Whitburn's Community Development Trust is stepping up to manage the Towns Community Center starting April 1st. The Trust, which has been fully running since 2019, will operate the building through a recharge lease with West Lothian Council as part of. Broughter changes kicking in that month. The center just reopened after a full refurbishment and boasts a big sports hall, soft play area, squash court, two fitness rooms, changing areas, showers, and five meeting rooms perfect for events. It sits on spacious grounds along Mans Drive, ready for all kinds of community use. David McDonald, the Trust Manager, shared that the team is thrilled about the handover. They work closely with the previous Management Committee who donated assets to keep things going strong for locals. Now, they're calling on everyone in Whitburn to pitch in and help make it a hit. Bookings are open right away for rooms, activities, or events. Just email the center for details. From May, expect hours from 8.30 a.m. to 9.00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on weekends.
The Trust has served Whitburn since 2009 as a volunteer-run charity, focused on easing poverty, boosting well-being, and building a brighter future. With their support hub, food store, advice services, and community garden already thriving nearby, this takeover promises even more ways to bring the town together.
