It focused on 21-year-old Cornel Felipiche, who attacked a stranger in a phone box, beating her, robbing her, and raping her. Thanks to sharp police work, he pleaded guilty and got 10 years in prison at Birmingham Crown Court last June. CCTV footage played a huge role right from the start. Almost caught the assault, then tracked Felipiche from a nearby pub the victim had visited to his car. Local officers recognized him quickly, leading to his arrest just days later. Forensics sealed the deal with DNA evidence from the waistband of the victim's underwear, linking him directly to the crime. The public protection unit pushed hard around the clock to bring justice fast for the young woman and keep the public safe. Chief Inspector Emma Watson, who led the probe, praised the team's speed in the Forensics experts who made it possible. Felipiche also faces life on the Sex Offenders Register.
