Five million Americans go to work because we make medicines here at home and not relying on other countries keeps us safe. But China is racing to overtake us. Will we let them or will we choose to stay ahead? When America leads, America cures. Let's tell Washington to keep us in the lead. 1:14performance was better. The heart was there. Desire was there. But the result is all too familiar. Hello and welcome to Wednesday. I'm Mark Johnson. He's got to the point now where I'm taking one goal defeats as a moral victory. I'm betting using the handicap system and we're plus one goal or even maybe plus two to be honest. Before we've even kicked a ball and things. One goal deficit. I'm taking that as a bit of a win and that is mental as a football fan. So even say those words, Matt. That's a really truly hideous way of viewing things. James, I'll be honest with you. I mean, you were at that stage. He's that kind of how I love viewing the view in the games or you still ask, but you know, do you lose a game and normally we're coming in and we're absolutely pissed off. We've lost by one goal and I'm like, we scored a goal. We've got Jerry. Yeah, Jerry. We were Jerry. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

2:16No, mate. I'm not at that point yet. I'll be honest with you. I think I've just lost it to your fair. I think I think as a state it last week, I'm looking at individual performances. Now the team performance overall was better yesterday. I think I mentioned it to you and also in our discord chat that it was probably for my money, I thought our best team performance in October and that's taking into account the side that we had in October was significantly stronger than the one that we do have now and I know that's fucking saying something considering the share of shy that we had in October, but I think it was again also matched by how object Darby were for large portions of the game and that's not a criticism because again, the game could have finished four or five one and they were, you know, comfortably the better side, I think over the full 90 minutes definitely certainly created more goal scoring opportunities than ourselves, but yeah, I thought the overall performance was better and we again, for 90 minutes actually were at it, which is we haven't said that much this season, which is a real positive.

3:21Maybe we've actually got some fitness, you know, just with 10 games to go in the season, we're just doing it all upside down, you know, I mean, this is where players are like absolutely on their arses. Yeah, if you're strong, finish to minus six points in it. God of minus seven still anyway. Right, well, we'll get straight into it because I'm sure it's going to be a very busy one as it always is, but for that Joel coming in coach with the super chat already, evening James and Matt, hope you both well on that away and yes, there was a men's whole 90 minutes singing this fan base is just mental finishes with the word proud as well. Yeah, we'll get on to the that that away end yesterday's lots more people in here as well. As always, John says might be getting a point soon. Hopefully, I mean, I think it's crossed. Kerry says, even though we got another goal, yes, we did. I love it. Another celebration. That's for you three and four, two and two for Jerry Hays. He's absolutely prolific. The EVB going on the pace with Jerry Hays. Love it. David says from a Darby fan,

4:26best team most of the first half and the fans are way louder, respect and stay strong. Yep, cheers for that one. Jazz bonkers yesterday to be honest. Don't deserve the support. Big revs, you've got to peak. So what for whatever you got, big revs, just quickly then. What's your goal too for a pizza then Matt? It's got to be thin crust, half and half because I can't make me mind up. I want pineapple nowhere near a pizza. John, you said the word pineapple there. I thought you would actually put it on your pizza and nearly just got rid of you. They're in there to be honest. No, absolutely not. No, no way. Pineapple doesn't belong on a pizza. Sorry to anybody who believes it does. Yeah, I would probably go, I'm looking for chicken, fresh tomato, some ham maybe. Yeah, I'm not really too. First, I'll be honest with you, James. Peter will do. Stove crust, meat feast. God, thank you very much. Garlet bread, let's say it. Let's move on.

5:30Actually, same second, you wrote that sentence, not stuffed meat feast. Get it in the oven. I'm coming round. Right. Yeah, keep all your comments coming in. There's always always good to see them. Has has gone for a playing margarita. No, not a chance. Yeah, let's get into this take over chat. We'll go a bit deeper a little bit later on, but obviously we're getting to the point where another preferred bidder is going to be chosen. If it hasn't already been chosen, obviously, we don't know that. If it hasn't been announced, in my opinion, I think it's a quite important stage for the club because obviously we've already had one preferred bidder, when it would be in absolute waste of time. Now we need to make sure that this is the right one, but ultimately, as I say that, we need to make sure that we haven't got to say in the matter of way, and neither do the administrators as we found out with the bid that James board put in and gusumped everyone seeming to be paying way over the odds, or at least attempting to pay way over

6:34the odds for something that's not worth a great deal at all. No, I agree with you. I think ultimately, yes, it has to be right, and it needs to be the correct bidder through this particular process. But again, as you said, James, nothing from a fan perspective can be done, you just have to sit and wait it out and see who comes out on top of it all. Yeah, exactly. I mean, I think just an observation that I've had over the past. I want to say a week might have been a bit longer, not too sure. There's been a lot of backing for one certain individual from, let's just say, from some significant people in the fan base. I've just been talking about on X, I think Alan Biggs has shown his support to Mike Ashley. Michael Vaughn tweeted, I think they tweeted one word, but he put good in response to an article that said that Mike Ashley is going to be putting a bid in for the Sheffield Wednesday. We've had Carl and Palmer as well. We've had Dave Richards, he's put a monologue earlier on today. I think

7:36a couple actually talking about it was strange when he was supposed to be interested in buying it. And now he's actively backing someone else to buy the club. And then we've had Joe Kran as well. I don't understand nearly as close to the mast, but showing a lot of support in favour of one person and things. Yeah, it just seems a lot of unwavering support for Mike Ashley, all of a sudden, when you look on the socials. A lot of people seem to be putting a lot of stock behind a hundred million figure that Mike Ashley, correct me if I'm wrong, has never actually said. My personal opinion, James, again, I spoke in discord about it, and I'm very aware that my views about Mike are out there, and if you were to be put in terms of a preferred bid status for the club, you can fully expect to see me sat in front of this padlock and this nice, very nice Yampe Vada shirt for half an hour, giving Sheffield Wednesday fans the information that is very publicly available and out there that is really easy to find. I just find it very interesting that the

8:39slant of the discussion surrounding this particular bid has all been very one-sided for the last couple of days. It has all been eminently positive surrounding it. My question is, I suppose, back to the people who have shown lots of support for this. Where is the balance for this? Because there's a figure that's been wafted around in terms of this 100 million pound figure, which has been, you know, it came from somewhere, but I haven't heard an official quote from Mike Ashley. The last time that Mike Ashley mentioned facts and figures was in the SPN article in 2019 where he said, I do not have liquid cash, nobody is going to just receive a 150 million. That was talking about its time at Newcastle United. My personal belief is I would like some balance to the argument as a Sheffield Wednesday fan from people who are in the positions to ask questions. Yeah, I get the impression that Mike Ashley is PR team doing a lot of legwork behind the scenes, because nothing's kind of front and center. He's not come out and said anything publicly or

9:43and there's no press release as far as I'm aware, I could be wrong, but not nothing that I've certainly seen, but there's a lot of talking to certain people. It's like he's got people talking to that, whether that's journalists or whoever that may be, friends, family, whatever, to try and get this kind of off the ground, because we're hearing a lot in our talk sport, we're always quick off the mark with certain things that he never has or haven't said or and stuff like that. David Storch has as well, but he's come out with, he must have got Rob stating's number or something, because he's spoke to him twice, isn't he? Rob's kind of had an exclusive on two occasions, both on Christmas Eve and then on the eve of the board baited falling through as well. There was statements there, first one outlining kind of very loosely what they would do if they were to buy the club and then the other one showing support for James Board and then lo and behold, that doesn't happen. They're not silent,

10:50I suppose they could come out with this sort of stuff, but yeah, I say it's just an observation that I've had and I said it does seem very one side, I said we'll get onto the, I've put a poll out as well, which did surprise me to be fair, is the results of it in terms of what what people actually think is going to happen later on. No, I agree, James, I just think it's again, the landscape of the argument surrounding this is shifted for, let's call it what it is, a failed bidder in the first process and likely to come up short in the second process and unlikely to meet the threshold where we don't have to go to the EFL for a minus 30 point deduction based off some quotes that are clearly from, again, I know the original quotes are from Alan Biggs, Alan is clearly attached very closely and my personal belief is I actually have a lot of respect for Alan because he has nailed his colours firmly to that mast right from the start and hasn't changed his opinion, so I actually have a lot of time for him as an individual sticking

