This is your official Air Force Academy history update for the week of September 6th through the 12th. This week back in 1969, the world premiere of the comedy program, here's Lucy. Lucy goes to the Air Force Academy, takes place in Arnold Hall. Lucille Ball and other actors in the program attended the event. The two-part show would air later in September on CBS. Also this week back in 1985, Lieutenant General Robert Springer, Air Force Inspector General, speaks in the Arnold Hall Theater. His appearance was part of the Cadet Commander's Leadership Enrichment Seminar. And this week back in 2000, the B-29 Super Fortress statue is dedicated. The memorial sculpted by Robert Henderson was displayed on the honor court next to the Cadet area but was moved outside of the Academy's new Osmere Visitor Center in the spring of 2026. Finally, this week back in 2001, Air Force reserved major,

Leroy Homer, class of 87 is killed when United Airlines flight 93, on which he was first officer, crashes into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, part of a terrorist attack that involved four hijacked airplanes and took the lives of nearly 3,000 people. His name appears on the graduate warmer memorial on the Academy Tarrazo. For the latest video, four cadets by cadets follow us on YouTube at Usofa official.
