It is interesting how our body speaks to us. They were showing me consequences. I don't know if you remember, I had this conversation with them not too long ago where I was like, I don't want consequences. But we do. It's information. Consequences are just information. You can have good consequences but consequences. It's just information. So, I was using the example of food. Like, I emotionally eat at times and I've leaned into that too much as a form of pleasure or indulgence. And my body responds that you can't do that, right? It's because I end up, you know, I gain weight and my skin isn't good and like all these things will happen. Because I'm not honoring me and not honoring my vessel and my vessel is telling me you can't do that, right? This is why like some people can eat the moon and back and nothing, right? And other people can have the slightest thing. And it's like because your heart prefers this or that.
Or there's a lie or a tangles somewhere. There's all types of things, right? But it's your body saying, here's this consequence. Do you like it? And so for me, you know, the consequence of skin and weight. No, I don't like that. Well, then stop doing it. I don't want to stop doing it. I enjoy eating it. It brings me pleasure. And the idea is yes. But are there other things that bring you pleasure? Yes. Are there other things that bring you more pleasure than that? Yes. Can you work on indulging in those more? Right? Like it's a way for your body to steer you and guide you and inform you, inform you. You can stay doing this thing that you like, but that ends up being greedy, gluttonous, right? And you're not experiencing what your heart wants to, the full of life. And it has the consequences of your, you know, your skin, your hair, your weight. And then you get upset about that. And it affects your confidence.
And then it affects, it's like this ripple effect. And then it does get depressive because then you're like, how did this happen? What do you mean? Right? Because you weren't listening. You weren't staying present. You weren't. And so it's like, right around the rosy we go. One more not saying present. And we're not listening to our heart. And our truest heart's desire where we're, you know, it's, it's the idea that I've shared where. It's a, it's like a form of avoiding, right? It's, it's, it's the same idea of, of alcohol or drugs or sex. It's the same. It's all the same. It's just pick your pleasure, kind of thing. Pick your avoidance, right? Anything that we indulge in too much. It's like our Achilles heel kind of thing. And we suffer the consequences. So then stop doing it. And then we have a hard time, you know, unraveling that at times where we don't see it all the way through recognizing. Like, oh, we're doing it because it does bring us some pleasure. Whether it's avoidance, right, avoiding what it is.
We're really looking to do. Or we're overindulging. And that's with everything in life, right? Overthinking, right, or over whatever. And then there's also the under not pushing yourself enough or not, you know, that, that, that, that. But I thought that was interesting how we were, we were just talking about information. And it's always a choice, right? It's always a choice. Many people choose to stay stuck in their addiction or avoidance or pleasure indulging there. But when we suffer negative consequences, it's up to us. Like, it's, there's shown me a few things here. It's up to us, like, do we really want better for ourselves? Or do we want, are we choosing to stay with those negative consequences? In other words, your indulgence is more important to you than the negative consequences.
Or is your heart's desire stronger to stop that addiction? Does that make sense? It's like, whatever stronger is going to win. And so, you have to decide, because if you don't, that's deciding too. That's allowing it to win, right? When you're not, it's like putting up a fight or putting forth an effort to make the changes. Do the scary thing, do the harder thing. But it's, it seems like it's harder because you've just gotten familiar in that pattern of addiction. And so, to remain, force yourself to remain conscious and choose differently can feel and be a struggle at times. But if we ask ourselves the right questions in those moments, it's like, I, that's silly, of course. Of course, I'd rather feel better in my body. What am I doing? Do I even want this right now? Or is it just habitual, right? Sometimes we can use the excuse that, like, let's just keep food as the example.
But it tastes good. I really like it. I want to endulge in it. Yeah, but you're not even hungry right now, right? Like, it's one thing to endulge in what you like when you're, when you're hungry. And you need to satiate yourself. It's another thing to just pick it up and eat all the time out of avoidance, right? Because it's a boredom because you're not listening to what you're being called to do or you're having a hard time even sitting still, right? Or sitting with yourself or sitting with the discomfort, right? Sometimes we need to feel that because that could be giving us information too. We tend to push it away. It's like, no, no, why? It's information. And sometimes it's to, to, to just watch it, you know, just watch your mind go silly and not, feed into it or associate with it, you know? Because sometimes when we do that, give it even that attention, like a child, it can then see itself and then stop it.