11:52by his gun surrounding that, but what I haven't seen from any of the individuals that we mentioned previously, anyone be able to actually explain some of the logic and thinking and rationale behind the reasoning for the stuff at the previous examples at previous clubs, but again, we're not there, if there was ever a point where we got to that point where actually me and you are sat on another fucking emergency pod. I think there's going to be two more, Matt, there could be two more, there's going to be preferred bidder and then take over and then I hope he's not another one until, I don't know, manager gets sacked or something like that, hopefully that's kind of way way into the future. But I think if there is at that point then there is certainly a discussion that needs to be had surrounding the past evidence that we do have surrounding this because again, I've mentioned a lot of people in the discussion talking about him, you know, buying it and selling it for a profit and I know we're going to come on to talk about the take over in greater detail kind of later on. So I'll save all of that for later. No problem. So right, let's get into the game then,

12:56starting line up, Charles Ottie Bayer-Opparmut, I offer Adiromola, Sean Fizzia, Heskey, Ingleson, McNeil Gates and Jamal Lowe. So it was two changes from the side that lost the Southampton last week. Charles coming in between the sticks and Heskey as well. So the end has gone back to Bura and Nathaniel Shalabar has gone back to the treatment table where he has spent most of his time, although I think it rested, I think it's the official line up in a second. But first of all, great to see PS Charles back in the start and 11. I mean, my worry when we's kind of hearing that he's going to be starting this weekend was kind of, oh, are we going to rush him back a little bit too soon? Luckily, the only thing that he really had to do was, other than Klaimefru Crosses, was pick the ball out of the back of the net twice. And Neva Gold was back to the halfway line, didn't it? Yeah, and Neva Gold was at his front post, now, which was nice to see, wasn't it?

13:58Yeah, I mean, he could do absolutely square sum of zilch about Ivy Gold, due to errors that were made in front of him, and I know obviously we're going to get onto that. For my money, having seen him sporadically this season, because it has been sporadic, and obviously he made his league debut. What was it against Bura on the, no, sorry, not Bura Cardiff away last year, which was almost a year to kind of work, what, 11 months or so away from it. I personally feel from what I've seen of him in those, what, 20-odd start? Has he got 20 starts yet for Wednesday in the league? I think he has just, yeah, he must staff at the moment. It feels like he's been around forever, don't it, really? Yeah, he does. When you mentioned that, I'm just going to have a quick look now and carry on. Yeah, I was just going to say, for my money in terms of what we've seen, I think he is the most well-attributed goalkeeper, so like he's got the best attributes to his all-round game,

14:58since probably Pete, Keir and Westwood 2016, 17 type of time. It's whether or not I suppose moving forward, he's actually able to knit that together and have a consistent run of fitness. Because if you can put all of that together, he's going to be a hell of a goalkeeper. 18. Oh, there we go. So you're right, he hasn't got 20 yet. 10, 10 this season, eight last season. So, yeah, obviously he started two games at the start. If it lester and stoke, then he obviously picked up that injury. It was bolterway picked up the injury, weren't he? He kind of put some reason, then played against stoke and probably shouldn't have. Then he was in for what, six, seven games, and then I was picked up the injury again, Brent for Denny as well. So, yeah, very, very unlucky, but yeah, lester, glad to see him back and I was just hoping that he wasn't going to, it was going to flare up and we are going to rush him back somewhat, because as we all know, this season is, he's a total write-off. In terms of shallow bar, he obviously got through the

15:5845 minutes the other day. Yeah, probably so that it was 28 minutes against Derby at home, and 30 minutes against Watford. That was back in December. Before that, it was the opening day of the season, obviously, where I remember watching that. It was me, me, me, me, sisters wedding. I remember watching it, having the food. I've got the, got my phone and watching the game, shallow bar scores. I'm like, oh my god, we, what a baller. Like, this is the, he's going to be the one this season and then they allow him to be able to, he picks up that. I got too carried away, picked, got the injury and things. I mean, I think Henrik's command said that he felt something, or something like that on Friday. That could be tiredness from actually playing a game of football and a thing, you'll, but I don't, you've not felt that for a while. I wish I could feel something about this season. I'll be honest with you. I felt a lot of things. He's just not been anything even remotely positive. Yeah, it felt something uncomfortable after training on Friday. So, Henrik giving the weekend off with a view to playing against both

17:01Watford or Ipswich. Obviously, Watford on Tuesday, Ipswich on Saturday, both at home as well, but yeah, what's, yeah, just emitted from the, from the squad after playing one game. I think, James, I mentioned it when we signed him. I think you can go back and check the tape to kind of when we signed him and when we recorded the podcast. And this is obviously based around where I live and knowing a lot of West Bromwich Albion fans. They had said, if you want a player who comes on to control the ball with 15 minutes left, because you are one nil up, he can do that and he's brilliant for it. Just keeps the ball ticking over, going sideways left, sideways left, sideways left. And then ultimately, you end up winning the game one nil and the opposition don't touch it. Sadly, his body simply won't allow him to play football. I think that's the way that as well. I think James, there will be another club who offers him a deal in the summer, but it wouldn't surprise me if there isn't at the level that he is currently at, or if he doesn't

18:01have to go abroad to continue and further his career, because we now have what last season, this season, his time at West Bromwich Albion. Technically, I think he still has lots to offer. He's a really gifted footballer, but your best abilities, your availability, and sadly for what, knocking on four seasons now, he just isn't capable of doing more than 15, 20 minutes in a game, and that must be really difficult to come to terms with as a professional footballer. Yeah, exactly. You're right. I remember it was at Borough away, came on at a half time and absolutely ran the show. That was one way we got back to three, three, I want to say, if you three nil down at half time, get it back to three, three, and he were dictating play. Again, there's been glimpses where you think there's an absolute baller in there, but you're right. When you when you're missing for 12, 13, 14 games, or however long it is due to injury, you come back and then you're missing again, it just as a fan you just get to the point where you're thinking,

19:02you might be good player, but you're paying if you're sitting on the injury table and obviously happened all last season, it's happened all of this season as well. So yeah, it's just a crying shame. Into the game then, obviously it finished Derby County 2, Sheffield Wednesday 1. For me, I thought the performance was much, much better. I said it during the game, during the watch along. I said it straight after that making me instant match reaction. Just felt a better performance, felt a more rounded performance. I think there was a lot more pressing, more urgency, just from the whole side, really, the look more, or at defensively, we did looks shaky, but I mean, look, we've been like that all season. We know where where the problems lie, from defensively, it's just lack of skill level and that's just been totally honest. But yeah, lacking both ends of the pitch when it comes to that sort of stuff, but I just thought

20:04there was more urgency. We were winning the ball a lot higher up. We were forcing Derby into making mistakes. I thought both Gerry Gates and Jamal Lo just buzzing around constantly and Derby didn't like it. I mean, they don't like having possession either. I thought the fact that we just let them have the ball kind of played into our hands, really. And yeah, I just thought, overall, just a much, much better performance and I know the bars not being set very high, but again, like I said at the top, we've lost by one goal, but it was just, there were positive signs, which is good. Ten games to go to the end of the season. I've seen signs, what signs, encouraging signs. Yeah. No, I would agree. I thought the Derby, Derby's game plan was pretty obvious. It was to sit off us, wait for us to make a mistake and then give it a quick lad up top. It was very John Yuster's ball. And again, no criticism. If it works, don't knock it. The thing is the Derby fan told me that. Like I said, that's exactly what they're going to do.

21:06We play a counter attack in football and they'll be old the first goal. Oh, yeah, counter attack. Exactly. I thought the surprising thing was when we actually had the ball, we did work it into areas of concern for Derby. We pressed, as you mentioned, higher up the park. I thought Jamal Low, Jerry Yates, Charlie McNeil, all deserve credit for that. I thought it's Van Tengelsen was good in terms of that. And I think the, I know some people were fairly critical of Jaden Heskey's performance because from a ball playing position, it seemed to pass him by, but I actually think the fact that he was solid in his position allowed Svan Tate to go and kind of like roam around. We are just, we're lacking that confidence, that guile, that attacking structure to really concern sides, but like you said, it was better. And this is one of those results that we've lost a lot of games by one goal this year. This is one that won't be remembered for that, but actually at the time talking about it, we can look back and go, that we only deserve to lose by one. I think as well as a pre-game,

22:08the opposition, certainly the fans obviously, you see the predictions, it's going to be a four, five, no. I mean, I even said three, one, to the Arbe. I just can't, the games that we've come up against, I just can't see as not conceding at least a couple of goals at every single game. And when, when they're like saying it's five to be six, let's get this goal different, soap and all stuff like that. I take great satisfaction in them finding it a lot, a lot harder. And general what, the Patreon members know, but I do like, I go on to the forums or the message boards of the opposition, kind of like in the evening after the game, and I pick out various quotes, mainly when they start messaging, referencing Sheffield Wednesday and stuff. And I pick them out and put them in a thread. And a amount of times that I've seen, fans of the opposition saying, we'll set the win. And we move on. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But the performance we shy, it's a win, it's three points, we move on to the next game,

