We've been doing these lottery team previews kind of as a little primer for some of these fan bases that are getting excited watching those standings day by day. And finally, I said, you know what, we got to get to Utah. Jazz fans. Let's get after it. So today's episode I wanted to break down why this is, you know, obviously you taught jazz fans. You're keeping an eye on this because this is a, this is the holy grail for lottery. But this one could be especially dangerous for jazz fans. And I'm going to tell you why we're going to start breaking down the, the big names, you

3:04know, Darren Peterson versus a jada band. So who I think might fit a little bit easier, smoother, obviously to mega talents. You'd be excited just to get either. And then one of the most interesting dilemmas would have hypothetically the jazz end up at three. And you got a balanced little camera booster versus Caleb Wilson discussion. And also why hey, if they do get, you know, that fifth pick or a right outside of the top three, why it could secretly be a blessing for a team like the jazz. So we got a lot to discuss. Let's get after it. Utah right now, as of today, we're recording this, they're 18 and 42. They are four and a half games back of the number one pick standings or whatever you want to say of the Sacramento Kings. They are a game and a half back of jumping to fourth Washington's right ahead of them. And they have just a half a game difference between them and the New Orleans Pelicans AKA the Atlanta Hawks got out there a queen. So things are up in the air. But right now, Utah's sitting pretty good at the five spot. They're obviously trying to make sure that they hold on to their pick, which is one through

4:06eight protected. If it is outside of that, it goes to O.K.C. The race is on for a lot of these teams. Now Utah has been a team that has been making a little bit of noise when it comes to like the NBA trade deadline. They make the big swing to get Jaron Jackson Jr. Be an interesting offseason and kind of see the direction of the team if they're going to be all in. But clearly that was a sign with that trade of like Utah is trying to make some noise next year. Kionte George, fantastic year when it comes to the growth. A lot of pieces on that roster that continue to be intriguing. Obviously Walker Ketzler has been a name mentioned over the last couple of years of like as he stands. Until he's moved, it seems like they're going to try to stay in. If it would make sense, you don't want to go to down that rabbit hole, but it would make sense after that Jaron Jackson trade if they're trying to keep Ketzler just because of the rebounding. Laurie Marketing, still awesome. Ace Bailey I think is right on track when it comes to like his development. So people don't agree, but they have a plan and I'm very, very excited to see that you

5:10know, flower continue to blossom. So that Utah is in a different position than others. They're one of these teams that are trying to get one of these top five picks. Obviously, the Indian of Pacers have had a lot of success with it. It comes to getting to the NBA finals and all of a sudden they're projected to be one of the top three picks in this class. So I think Utah is hoping that they can land one of these top selections and then have a little magic when it comes to like, all right, let's quickly now the rebuilds taken five steps forward. That's obviously the dream when it comes to thinking, but we're going to stay optimistic because I love jazz fans and that's what we're going to do. So let's let's break down the two headed monster to start this. Now obviously, if you're a jazz fan and the lottery comes and you get lucky and you're dancing, you know, doing back flips, you land the number one pick or you land the second pick. Let's just say for now, they land one of those two picks, you're going to have the choice or opportunity to land Darren Peterson or A.J. to Banta. Automatically, you're going to be thrilled.

6:10Now, yes, let's start with Darren because I know what everyone's going to be thinking with A.J. and the BYU connection and let's just start with Darren Austin, Ange, Danny Ange in front of office, never been afraid to go against, you know, what everyone might think. Obviously, look back, you know, they have the big history with trading back from one to fill it all for you, basically trading back from the opportunity to drop Mark L. Foltz to go back to three to draft Jason Tatum. They've never been afraid to move, you know, around the board. They've never been afraid to move back for the guy that they like. But I also think, you know, everyone in the world might be like, well, hey, they're going to take A.J. advance. They're still going to go through this whole process. And with Darren, it would be a fascinating fit because, look, Kionte, George has now kind of sort of cemented himself, I believe, as a legit building block in this, but it's still team philosophy. Do you want to get another guy alongside him that can kind of share the duties? You could play a little combo guard with size and Kionte and Darren Peterson, or do you want to try to get like a make you basically, you're going to have a crossroads of like,

