When Life Doesn't Look The Way You Want

0:00I'm Makayla and this is Daily Life. When I was growing up, something strange used to happen in our yard. Every year, just random corn stalks would just pop up. No garden roads, no careful planning, just a few tall corn plants standing there like, hey, we live here now. Probably for you, some context that would be helpful is to know that right across our shared driveway, there was a huge corn field. So those seeds that were intended for the field they were thrown in across the road, they made it across into our yard and to the great delight of me and my siblings. And see, that's the thing about seeds. They don't always need permission. They don't announce themselves right away. But if they're planted, they will produce something. That's exactly what Paul is getting at in Galatians 6.7. It says, don't be misled. You cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. You will always harvest what you plant. That's a pretty clear truth, right? You don't get one result while living one way. You always harvest what you plant eventually.

1:00And just like those random corn stalks in our yard, sometimes the habits that you have might be kind of harmful and lead to something down the road that you didn't even plan for. This verse isn't just a warning, but it's also a promise because this principle works both ways. Why seeds that are planted produce good plants? Faithfulness produces fruit. Obedience grows something solid over time. Think about it like a garden. You can't plant tomatoes and get a cucumber. You can't plant laziness and expect growth. You can't plant pumpkins and get grapes. You can't plant selfishness and expect strong relationships. But the opposite is also true. When you plant forgiveness, peace grows. When you plant discipline, strength grows. When you plant time with God, faith takes root. So today, here's a simple challenge for you. Take a seed inventory. Look at what you're planting with your time, your money, your energy, your relationships. Then ask yourself this honest question.

2:02What kind of harvest is this going to produce? And if you don't like what you see growing, don't lose hope. You can always plant new seeds today because the seeds you plant now determine the harvest that you'll see later. Let's pray. God, thanks for letting us choose what we're planting and harvesting.