23:08insert whatever the next, the next feature is. Honestly, so many clubs have said exactly the same, you know, I had said it. That's what they were saying. Like, that's it. Performance weren't great, went down to ten men, but we've, we've got the win, you know, again, same with, with Derby fans yesterday saying, also saying that their fans were really quiet as well. But yeah, but yeah, that is, I suppose we have, it's not a good, it's not, it's not a point, it's not a win. But the fact that we are actually making it a lot more difficult than what the opposition are going to actually feel, you know, the fans think they're going to be, we're just going to be a role over. You just look at the league table and you naturally expect that, but they're not generally like that, are they really? No, but I could, I'll be honest with you, James, I will also caveat that with, I could do without every single week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, fans giving it big licks, it gets to Friday and they all go, this is going to be no pushover, or they'll be right up for it. And I'm thinking, I've just shut the fuck up and take three points,

24:11man. Like we get it, like the one that you see, Matt, is where they say, um, uh, up steps in certain areas. So up steps, what food or up steps, it's what you know, the, the, the post is just the screenshot from, you know, flash goes or so for score, whatever it is. It's obviously LLLLLLLLLLLLLL for, for, for every day. And then they're like, yeah, oh, a wonder who's your Wednesday playing next. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, just turn it in, boys, like we are crap, like we understand that, the players understand that, the manager understands that they're trying the radics, but you are going to walk away three points, just move on. Yeah, exactly. Um, I mean, I think just like the fact that we came back into the game, Matt, it's something that we've not seen at all. It went 1-0 and I'm just like, ah, that's it, game over. So the fact that we actually clawed a goal back and got back onto level terms, we have to set that as a positive shoulder. I agree. I think if you roll the tape back a few weeks ago to Swansea, when we can see you did after starting well in a game, manager players,

25:17everyone changed and we got absolute slapped. Um, I suppose there's, there's two factors with it. I think the weight of mathematical relegation coming off players and managers, I know we all knew we were relegated. I know the manager and the players have come out and said that, you know, post it's been confirmed. I think that's one factor of it. I think the second factor of it is, um, fan bases at away games and there is just no break anymore. It doesn't really matter what goes on on the pitch, which was very, very similar to what we, you know, like for anybody who is in attendance at Leicester at the opening day of the season, which was exactly the same. Leicester scored and it's just constant. Like there's no stop. Yesterday, exactly the same. Derby score. Everybody carries on singing. Nobody really cares. Whereas there has been a period of the season where that has died off. The away support has and will always be, in my opinion, the biggest thing to be able to hold this football club up with our away support away from home is unbelievable.

26:18Like it is outstanding. I think it's unmatched in for my money realistically, the EFL. I think only Sunderland when they were down here were very close in terms of like not only just numbers, but also vocal support as well. But I think those two combinations, the mathematical relegation and the fan backing, I do think actually just allowed players to just play with that. Oh, fuck it. It doesn't matter. Like just get on with it. Like we might as well just get on with it and just carry on. And yeah, I agree with you. It was better. We stuck to the game plan. We didn't let heads drop or go. The other thing is we've seen the attacking trio for a couple of weeks now. Be fairly settled. And we've also seen the midfield double of Svante Inglesen and Jaden Heskey play together. That stability is going to positively impact us. It's just a shame that the bat line consistently changes as has the goalkeeper. And that's where the errors are. Yeah, let's talk about the away fans then because I think we spoke about last week, obviously at home, this time it's a way, but I do feel like we need to mention again because absolutely class, you know, the clips

27:21of I think Derby score, you can hear the PA announcing the goal scorer and the cameras fixed on the away end. And we're just all the fans are just singing, you know, I think the rendition of I love you Wednesday. And like these are some Derby fans in front. And if you didn't know what had actually happened, you'd probably think that we scored, you know, in that situation and that is that kind of gallows humor and things. But you know, some even some some fans that were there in that way and come away saying one of the best away days that you've had in a in a very long time. I mean, okay, Derby's not too far away. One of the closest ones, but that's that's not the point. It's we've gone one win or season 12 consecutive defeats up until that point 30 games with that or 29 games without winning before that game. 22 goals or season, only 13 have come on the travels. Fans spending best part of what, 70, 100 quid by the time you're factoring, ticket,

28:23travel, a few beers, a bit of food. Yeah, exactly. To watch a side who you're pretty much no, we're going to lose before you've even kicked a ball. So it's such sort of rival, isn't it, really? It is. Just when you were rattling all of that off, I obviously think you want the fuck am I going to hold? Well, I'm going to stoke, I'm going to walk, sort of. It's not there. I was just thinking, well, you're rattling all that off James, go, what the fuck am I doing? But people have come away saying it's that like yesterday was genuinely one of the better away days. I've seen again, if you didn't know what the result was, you know, you think when they were fans, you know, boozing after in Derby, like in a particular pub or whatever it was, singing Jerry Yeats song, honestly, you would have thought we just got beat to one. I said 13, 13 consecutive defeats and we're still singing and dancing as if we've, you know, won the head vehicle. But again, James, and again, without wanting to get too philosophical on all of

29:24this, it's been the thing that sustained this club for the last 10 years, regardless of what anybody wants to say, it'll be the thing that sustains the football club, regardless of through a new ownership. We are the unique selling point about this football club. We always will be because of how crap it's been for 30 years. Now that isn't because, you know, I know you've posted it in the chat, we aren't just capital M capital A massive. But there aren't, there is no club within the EFL left that would have had as shit a season as we have had and would between now and the end of this season still be selling out grounds away from home up and down the country. They just wouldn't, like I will fight anybody on that in the EFL, like they just wouldn't, they just wouldn't do it. Water will be wet and if your Wednesday fans will still be very, very, very vocal away from home. Yeah, and you say water's wet. We've got, we've got coming up, we've got a whole stoke,

30:25Coventre, Middlesbrough and Oxford. I would forgive Middlesbrough with it being an evening game, but certainly whole stoke, Covent, and the final away game of the season against Oxford. Yeah, I think they'll probably sell out those on the map. Yeah, I don't, there's going to be any struggle. And also when you were rattling off that list, James, and we were going through them, I was thinking aside from stoke, every single one of them has got shit to play for. So there's a high likelihood that they are going to be far more motivated than the side that they are playing because they are all still either fighting for their survival or fighting for promotion. Yeah, should be fun. As it always is. Let's talk about, obviously we've done a bit of positives. One negative, or certainly that a lot of people was complaining about yesterday, was some substitution, Henry's substitutions that he made in the second half. Now, let's be honest, it's probably been one of, if not the biggest criticism thrown at Henry

31:27this season. Certainly, it comes up pretty much everything. It's like a running joke, and it ends his subs going to be, like I said, usually about the timing, but on this case, it's as much the time, but also to do with kind of the personnel who we brought off and then brought on. It left until the 74th minute to make his first change, whilst we were still, you know, we were two, one down, Joel and Dala came on to replace Charlie McNeil. I don't see a problem with that one. I think the one that people are getting the nickers in a twist about is on 82, when we bring on a central midfield, or a defensive midfield, for Jerry Yeats, the goal scorer, and a strike. I mean, what's your particular thoughts on that one? Because he then did throw a caution to the wind, but I do use that term very loosely because he brought on E.Q. Bo for Sean Fizzier. But, yeah, what's your thoughts on taking Yeats off and bringing on Thornton with eight minutes to go when you're two, one down? Just before I go on to that one, James,

32:30I'll go on to the first one. Aside from taking your top scorer off, yeah, I see your point in terms of changing Joel and Dala for Charlie McNeil. Yeah, take your top scorer off, who's playing out a position but smart. Anyway, without wanting to go all, he's got to go. This is why for me, Henrik Pederson is not a manager. We're making changes to shape with eight minutes to go. We're relegated. You have two strikers on the bench. Okay, one of those played the day before in Will Granger in an under 21's match. You want to bring on a defensive midfielder for an attacker. Do that first. Do that first when you can change the shape in the game and then bring Joel and Dala on to play on the counter over the top when you've exhausted everything that Charlie McNeil has possibly got to give or Jerry Eights or whoever. It's nothing against Jarvis Thornton in any way, shape or form. It's just a mental decision. And I'm not going to change my tune on the tactical approach all season and the and the substitutions approaches all season. He's a nice man. I'm very grateful. He's not the long-term solution as a manager to the football club.