7:14okay, you're either going all in on making Kionte the one, or you're going to try to not get him away from that, but also like split the role, if that makes sense. I think Kionte is just fantastic and you're not drafting to try to change the position of somebody else. You would try to almost draft them to compliment each other, which they could fantastically. I think Darren would be a great fit there. He would be a potential superstar on the perimeter, makes everyone's games, all of a sudden comes to another level. If you're starting backwards, around six, three, six, four, and six, six, awesome, great potential get upside. That'd be great. I know Darren's kind of been a name that if you're a jazz fan and you're like, well, hey, this kid's been in out of the lineup, the phone love with Darren. He's one of these quiet, hardworking kids that is battled through an injury this year that has just been a hamstring injury. That has just been brutal to try to play with. Obviously, he's looked much better and healthier coming back these last couple of weeks, or hopefully he stays healthy for a conference tournament and hopefully march madness.

8:18With Utah, it would be an unbelievable get because you quickly insert, hey, Kionte, Darren Peterson and Ace Bailey is a pretty fun trio on the perimeter to grow with. You haven't mentioned, you know, Laurie Markinan and Karen Jackson, Jr., and with Walker Custles, Kyle Fulpowski, you're getting some fun depths. You're getting some fun, real building blocks on that roster. So yeah, Darren to be fantastic. But let's bring up the other monster, AJ to Bansa. Now, AJ has been, you know, a popular like, hey, if Utah has the opportunity to draft the AJ, would they really pass up this? It have to be a pretty loud endorsement for Darren Beeserson. Obviously, the funny outcome here would be somehow if Utah landed one and someone wanted to trade up for Darren, and they could still go back and draft the AJ. I think personally, if you're a team that landed the number one pick and you have a guy that you clearly want, you're not risking that, you're just taking them at one. So let's say it's AJ, which would make all the sense in the world, everyone would be

9:22like, hey, they're really going to pass this up, you know, Boston kid, that play at BYU, the ages, all the connections you want, ownership, whatever you want to say, I get it. I understand everything. We're just having fun here, okay, folks. It's March 1st. Congratulations, by the way, for folks, it's March 2nd, as you're listening to this. But let's say they go AJ. So the fit gets interesting because one, you're not passing up, drafting as someone like AJ, if you think he's the best player, just because of your last draft pick. And that's no slander to Ace Bailey. I love Ace Bailey. I love them as a prospect. I think he's going to be a heck of an NBA player, I just think he was one of those guys that needs a little bit more time. So you're probably going to have to AJ was being like, hey, we think they could coexist. Absolutely they could. One's more of an off-ball shooter that needs a little bit more handle work. One's more of an on-ball guy that needs a little bit of a handle work. But you could see if those two clicked together, very easily those skills could coexist on the basketball court together because of the shooting of Ace Bailey, the movement shooting,

10:27the athleticism and the length with AJ's size. You're all of a sudden get two, six, eight, six, nine guys with serious offensive weaponry alongside an unbelievable shooter and key out to a George and playmaker. And then just jumbo gigantic, you know, bigs. They would be ginormous this team. So I'm just focusing on the fit there. Like AJ's been unbelievable the last couple of months. I think he's been tremendous. The gross you've seen in his game, he'll be a little over 19 when he's drafted his birthday. I'm sorry, he just turned 19 in January and of January. So yeah, pretty young. And you're starting to see the real impressive gross with his game. Average in 24, 6 and 3 just under 25, 7 and 4 for his stats. 1.1 steals 2.9 turnovers, shooting splits of 53, 36, 75 right now. Last couple of months, I thought he's been tremendous with just not only the production. He's put forth, but also the improvement in his play, especially when it comes to the feel.

11:31If you watch AJ from the beginning of the year and the last month, last five or six games, completely different player when it comes to processing, seeing the floor, playmaking, trusting his teammates, which says a lot too because he's putting up these ridiculous box scores with Rijisandr's out of line up, but it's also he's understanding how to balance scoring and trusting his teammates. It's a mature thing. It's been a good swing for someone to show some maturity on the court and understanding of kind of the game. I mean, last, last quick hitter, AJ has had 20 or more points in his memory game since February 4th. 36, 28, 36, 20, 35, 29, 29, 20, pretty good. So he has been on a bit of a heater, folks, as we like to play that. And, you know, the game before was Kansas, he had 17 and then the two games before he had 24 and 43. So AJ's been heating up a little bit and he's been playing good.

