's what gets to the sacks and pressure.

That's what gets all the credit.

This is the other thing that coaches talk about more than anybody else.

And when you don't have it, you get worried and concerned like

Peter Bikowski is for locked on Packers.

Listen to this Jaguar fan.

The biggest red flag for me right now with this roster is

how are they going to stop the run on the interior?

It is going to have to be slants and stunts and and run blitzes

and whatever they can do in free agency.

If there's more free agents to come here.

DJ Reader is still out there.

Kaleas Campbell is still out there.

We'll see what happens post June 1.

Guys, I've said it on on locked on Packers for weeks now.

I don't love this defensive tackle class.

And I don't know that they're going to get someone in this class

who can immediately step in maybe long term.

Maybe you're two, you're three.

They find someone that can do that for them.

Remember the Eagles in 2022 as good as that team was.

They traded up for Jordan Davis.

They traded up playing like 30% of snaps that season.

They needed to go out and sign and Dominic and Sue and Linville Joseph

just to be a possible run defense.

So that is the interior defensive line spot is where I'm going.

Man, I don't I don't know if this is good enough right now.

Their problem is they have a whole bunch of dudes that by

position are best at three technique.

Devante Wyatt.

They signed up.

They signed that came from San Francisco where he came from

Philly.

Then he went to San Francisco after that.

And the Jaguar fans wanted to sign him as well.

Remember a couple of weeks ago when when the Jaguars were still

scouring around for interior defensive line help,

according to us anyway, turns out they weren't looking at all

because they haven't done anything.

Javon Hargrave.

Due that made a boatload of money in free agency a couple of

years ago after leaving Philadelphia.

I think you left Pittsburgh went to Philadelphia didn't you left

Philadelphia went to the 49ers got like 90 million dollars.

And in any sign for like I think two years 24 million or something

like that to go to Green Bay.

And even if those numbers aren't right a whole bunch of Jaguar fans

say well why aren't we ain't going to get them?

Well obviously the Jaguars are happy where they are.

But I keep telling people the two letters.

DT has people in a headlock defensive tackle because folks

think that those guys are just able to be able to move around

and play certain spots.

You just heard Peter Bacowski when they traded Kenny Young they

lost a nose tackle right and they still can't stop the run.

So be careful what you risk for when all you think about is

pass rush, pass rush, pass rush.

And you don't understand how guy like Devon Hamilton leads

you to be number one in the league against the run.

Right?

Because he is the biggest reason why they were number one in the

league against the run.

And the take tells the coaches one thing but then the fans

because we always talk think about sack, sack, sack.

Until a dude wants some money like Johnny can go away and then

everybody says where he doesn't stop the run ain't that something.

Now to the fans credit you need to be able to do both.

And the Jaguars do need to improve their pressure.

Guys just have to play better.

But I'll tell you this.

Getting rid of Devon Hamilton is not the answer.

It's not.

Other people just have to play better.

I think we need to show that man a little bit more appreciation

here in Jacksonville because you go miss it when it's gone.

I'll never leave you.