33:32This is just a microcosm of one of the things that I think is an issue because yesterday, we spoke about the overall approach was better. We did press higher from the front. We did actually go for that. But I would also say that there is, yes, there's an element that's gone on to the coaching staff and the manager and they need to be given the credit for that. There also needs to be credit given to the players for having the confidence to still do that after conceding yet another goal inside the first 20 minutes. They don't let it change their tune. They're just carry on going. Yeah, it was it was a baffling decision just on E.K. Yugbo because I know you've mentioned him. I know it's since been deleted. The post that he or his team made to Instagram inside the hour of him finishing and the sides to one loss at Derby is everything that is wrong with E.K. Yugbo at Sheffield Wednesday. Bear in mind, this is a player who I have massively defended and I've got loads of shit for defending him. And rightly so, he is an

34:34Instagram baller who is lost in the lifestyle of being a footballer but not actually interested in being one, which is a real shame because he's a talented goal scorer when he's head's in the game. Yeah, he's lost to me now. He's dead to me. He's not going to future Sheffield Wednesday. My point is James, he's under contract for two years. I mean this very nicely James, who's going to buy you? If you are sat in his position, who's going to buy you because if they go to the football club for a reference, they're going to say potentially, and this is relatively alleged, refused to train, refused to play, said your head's not in the right place, given all of these little caveats, given all of the caveats under the sun, come on, run around, don't do anything, then run straight to Instagram to post lifestyle content after the game. When it clips of him scoring for Troy's as well or something like that, was that what he did?

35:36No, there was a clip of him playing and scoring for Troy's in there. There was a clip of him on a boat in there. There was a clip of him smoking a cigar in there. There was a clip of him in a Balenciaga jacket in there. It was a lifestyle content post, which again, in isolation I have no problem with. It's posted less than an hour after your side has just lost two, one now. It may not be him, it may well be his team, but that is exactly why Sheffield Wednesday fans are getting onto your back, because it appears that you are more interested in the lifestyle of being a footballer, streaming his little uggsievert on Twitch or whatever the fuck is, than actually playing football for Sheffield Wednesday, which is bonkers to me. Yeah, Jess said, Matt, you say he isn't the long-term solution, but Bannon Hurston, others mentioned the other Sunday night, give him a side and see Henry put medicine, produce a side. He is the one to take us forward. I have a lot of respect for

36:37both of those gentlemen's opinion, kindly respectfully disagree from what I've seen from a season. I think for me, a lot of people say, or give him a chance next season, I think you can add sentimentality as to just go out of the window, I think in some cases it gets you in problems in football when you do that. Sheffield Wednesday sentimentally, in the last 10 years, fuck off. It does really does, and also there's got to be something to be said about losing as many games as we have done over the course of the season. So I've got 10 games left, this 13 consecutive defeats could even be a lot longer. This certainly can be more defeats in there. How do you then get yourself back up, forget everything that's happened, and then get yourself back up for a new season? I know you have to do that anywhere, but it's like ingrained into it. For example, me getting excited that we've lost 2-1. I've got to

37:40totally forget that and go back to being utterly pissed off that we've not won again in the football next season. That's to be a mentality change. Again, James, it's nothing personal about him. He's done something that others wouldn't do in terms of the mark and the character of the person. I have got a lot of time for him as an individual and all the rest of it. We all know the reasons of how he ended up here and why he ended up here. You need a culture building. I've spoken about it before. Henry has a history of working in global talent scouting for the Red Bull group. He was leader of that, what he was a leader of that at one point. If that isn't good enough on your CV to work in a football structure set up, but, chef, you're Wednesday, I don't know what is. What, 30 without a win, is it 30 without a win this season? That simply can't go into next season. There's no way. If you go six games into next season and you've won

38:43one and lost five or whatever, guess what? Everybody will want it out and then what you've just been off a preseason, you've been off a signings of players, you've done all of that for this manager and then six games in you got rid of him. This season is totally different. We are trying to pick players up off the ground and keep them going week in week out because we know the situation, we know we're going to get relegated and all that sort of stuff. I think it's a totally different mentality that you need. I'm going into a season where we have to stay up. I know that's mental talking about it, but that job number one next season is make sure that we are still in league one. That could happen really quickly. That could be a bit nerve wrecking, could get really close to the bone, especially if we do get a minus 15 point deduction. I don't want them to just, he said that they were annoyed, but I don't know if you really, he kind of circled back and he stopped himself from saying that he was happy. He used the word

39:44and he had to then stop himself and then say something else when he was talking about how the disappointing and stuff in the trading ground, in the dressing room, sorry. But yeah, I mean, just going back onto the substitutions thing, I just think if I put my, I mean, I'm not a manager, but if I was a manager, yeah, at the time when I'm watching the game, you've, you've, you've experienced scored, Jamal Lo is having probably worried about games that he's had for all season. You've got, you know, you want this one goal in it where we're creating half chances or getting into certain areas that when you do look at the bench and it's going to get weaker. I mean, all right, Jolland dollar aside, you bring anyone off the bench and it is a bit of a lottery as to what's, as to what's going to happen. That's, we all kind of know that. I think he's just a point, point of, you've just got to kind of keep going as long as you possibly can with what you've got.

40:46Ultimately, we've, we've, I've said it many times, we're missing in so many areas. We are, we haven't got a bench to help the squad out whatsoever. So we're just hoping and praying that something happens every single time. And I think as well, I mean, Geri is just absolutely bollocks. And then it was going to bring on like, he could go out scored, he can't, you know, can't count us as we're banjo. And you've got Will Granger, you've, you mentioned that sort of forgot they've played the day before. Or even if you hadn't have played the day before, totally unproven. And yeah, I get people like, yeah, he needs minutes and he needs this time. The other like, in that, in that situation there, I mean, to refer actually against that, that defense that Darby had him out, he might have had a bit of joy because they were shy. But I agree James, I think just going back to the, going back to that fundamental point of like looking at it and thinking, how could you have changed it positively? And yes, I agree with you outside of Joel and Dolly, you go to arguably Joel and Dolly is including in this, you go to the bench and the song squad, the side significantly weakens. Okay, let's have a look at a change

41:49that could have been done from a positive perspective. Liam Palmer could have come off. And you could have gone to a straight and flat like back three, back four, whatever way you wanted to shape it, you could have gone to that. You could have gone to a flat back four, add Ramola left, Otaku Bayo, Dominika Yorfah, Shunfaseer right. Or you take Seer off who we ended up taking off anyway. You chuck and dollar on, you move Charlie McNeil central, you leave and dollar wide, you've got two up top, you've got Jamal Lo in a 10 or Charlie McNeil in a 10 and actually is much more progressive and attacking and you haven't significantly adjusted or altered the shape. Yes, you're conceding chances, but you conceding chances regardless, but you have got more options going forward in attacking areas. How many times in the last 20 minutes of that game yesterday? There was a period of time yesterday where we got into the wide left area, Tayo had a Ramola runs into the left area, so anti-engelsome runs around him, he gives it into Ingelsen, Ingelsen gives it back to him, he gives it back to Ingelsen, Ingelsen gives it back to him, he gives it to Jamal Lo, Jamal Lo, and we're thinking across the ball, one of you's got across the ball,

42:53but you look up and there's Jerry Eights studying there. Now if you put more forwards on, just by sheer volume of numbers that are up there, players will have to go into the box because where else are they going to go? Yeah, I think yesterday was probably a different game because we did actually put Darby under a bit of pressure, which we haven't done in many, many games, because he's also, and I said it yesterday, when it comes to having a go, which again, Almanza by, I did say at some point, we need to start doing that, that was quite a while ago now. But the, people say I'd rather lose 5-0 than lose 2-0. Let's start losing 5-0, and then see what we're saying. It all goes back to, and it's the same all the time, and I'm going to bring this comment up from Willow. He says it's every manager we've had, same conversation, same issues we're moat about, tactics are all wrong, substitutes are all wrong, starting wrong players, blah, blah, new gaffer in next season, the same conversation will arise,