12:33And I think it's just been a tremendous talent. Obviously, your jazz fan, you're probably pretty familiar with Mr. Bansa, but I think that fit would be even more exciting because of the potential duo firepower they would have at Ace Bailey and AJ. We're going to take a quick break. And I'm going to tell you why, if you talk into the third pick, it might be the most fascinating dilemma of the entire draft. We'll be right back. We've been getting after it with some of these lottery team previews. First segment, we kind of broke down, you know, AJ to Banson, Darren Peterson, why you'd be very exciting for jazz fans too. To get one of those two players should be pretty, pretty fun way to dream if you're a jazz fans. But let's say, you know, things change up a little bit. Now, as I said in the first segment, Utah right now, as we're recording, fifth pick right now in lottery standings, obviously, lottery will be, you know, kind of the official judge and jury and executioner when it comes to who has their own pick and who's going to stay in this draft. Utah right now is slotted at the five spot. Their pick is one through eight protected. That means if it's somehow where to fall out, it would go to Oklahoma City, Thunder. So let's play hypothetical and say, somehow Utah, you know, they're only looks like two and a half

15:39or excuse me, three games back of Brooklyn for the third pick. Let's say somehow they get up there or they end up at the third spot overall, whether it's the lottery or, you know, somehow the standings go chalk at the lottery, which we very if it all of a sudden happens this year. Let's say Utah's on the board at three and AJ to Banson and Darren Peterson go one too. I think we could bring forth one of the funniest and most chaotic dilemmas in previous draft history. Now for those of you that are still getting caught up with the draft, AJ to Banson and Darren Peterson are going to be viewed by many as probably two of the early favorites to go in the first two picks. Obviously a lot can happen in the pre draft process or, you know, no one's no one's chalk. We've always got some curve balls couple of years ago. It seemed like going up into the draft that Jabari Smith was going to be the first overall pick by the early in the magic until all of a sudden it was like, wait a second, they're taking polo now.

16:40That's why we love the draft. It is our version of a reality show. But the running favorites right now, AJ to Banson, Darren Peterson to be one, two in some order. Cameron Booser and Caleb Wilson are in that big four conversation, but many would probably say right now they might end up being just out of it. So let's say they are out of it and they're on the clock with Utah at three. What's the direction you go? And the reason why I think this dilemmas hilarious is because look, the angels would love Cameron Booser. That's their type of guy. They also hired, you know, cam's father Carlos a couple years ago to be a scout with the jazz. Prevents are presented obviously a funny little side story. But if there's one person that could potentially get Cameron Booser or be in that conversation to really push and get a team like Utah to pick someone other than Cameron Booser, it's the mentality of Caleb Wilson. You would be talking about two players with incredibly high intentables. Everything you hear about these two players

17:41is fantastic when it comes to their character, their work ethic, their basketball IQ, everything you would love to hear if you're a jazz fan. Now, personally, I think you'd be thrilled with each. I think you'd be thrilled with one of these four guys. But when it comes to the Cameron Booser and Caleb Wilson, I think it's just more of an interesting philosophy of what direction would you go? All of a sudden, if this happened, this Utah team would suddenly become incredibly deep at the forward position. If he says like we talked about earlier, you have the Kionte George and Ace Bailey, the bucket getters kind of in your back court. I know Ace is more of a wing, but your front court is suddenly getting a little stack with guys like Kyle Fulipowski, Walker Kessler, if he's around, Lori Markinan, if you want to argue and say that he's going to play this free, okay, you're not going to get an argument from me, but I'm still considering him a four that plays on the perimeter a little bit more. So then you're just trying to figure out like, okay, well, what does this look like moving forward? If you're adding like a Kion Booser,

18:42or if you do add one of those guys, are you potentially then saying, yeah, like Lori's played the three before and Cleveland, we can kind of push him out a little bit, fine. Whatever you want to do. I still think if you're Utah, you're taking the best player available regardless of position. You'd be thrilled to be having a top four pick in this draft, but it just presents some interesting storylines. Now, I think Kion would be an unbelievable fit for the jazz organization. I think jazz fans would love how productive, how just goes to work every night, brings it, how no nonsense he is, how competitive the leadership he has, and it's not just like the vocal on the court, it's a lot of behind the scenes leadership where guys kind of understand, you'd see plenty of videos. If you go watch cams behind the scenes for duken stuff, they pull out of these videos out. Kion Booser speaks the whole locker room listening and he's one of those guys that fires his team up. So I think it would be an unbelievable fit and it's no, you know,