43:58and it's always as well, the solution to the problem is always the player that's not playing. I know it's always, it's always the formation that we didn't play, we should have done this, we should have done that, and I think that's just a fundamental football fan problem that everyone has in it, really Matt. Now whilst I agree with the sentiments of that comment, James, I would also say that this is the opportunity for a hard reset where you set a football culture, and actually that culture has an opportunity for a full hard reset, what you can't do is carry over the mess of this season into that. No matter how good the coaching pedigree of the person is, I would argue the only ones who would have survived a level of 30 games without a win and what 14 lead game, 14 back-to-back defeats is someone like fucking Guardiola and even he would be under pressure. I think people would be able to kind of relate to this, if you've worked in any workplace and you've got a manager who kind of, I don't know, they might turn a blind eye if you tossing it off or something, and then all of a sudden this is a total sea change the next day, and then it's starting cracking the whip and you go, yeah right mate, I mean you think

45:00not a chance, whereas if they've left and the new manager came in, and from day-adult, they were like, this is how it's going to be, there's more of a reaction because you're thinking, oh wait a minute, this is a bit different here, so as all these similar situations, the way that we've been holding all of this season, you can't then just suddenly change next time around, all right, there'll be a lot of different players, we're going to come on to that later as it is to how many players we kind of need, but still, there will still be some people here that have been here this season, and I think you're right, just clear the decks and start and start again. If you can't push reset now and have a complete and utter reset of expectations, not only of the club, but an identity perspective behind the scenes, and also first team expectations, youth team expectations, right, and to under-fucking sevens, we are never going to be able to do so. If you can't do it now, there is never going to be a better opportunity because you are at the club's lowest eb off the field,

46:03this is the opportunity to instill it, free of charge and fans will give you time to do so. Yeah, so topia 2 has come home to Disney+, let's go, get ready for a new case, for the greatest partner of all time, new friends, and your last name, the snake, dream team, new habitats, utopia has a secret reptile population, you can watch the record breaking phenomenon at home, utopia 2 now available on Disney+, rated PG, right now you can get Disney+, for just 499 a month for three months with a special limit to time offer ends March 24th, after three months playing auto renews at 1299 a month terms apply, let's try to move on and talk about Geriates's strike partner, Jamal though, another 90 minutes complete for the 31-year-old, three goals already this season, he's had two and a half times as many minutes as he had last season, over double the amount of starts as well with 10 games to go, I mean I've criticised him quite a lot I think, he's fair to say over this past season, and even last season as well,

47:07kind of lack of effort, lack of application, just not looking asked at all, but honestly, yesterday I couldn't fault Jamal though, alright, yes he's touched letting him down a few times, yes he wasn't quite there with the final end products and things like that, but I just thought he worked tirelessly and I thought he was, well I gave him mad at the match yesterday, probably a bit, a little bit of an oversight, but I think it was more, because I was more shocked, he's probably the wrong word, but Jamal like when someone's been poor for so long, and I'm going to say that, to then all of a sudden he's putting in a shift in like he has done, he was like oh he surprised me, I didn't really expect it, but yeah fair play because I thought other than scoring a goal, he's got the assist for the goal as well, so like I said other than getting on the score sheet himself, it didn't do a great deal, I saw some people saying that saying the same things like

48:09he's been lazy and stuff, but I think that's just a hangover from, people would just say that without kind of watching the performance if you know what I mean, but if you actually watch it, yes they, personally I thought it was much much better. I agree, I think he was well rested, yesterday I think that was obvious, that week of no fixtures has massively helped. I thought it was the type of performance we would see more regularly from him this season, and that's not me trying to be super, super critical of him, because I do think actually in recent weeks his performances have improved from where we were around December type of time. He did also yesterday appear to play with a degree of confidence that just simply hasn't been there in terms of he looked quicker yesterday, he looked like he believed he had the beating of the centre-half, he looked like when he was driving, there was an opportunity I think it was in the second half where he picked up the ball in the wide left area, he nicked it around somebody and I thought he's never getting that, and he did, two yards ahead of the defender, then nicked it through

49:12somebody else's legs and then obviously ran out of options and I think the ball went out for a throw-in, but that is the type of driving run that we just simply, without putting too final point on it, haven't seen enough of this season, and I think yesterday again I agree with he James, it was certainly one of his better performances this season in the Sheffield Wednesday shirt. I just think if I'm going to slag him off, then you have to give him credit. Exactly, and I think that's, it's only fair in it to give him credit when he's actually, like I said, I thought he put a good shifting and Jess said, oh, I've got the assist while still appealing for a foul on Jerry Yates, yes, I saw that, he's hands up, he rims straight into the ref, then he like, oh shit, I've got the ball. He's the best version of a dummy that I've ever seen, because I know we'll come onto the goal, but it completely sells D on Zanderson. He's literally it's an arm equivalent of a step over. The law will be doing it next week, you just watch.

50:12Another player to talk about, and a player that you kind of highlighted to me later in the game was Teo Adderamola. I mean, you were impressed with, weren't you? I mean, what was it in his performance that it did in pressure? I think you got into advanced positions, got up and down the pitch really well when he's own individual battles, and I thought when he had control of the ball, were it not for a lack of options in the middle of the box? I would have liked to have seen him make some deliveries, but he did drive the team forward in large spells of the game. I thought the other thing that we saw the best of him yesterday was the overlapping runs around Jamal Lo to get into those areas. The problem was, as was pointed out, you know, a couple of times we've talked about it, he'd look up to cross the ball into the box and he's got Jerry Hates to wait. I think he's just too quick. He gets there about three seconds before anyone else does. Do you know what I mean? There was a moment on the far side when we're kicking, he's in the first half. It wins the ball like on the edge of our box kind of wide. I think they're playing looking for a foul, the referee

51:13doesn't give it. He's like kind of nicks the ball off him, and next minute, boom, afterburners on road runner. Me, me, Jones. He flies down the wing. And yeah, I think he just gets there just way before everyone else. And he's just like, he's got a stock positive. Yeah, he's got a stop and you think, oh, my word. And by the time he stops and looked up, there's a player then closing him down. I think in terms of his performances, since he's come in, I thought he had a difficult start away at Swansea. But he is growing into the level, because we have to remember that he was playing a step down. I know he was unloading at Coventry previously, but he didn't get much gain time. He's growing into the level as a player. And I think if the opportunity came up to sign him in the summer, he's 22 years old. He's the right age profile. He strikes me very much as somebody who could, I'm going back into yesterday, because you know, as Wednesday fans were living the past. He strikes me as a very jade and brown, Marvin Johnson, left wing back, getting into advanced

52:14positions and getting crosses into the box. He's the perfect person for us to go out and potentially look for a knockdown deal in the summer, because he nicest willing the world, he won't be making or playing for Palace anytime soon. But that is assuming that we, you know, in the summer, we lift the transfer ban and take over and all the rest of it. Yeah, Steve has said, kind of read your mind, I think. It would be the perfect profile of signing for League 1, if we could get him. Yeah, and then George has said, where is that guy we signed permanently recently? That's the Silcut Dubri, I think he's playing a team football, he's where he's playing. And you mentioned it, didn't you James, in terms of his interview, he's talking about next season. I think he is a player with a view to next season, he will be in and around the side. Yeah, thing is crossed. Let's talk about the goals then. We'll whisk through, because I know we're going to talk a little bit more about the take over stuff, and I know a lot of people have got opinions on all of that. But let's talk about the opening goal. I think it's their first chance that of the game that they

53:20have. I mean, on first viewing, it's absolutely horrific defending. Yeah. On second viewing, I want to give a bit more credit to Derby, but it's still horrific defending. When you watch it, again, the ball gets played into Brewster. I offer jumps out to him. Otter Bayo then thinks it's coming to, I think Ajimang, so he jumps out as well. Yeah. It doesn't, it's not going to Ajimang at all. It might have been going to Ajimang, we don't get to him, because it then goes through to Benbro and Diaz, who was now who was in between Gabe and Palmer. Now that he's stepped up, he's now in here because of space. Ajim runs through. Palmer's got his hand in the air, looking for offside, and I think he would have been offside if it hadn't been for Adam Mueller, playing him onside. Yeah, good proper strike has finished. He didn't even take a touch. His first touch is to just strike it. It kind of opens his body up. Pierce Charles is absolutely no chance. He gets done, I think, with his body shape and things. Yeah, good strike has finished from

54:24the edge of the box. One, Neil, and I think at that time, I was just praising the first 10 minutes saying we've just started pretty well, which obviously totally jinxed it. It's a really good second strike has run from Benbro and Diaz, and that does pain me, obviously, because it's played through from Riyan Brewster and it's another ex-Pigoo scored. But yeah, the defensive line is all over the fucking shop. He's not even a line. I mentioned to you that Liam Palmer's in Derby, Otter Bayo's in Nottingham, and actually, I think it was Dominic Ayorfer who's done the initial jump might as well still be on the bus in Sheffield, like the way in which they're all spread A's are able. But yeah, from a Derby perspective, it's a really good goal because they use Adjamand as a complete decoy. Again, you cannot, if a second striker is going to run in from the wing, cross two centre-half, bend their run to make sure that they're on side, and then finish first time is what it is. It's a good goal as well. The frustrating thing is we'd had a couple of

55:27half chances up until that point as well, and it just shows you that this has just been the theme throughout the season, really. We have a couple of opportunities, or when you look back, they're not even opportunities. It's just areas of possession in the opposition half where we just get excited. But it doesn't come to anything, and then they get the ball in our half, and then instantly it's panic stations, and it's a goal, like we get into a wide area and scuff across back to the edge of the six yards. Everyone goes, wow, it's water chance. That's a good deal, but can this season just be over and doing well? Mac Clam must have had such a sore foot after that yesterday, just from just whacking balls clear from the edge of the six yard area. Oh, I know. Let's move on to the equalizer then. Jerry Yees leveled it up just six minutes after we went behind. Is it a good goal, or is it awful defending and goalkeeping from Derby, or is this the case of a bit of both?

56:27It's 100% a bit of both, James. Let's start with the Stonewall penalty before he scores. James, I was going to have a black tick me. I didn't have the watch along. I was like, referee, it's so fun. I'm properly mental. Don't get me wrong. I know Mac Clam wins the ball, but he completely cleans out the player at exactly the same time. Yeah, it's a penalty. And the interesting thing, so I know we're going to come on to talk about the second goal in a minute. Also, I was actually a really big fan of the referee in performance yesterday because he let things go for both sides that were clearly and should have been pulled back. And he just went, no, fuck it. You like to have a fight, like I've got no problem. And it actually added to the spectacle of the game. So big positive there. I think if you are looking at it from a derby perspective, I've mentioned it before. What on earth the unsanderson is doing? I had a man. It's almost like because Jamal Lo is looking at the referee with his arms up, he thinks, well, there's no way he's going to cross it because actually when you go back to look at the ball in from Jamal Lo, it's a really telegraph drop of the shoulder and first time hit

57:32where the derby defensive like Travis, Matt Clark, where they're all off to. Again, I'll never know. Jeff, you're freezing when Jamal Lo has got the ball. And then you kind of froze it again when Jerry hates heads it. You probably say like, how does that happen? Where did he go to to get in that situation? But yeah, it's like it's like a choreographed dance performance. So they all kind of intertwine and miss each other. I think what actually happens is it must be Travis because I think Matt Clark probably thinks that's the way the Jerry hates kind of as he runs alongside him. And then, well, yeah, it's a joke. But Jerry hates, I'm obviously much of him, but he's great movement. And I was about to say Jerry hates to ingeriate things, but then I realized I don't sit and watch all these goals on the compilation. So he scored two. Let's calm down. And he flopped one of them as well. We should say we should really have had three, but but you know, let's be right. Like, we said he could. Well, is that player like in inside

58:36a six-yard box, putting, you know, putting goals in like that. And he's not been doing that this season. So if Jerry is that man, well, it's all to know, to know avail this season. But if he could be that person, then they're happy days. I mean, I just want to touch on some of the comments that Jerry made postmatch to radio, Sheffield. He said, wow, makes me speechless. Never seen fans like that. There's only a certain number of clubs that can get a following like that, especially in this position and bouncing for the full 90 minutes. He says he thrives under a fan base like that. He says, when it turns positive in a year, honestly, it'll be unbelievable. Matt, Jerry just gets it, doesn't he, really? Like, if he's, you know, when we talk about, kind of, like, Samedo and Engelsson at the moment, he's that type of player. Like, what Jerry Yeats in that kind of category, can't he? Like, just plays up to the fans and can be a, to be fair. But Derby fans don't like him. Luton fans don't like him. But you make comments like that and it

59:37just buys you a bit of time, doesn't it? It does buy you a bit of time. James, two goals will always help you, always help you cause as well. Yeah, I think again, this is going to come, this is going to sense so horrible. Jury's out for me on him as a striker. Well, my next question was going to be, would you have him next season that Jury's out is the honest answer to reasons one, because Luton paid two points, something million for him. They're going to want that, they're going to want a large portion of that feedback for him. They're not just going to let him walk for free. I don't think we're in a position definitely not currently, but I also don't think we're in a position to actually, sorry, we've got 100 million come in. Yeah, we can spawn whatever. I don't know is the honest answer, James. I would appreciate his work rate. I think he's an experience forward, definitely, and certainly at league one level, but there have also been performances since he's come in where he has worked tirelessly and very hard, but has been absolutely nowhere near scoring a goal. So I would, I'd need to see between now and the end

1:00:40of the season him. I'm not talking about him continue to score a goal every single fucking game, but actually continue to get himself into positions to actually take chances because he's had three in the last two games. He scored two of them. Fantastic. Absolutely brilliant, but I'm not getting my head of myself with him. Yeah, to counter that though, Matt, what I would say, he scored two goals in a utterly dog shit side. Yeah, yeah. I mean, so, so to, I think, yeah, for my money, that's kind of worth at least three or four goals. Yeah, yeah, yeah, scored them in a pool team. I think for me, we're going to need to sign a lot of players. If Jerry eights is one of them, would I be disappointed? Probably not. I think I'll be all right with that. I'm going to be building a team around him, probably not as well. But certainly, if he continues in this, yeah, like you said, it's not going to continue in form. If he had as a good final 10 games to the season, and we can sort it out, he's got two years left

1:01:43on his loot and deal as well, which is another kind of sticking point, but the fact that he's let them go out alone and buy all the camps we don't pay anything for him to come to Sheffield Wednesday, kind of says something. I mean, whether or not they're just putting him in the shot window. And if we're then wanting him, then they're like, well, yeah, you can, you can have him or someone else can have him for a fee to kind of reignite his career sunwalks. I don't think, yeah. How old is he, James? 29, I want to say. So if you're going to put him alongside George Bryan, Will Granger, and another very young, exciting, hot prospect forward, this is assuming we can sign players in the summer and pay fees for them. And we've got somebody who is in the position to be able to actually sign the Vogue in Jecks. Yeah, I've got no problem in having an experience strike it in the room who youngsters can learn off. And it's more to do with work rate determination attitude than necessarily their goal score in prowess. But I would be very reluctant to see that

1:02:45as like a marquee centre forward, because again, let's not forget there's a reason why he's unlearned to us from Luton. It's because he scored two goals in 20 odd games for them. Yeah, I think he's very much a confidence player, though, in a real life. Absolutely. I mean, two in two will give him that confidence. So you missed that sitid in here against, against Southampton where he should have been two in one. But to get another goal, he'll be going to the Watford game on Tuesday, hoping he's starting. Yes. Joanne looking to looking to get another goal. Let's talk about the goal that then eventually won it on, yeah, in what 45 minutes, I was in injury time. I can't remember now, but yeah, we think we're going in at the break all level. Absolutely sucker punch. It's right, it's second phase of a corner. Are we saying it's classes of set piece? Yeah, probably we'll say we're all still set up as if we are defending a set piece. It's parlors, man. Yeah, Matt Clarke looks to go to the back post and spins to create a yard or to a space.

1:03:46Palmer's a yard off him. A yard is kind. Well, yeah. And it's actually, I offer it that tries to get his head on the ball nowhere near it. It's good at it from from from Clarke six yards out. Yeah, as I said, Matt, just out through a sucker punch. We were talking about, you know, going in at a half time level and thinking, this is fear, this feels strange, I've done this for a couple of weeks. And then yeah, as it turns out, two, one, and that obviously ultimately ends up being the winning goal as well. Yeah, I think players from a Sheffield Wednesday perspective were complaining about the goal. I'm complaining for a handball when the third ball first comes in. Is that what they're saying? I think it's the initial contact on, I think it's Dominic I offer by Deon Sanderson, who sort of like Dominic I offer for my money, just they get into a tangle and he goes down. Now most games in the championship that you watch, it's given as a defensive free kick and everybody goes away. But that was not the way in which the game was being refereed in the first half in particular yesterday. So you've got to be stronger. You've got to get out quicker again to stop the delivery and the cross. We've

1:04:48been talking about this week on week on week. And yeah, um, where Liam Palmer is going. I don't know. Like, and again, I know there's a big milestone coming up for him. Potentially if he's selected against well, he will be selected against Watford. Um, he's five yards off, Matt Clark, when the ball goes in the back of the net. He just completely loses him. Join the conceded goal. I'd like when you watch it back, I'm just like thinking, please, please, not be in Palmer again. Oh, yeah. I mean, I'm just like, oh, just, not because I just don't, I hate seeing like all the, uh, the stuff that you then see on socials and about certain players and stuff like that. I'm just like, oh, it's just another, another mistake, I've got a big mistake, a small mistake or whatever. But yeah, just an absolute sucker punch when, uh, when that one went in and, uh, like I said, actually, on a positive, though, this is four second halves that were unbeaten in Matt. Yeah, I know. This is coming for that.