19:43I don't think the jazz would ever be in a position to be like, look, we have all these guys, we can't take Kion Booser. No, you take Kion Booser, you'd be thrilled about it. So it would just be an unbelievable bit, like also just trying to figure out the future fit, but I think for a team like the jazz to all of a sudden land a player like Cameron Booser, he's gonna be good for 10 plus years and be really, really good for 10 plus years. So I think it would be a big win. Obviously you might be bummed that not getting, you know, one or two getting AJ, I get it, but Cameron Booser, you'd be thrilled. But the other guy, I think it'd be just as thrilled and funny enough, a rival college of Cameron Booser. I think Caleb Wilson would be a very fun wrinkle with this team. And if there's one front office that has a history of being like, we're seeing our guy, we want him really badly, it would probably be the ages. Austin, age and Danny, age when it comes to Caleb Wilson. Now Caleb Wilson has everything you'd want. He plays with a competitive fire

20:44that's up there with anyone. A lot of people, a lot of fans, you know, throw out Kevin Garnett with him when they watch Caleb Wilson just because of how intense he is. And I'm not there, I've said that plenty of times, like easy, I don't compare to people to KG, but you get it when you watch him. He plays the game with joy and competitive fire and is a freak of nature when it comes to length, fluidity, rebounding, all of these tools in which he's a monster right now. And it seems like 50% of the game's been found. So you would understand a team like Utah being like, hey, but if we didn't get one of these top two guys, Caleb's got the upside with all of these guys. And maybe we could be drafting this guy that really could develop into something special. I would get it both ways. I think Caleb would be an unbelievable get for any team. I think for Utah, it would present another great piece that you can be patient with.

21:44I know jazz fans don't want to hear that. They're probably tired of being patient. You guys probably like, we just traded for Jared Jackson. No, we need to win now. But if the ceiling all of a sudden was four times higher with one of these certain guys, you'd probably think he'd go with that route. And I think, let's say Ace Bailey hits his stride and becomes the player we're all hoping he could. And then let us say you draft Caleb Wilson. Maybe he finds that. Is that a long shot? Maybe. Do you have an organization or a front office that has had history with being very patient letting these guys find the groove? Yes, you do. If those two found it and look, they've done it before, you know, you look at Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum, two guys that needed time to find their game. They found it. Boston did that. If all of a sudden you had these two, these are terrifying high upside talents. So that's why Caleb Wilson would be a really interesting fit there at three. It could make a serious dilemma because you understand going both way.

22:45I think him would be really hard to pass up. I think any front office feels that way. But I understand. And I think the Caleb Wilson would be a name that could really make some noise. It would make a lot of sense, like a realistic sense if you're a jazz fan. So all right, let's take a quick break. And then what if Utah doesn't land a top four pick? What if they land five? We talked about, hey, what if they go up and land one of the top two picks? Hey, what if all of a sudden they land at three? Is there a dilemma between Cameron Bruiser and Caleb Wilson? Well, guess what folks? What if they stay chalk as of today? It's March 1st. You're listening to this. It's March 2nd. What if you toss somehow lands the fifth pick and they just stay put? What do they do? Well, my hot take for you is it might end up better for them than if they got one of the other two picks.

26:53Now, I know what you're saying, that's crazy. I get it. It gets ugly if they get up there. You'd be ecstatic and doing a back flip. I would be two if you're Jazz fanning to get one of the first three selections. But at five, it could be something that helps you immediately get going right away and something more of a better fit. Now, we always talk fit. Usually when you're picking up at the top two, you don't care about fit. You care about who's the best player that could be potentially a superstar. But for a team like Utah, maybe it could be a blessing if they got the fifth pick and you get the best fit. Well, let's get out there. Let's talk some options. Now, personally, one of my favorite fits for Utah, and I'm just talking about like, hey, we have a full slate of prospects and you could say like, hey, who are the best options that might fit this team? Regardless of draft positioning or whatnot. I think Kingston Flimmings of Houston would be one of my favorite fits for Utah Jazz. Now, Kingston Flimmings, if you're just getting caught up. 64 190 pound is his listed weight.