1:05:49Coming for that. Coming for that second bottom. Unbeaten in four seconds. Oh, first of all, okay, I'm going to say it later on and sing it. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, drink. This water's, uh, it's not even sparkling like yours. I said, I saw you got to get rid of your sparkling water. It's not even sparkling water. It's just a bottle. He was just a bottle that was sparkling water that I'd just filled up with, uh, cancelled pop. Well, I don't know if I'll, I'll let you off there makes a sparkling water. It is absolutely vital up there with pineapple on your pizza. I think actually sparkling water is the only drink that people that have pineapple on the pizza, pizza actually drink to be fair. So, um, it goes hand in hand. People are going to be so angry. All ten of them. Um, the, the, the eating. Right. Let's, uh, let's do the three-word match review and then we'll get on to some, uh, some takeover stuff. So three-word match review, let's, uh, let's get into it. We've got, uh, Ollinoff says, play to whistle, Roger fin

1:06:54magnificent away support Ben on a similar vein. That's a way and Darren proud of Wednesday ice. Um, actually, I think that Darren's got, but what 50 pence in the meter is about seven different three-word match reviews. So, new defense needed, new manager, please. He's a coach. Um, yeah, uh, that's how you feel. That's how you feel. Okay, come on. Get it off your chest. Tell me about it. Um, Max, Max Berger Briggs has gone with Jerry, Jerry Yeats, uh, Gnasty Max in there. Tom Seymold result, Nick says he's no longer interested, uh, Chris Gilbert gone with that away end, uh, and Josh Fletcher shock way lost, uh, his loads more in there that you can go and have a read at WTID pod is where you need to go for all of that one. Um, right. Takeover stuff. No. Now it could change rapidly, uh, and this could well be out of the day by the time that people listen to this if you're not listening to it live. But yeah,

1:07:58in terms of, uh, like a bit of a recap, Friday came and went. Friday was the day when we've reported to receive some bids from interested parties. As to how many we don't know at this stage, David Storch is said to be one of them, Mike Ashley, another Ryan Howe, Sumer, we spoke about the debate showing midweek. He apparently hasn't put a bit, put a bid in called his interest. Charlie Methan was interested, but he's unknown as to every, he's lodged a bid or not. Uh, and we now have what the star are calling a Mr. Repeater, uh, who's entered the fray later on and said that they're interested in, uh, in buying Sheffield Wednesdays. So by my reckoning, that's too pretty much nailed on. And then, uh, you know, we've, we've got, like I said, one, uh, one mystery person. I'm sure I saw somewhere that there was, that there was four, um, but it sounds like it could be four, it could be, it could be three. Um, I asked on Twitter, Matt, I said,

1:09:02who's the mystery bidder, wrong answers only. And, um, they didn't disappoint, Matt. Yes, is all I've got for these, um, all these gone with Theresa May, uh, Nick says it's begbitch trainer that the mystery bidder. Oh, no, that would be, that would be up there with its Rebecca Vardy. Hopefully this would be up. Yeah. Um, this one you'll, you'll, you'll realize this one. James has gone with Brian Clancy Potter, Kenny Senior is CEO, Raven as the entertainment manager as well. I'm fucking on board with that. Eddie's gone with Walter White, Danny said Jason Statham, if Rexham can have a good actor, uh, then so should, uh, should we, um, Adam says James board, we've got the Walton's Doris, the tea lady, the goonies, uh, Gavin from Otterglass, um, oh, yes. Otterglass repair. Otterglass repair. Went some team sponsor by Otterglass. Chelsea. Oh, yes, but yes, how can I forget that? Don't I know that? Straight off the bat as well.

1:10:02That has come from deep recess. There was no hesitation. It was like it was, you was actually thinking about it when, uh, when I said it. And just, just for context as well, that was not planned either. That's wild. Uh, Gavin says two words, Dem Perre. Uh, Chris, Chris says, Matt Johnson and James mapping. Uh, I can assure you. No, I will put that out now. No, and you do not want that. Yeah, Barry Chuckel, uh, Adam sure, uh, Chris stuff, Chris stuff Vilder. Um, that's quite fun. Uh, Sutton Sweep, uh, Chris was a big fan in the eight, eighties of the TV show. No, no, no, that one's going. Ronnie Pickering, Bonnie Blue, um, yeah, there's a, there's a few in there. So, uh, the, the wrong answer questions are always, uh, always peak, peak viewing. Anyway, let's get back to more serious stuff. I think, yeah, it's fair to say that both Storch and Mike Ashley might have kind of,

1:11:04both carrying out some level of due diligence to get to this point after being involved in the process for, for quite some time, which must surely help. Um, yeah, and obviously, the administrators don't really have a say to the in, uh, in, in who becomes the preferred bidder. But I mean, Matt, we've done the whole, who'd you want, who'd you not want to death? So I'll not do that again. But first game of the season's 159 days away from now, five months and six days, just share 23 weeks. Are you concerned at all that we're not going to have enough time to kind of get the new owner in, get everything in order, then get everything ready to be competitive for the new season because, you know, um, like that as well at the moment, we're, we're certainly not going to, not, not going to be, are you, are you concerned about that at all? I think it depends what people would like is the honest answer, James. Um, do people want a quick patch up and a fix or do they actually want to rip the weeds out and fix this fucking mess once and for all? Um, if that's, if the ripping

1:12:08everything out and fixing everything is the priority, you have to shelve the on pitch and you can be competitive quickly in league one with the correct appointments and a fairly minimal budget. We've seen that because that's what our previous owner did. Um, my honest answer is I think most fans and I'm going off socials here. Sorry, let me jump before I go back to that. By competitive, I mean, in individual games, I don't mean competing for leagues or playoffs or anything like that. I mean, being competitive in games and actually, you know, doing that thing called winning some football matches. My honest answer is I think most fans, but I can only go off what socials are and judging by kind of like what people have said, what journalists, explainers, honest list members, ashes, cricket stars are saying this week, they don't want the long term fix, they do want it, but not at the cost of getting promoted by the championship in a year or two. Um, you, we've spoken about this 100 million figure that's that's been floated around. You do not need an immediate 100 million

1:13:13cash injection for stability in league one. People have been banning that figure around on socials all this week. So let's go through a few. Sunderland, Ipswich, Arnebors, Bristol City, Bournemouth, Coventry, Leicester, Rexham, Derby, Brighton, Lincoln, Charlton, Millwall. I don't know how many have rattled off there. None of them had a hundred million quid immediately pumped into them. Some of them were on the brink of collapse like we are. Some of them are on the floor, post a previous owner, very similar to what we are. All of those clubs that I've mentioned built steadily and gradually, but admittedly, Stum were starting from a better footing in terms of off-field facilities and all the rest of it. We, you're not going to convince me that Lincoln who are currently top of league one, who will be trading places with Sheffield Wednesday in this off-season have ever seen a hundred million pound, let alone being given an immediate cash injection of even a fifth of that. What Sheffield Wednesday needs is someone to love and care for it, whilst also implementing a plan and gradual growth, you are reversing 30 years of neglect here,

1:14:19not a bad summer and just a mysterious hangover. The club is broken and out of all of the crap that I have seen this week. The best quote in this cesspit of shit of a week surrounding ownership has actually been from Exile Striker League Gregory, who said putting money in at the top without building from the bottom is like pouring water in a bucket full of holes, isn't it? It'll stay full if you keep pouring, but the second the taps are turned off, it'll all come flooding out. And if that isn't a metaphor for the last ten years and an immediate hundred million cash injection, I don't know what the fuck is. Protein is now at Starbucks and it's never tasted so good. You can add protein, cold foam to your favorite drink or try one of our new protein lattes or matcha. Try it today at Starbucks. Yeah, this is why I kind of got to be very careful because of the timing and because