27:55Is it height in weight? We always take those with a grain of salt because team websites like to round up. So 64 190 by Houston's website, he will, he just turned 19 in January, tough, two-way guard, incredible feel, fantastic playmaking, understands how to get to spots, be patient, not be out of control. He has elite speed, but he has very good composure and poise. He plays with great change of gears, the questions with Kingston Flimmings. Doesn't take a lot of three pointers. That worries some people. He has them again to the free throw line of thought, a ton lately. That worries some people. My counter to that. He takes care of the ball. He's an unbelievable playmaker. He works to get to his spots and it's not for his own. It's also for how to create driving kicks. He's fantastic at reading a defense. I have no concerns about Kingston Flimmings being a little cold lately. He'll be fine. Kingston Flimmings is a bad dude and he also plays fantastic defense.

28:56The stats right now, 16, 3.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.6 steals, 1.9 turnovers. We love to see that. Shooting splits of 48, 37, 84. As I said, Kingston had a couple, I think two out of three of his last couple of games or two out of four, some rough shooting numbers. So obviously those numbers have been kind of hit down a little bit. But you like to see a lot of his stuff when it comes to his processing. This has been also a year in which a lot of players or evaluators, excuse me. A lot of evaluators have been focused on just like how good some of these advanced production has been from guys like Cameron Booz or BPM, unbelievable year for Cameron Booz or Xanwhites. Guess who's right behind him? Kingston Flimmings as a point guard has been having an unbelievable year when it comes to that too. So I love a lot of the things I've seen with Kingston this year. He's one of my favorite point guards. I think, yes, I have them as my first point guard off the board.

29:57Mark is all fans come after me. Let's talk about that though. So Kingston would be great there. I'd love him. I think him and Kionte George would be a fantastic pairing. Now let's say they like to go in a different direction. Michele Brown is gonna be a name that is in that conversation. Now there's gonna be some, some draft sickos that have been following all year that might be like Michele Brown. Come on man, like it, no, hold on. Let me walk for a little bit, just stay with me. Hill Brown is been a fascinating study this year. He's 6, 5, 190 pounds. He can shoot from the parking lot and a little bit of a late bloomer. So like you see some games this year where Michele's just been like fantastic and awesome. And you kind of get all of a sudden the next couple of games were the inefficient shooting. He's gonna have to showcase like and convince Scouts that that can be consistent, but the upside is up there with a lot of these guys in this class. When he's on, he is a dangerous, dangerous player. Look, he battled some back injuries this year.

30:58Got it squared away, gross spurt stuff, by the way, this is coming from the off season. Got it squared away, comes back, plays a couple of games. He's starting to look solid and then against NC State, he had 45, 9, 2, and 3 steals on 14 of 23. That included 10 of 16 from deep and then you know, follow that up with back to back to 29 point performances. It's been peaks and valleys when it comes to, look at all this year. I think he's a wild card in this point guard class, but absolutely could be in the mix. Darius A-Cuff for pretty much the same reasons as Kingston Fleming's except for the defense, which is a big except. Darius has been unbelievable. At five, it might be a little rich for my taste personally, but I would understand it. And because it's the toughness, it would be more if you're wanting Keyonte to maybe be more of an off-ball guard and you pair him with Darius who could really run the show. Look, I still like Isaiah Collier there. I think that's kind of like a more of an Isaiah Collier,

32:00like you're doubling down on that experience. So if you're keeping both of them, I'm not sure I would get it. The two names I think would be the names at five. Other than Kingston Fleming's, and I just wanted to spotlight the other two, but the two names I think would come down to as Kingston Fleming's are Keaton Woggler of Illinois. Woggler makes a lot of sense for a team like this. Upside, tremendous feel, he needs to add some weight, but a floor spacer that could really open up things and you put him next to Keyonte, George. Oh, that gets seriously fun. Woggler is tremendous playing off the ball, and then you know, he's had the experience this year where all of a sudden, kind of impossible gets hurt. They put him on the ball heavy. He starts to blossom. So he's got fantastic feel and vision, really, really special offensive tools. I think offensively kind of reminds me of Derek White, and I'm talking more of like San Antonio Spurs, Derek White. There's a lot of similarities with that style, that composure.

33:02Now he needs to fill out a little bit more and learn how to play physical, but the shot's beautiful, and you pair him with Keyonte, George, it's really dangerous. You pair those two with Ace Bailey, and whoa, you get really fun in the hurry. So I think Woggler and Kingston Flamings will be at the top of my board if you're talking about for like you toss specifically. I think those two would fit a lot of five.