1:15:21like when you look at any other administration process, this is Derby's the example. They still had a squad. So when the new owner come in, he still had some, he's had a base to work with. He didn't have to. We're effectively building a brand new team like next season. Nothing, I'm sure there's some things, but by and large, pretty much everything that the club needs to change moving, moving forward. Like in some way, shape or form, it's not, I don't think these other than the pitch and the, and the, the, the, the ground is burning and this team working wonders. But even then, I'm sure they could say, we've not got this, we've not got that. Yeah. This, this, and you have a job. I mean, we've got one fly mode. I think I could, it would be if we could have some. Yeah, an actual loan mower, like, you know, cutting it with scissors. Yeah, going to a great job. But you get, you get the point, like there's not much at the football club, if anything, that you would, that you wouldn't change if you've been given the opportunity to do so. But again, it comes, it does come to the time

1:16:24aspects. And I am just a little bit worried that with, like, next season, we're not going to, like, be able to get everything in order. If you're in the right time, I mean, we're going to talk about that more on extra time, kind of, like, what things we need, need to do and put them in the level of, I think that's what's too least really. One level of importance in terms of just how important they are that we need them. But then also in terms of a time element, like what needs to be done first, regardless of its importance, what, what actually, how much of a task does insert new owner have on his hands when it, when it comes to Sheffield Wednesday. So, get over to Peter. And if you want to listen to, listen to that one in about half an hour's time, or we'll be, we'll be talking live on that. But yeah, I'm just thinking about it. So, like, just going off some of the comments here. So, no, this is an eminently sensible training pitch first to reduce injuries. If we're looking at, let's say, Stoke or Bournemouth or Bristol City or

1:17:26any of those clubs that I've just mentioned there, they all build new training complexes. Those are two-year projects. You can go anywhere between Bournemouth, which is state-of-the-art 35 million pounds, new facility, training pitches, new like main building, like gym, everything, not a conservatory, like, and that is 35 million pound. That is a large portion and a chunk, but you're not actually going to receive the returns on that until a decade down the line because it's not going to be done in two years. And also bear in mind a new owner. I don't know about previous owners or I don't know anybody who's looking at this, has a site been found for that? Are you just going to build over the existing because then you're not going to have an actual training pitch, you're going to have to go and train somewhere else whilst all of that is going on. So, that is not something that can be fixed in the short term. The things that can be fixed in the short term are a real deep dive, re-visitation of every single person behind the scenes at Sheffield Wednesday. That can be done in a summer. That can be something that he's looked at in the summer and you can have a CEO, a director, a director of football, a head of global talent and scouting and recruitment.

1:18:32We saw when Danny Rill was here, he bought in fucking statsman beyond belief. You can do all of that in a summer. On the pitch, we are looking at recruiting what, 15 to 20 players this window, realistically, 15 to 20 players. That is one summer. That is one summer and that is a hell of a summer that you have had there. But that is as far as this can go this summer. It cannot go new ownership walks in the door right. We're going to have this, we're going to have this, we're going to have this. It won't, it just physically can't happen at that speed. That's my worry that we've got nine weeks until the end of the season. Then we've got three months of the off season, just putting into context as well. I think Jim's board, they were in a preferred bit of status around about eight to nine weeks. I know a lot of people said if it's actually, it'll probably happen quicker, but the FL haven't said that in command. That's just kind of all just kind of putting two into it together and hoping that it is for. Let's say nine weeks and the new owner

1:19:36does come in at the end of the season. Then he's got to put all them things right. He's got to have a decision on whether it's going to be the new Harry Pederson or a new manager as well. It's a lot of moving parts. You've got to build a brand new squad and then hope that it's good enough to then start the new season and actually, yeah, like you said, win games and and surviving in the chat in the league one for your first season, if you don't, I mean. So I think if you're looking at, let's say for arguments, let's take Mike Ashley because he's part of this because I don't know who, I know David Storch owns two other sporting franchises, but they're not UK football based and you would have to look at what is Colorado Rockies and hard at NFL team escapes me in terms of who he owns. Is it rat? Is it sort of the raptors as well? Raptors. But you could quite easily lift and cherry pick the managing directors of there and just place them in there as long as presumably for you to leave Colorado for the, you know, for Sheffield, you'd have to give him a

1:20:37bit of a bay rise. But any road is fucking fantastic there. Yeah. But if you were looking at Mike Ashley, Mike Ashley, I can tell you the two people who Mike Ashley is going to bring him. One is going to be Derek Lambias and the other one is going to be Lee Chandler. Why? Because he did it at Newcastle, he tried to do it at Rangers when he bought them in to be on the board there. I don't know about Coventry. These are longstanding people who he has associations with. One was a casino, one a one-manage and director of sports direct. Both of those will be in the door like and that solves a problem. It does solve a problem whether they're the right people, footballing people to think and actually move and move the club forward. Who knows? But again, it comes back to that thought process behind what do you actually want from this season? Because when you come back to that original question of is it going to be enough time? Mike, I suppose my question would always be back for what? Are we going to be able to put a competitive team out to start the season? Based off a transfer ban being lifted, you'd have to sort the EFL I can't tell you.

1:21:41And if the EFL do lift an embargo ban? Yeah, I would imagine by the end of the transfer window, we've got a competitive squad very similar to when the previous owner came in and we were building a squad while Carlos was in and we had forestierry coming through the door like three weeks after the season ban and etc. But you can build a competitive squad. Is it going to be a promotion chase and everything has to click into place and fall into place? But probably not. Are you going to be looking at a mid-table team that's based around you're going to be sort of this answerable? You're going to be signing players like Jerry Yates who aren't a long-term solution. They're for a now problem and to fix it. And then you're going to have to be cycling through them. Whilst you've done that in that first season and the team's more competitive on the pitch and your fans are off your back from a little bit of an ownership perspective. Why? Because me and you were doing stuff like talking about the football rather than talking about this shit, you can start to make moves off the pitch in terms of your CEO, your director of football, your head of global scouting, recruitment, whatever. You can do all of that in that first year. And if you do all of that over that first season

1:22:43and chef your Wednesday safe finish mid-table, league one, that's a hell of a season with a lot of transition but actually at the end of it the club will be in a fantastic position off field to actually start figuring out who the fuck we are. Who are we? I don't know what our brand of football is. I don't know what kind of style we're playing. I don't know what the intention is. That has to come out and we have to start reconnecting with that and for the first time in 30 years James, it would be really nice to actually be very, very proud of my football club. And for too many years I've not been and that's really, really depressing. I just want to go back to when you said about what it is that we want because I'm going to bring, well I'll mention the poll that I put out on, I want to say it was Thursday, I might have been Friday. I said if it's a two-horse race between David Storch and Mike Ashley, then it was your money on becoming the new owner of chef your Wednesday. Now I

1:23:44feel people pointed out, well it's more than two, I know these are the two names that we actually know. Pretty much 99.9% of put a bidding for the club. The results were just shy of 80% in favour of Mike Ashley. Now I just want to stress as well, I did ask, who's your money on becoming the new owner, not who do you want to be the owner of chef your Wednesday. I think the people who voted will argue, well that wasn't your question. So I just want to put that out there. But I think I was shocked that it was so much. I mean for context, 1800 people voted on that vote. So it's a fairly decent sample size. For me, I think it comes down to the fact that people probably love it. They think they know what they're going to be getting. I think they also think it's going to be fairly quick to go through as well, which I think that's probably a big one. Yeah.

1:24:46I think people are a little bit fed up now because it's not just the administration. No, it's the shit before in it. Yeah, like if you ask people, like this is not just being seen in October, like for most clubs when this happens, it is just fairly quick and then all of a sudden, bang the clubs in administration. For those that it's been going on for far, far too long under the previous ownership. And I think people just want, like anything you just want to get it over and done with and get the next man through the door. And let's just see what they've got. Let's see what it's going to be like and things. And it comes back to that. Again, these people didn't say that's what they wanted, but I would probably guess that the vast majority of them also do want my cash to be the new owner. And I think again, it just comes down to what they actually do want a quick fix. They see it as a, I don't want to say safe pairs. They must do like nobody's going to choose someone that's just going

1:25:48to ruin the football club. They must obviously. I don't know. And that's not because I'm thinking people want to see the football club ruined. I think I mentioned to you prior to recording that there's a gentleman who I speak to fairly regularly at football and he's very open and honest about the fact of the reason why he is supportive of my cash leaves because he wants to see his club back in the Premier League yesterday, not today. He's very open about the fact that he didn't really give a shit about the off-field stuff. I'm not a fan for that. And I think a lot of fans like that as well. If you've been brutally honest, not many people. I mean, those that listen to these sorts of podcasts may be because you've fully invested into everything when you want to consume all sorts of content when it comes to your football club. But I think that's only a small percentage of the actual full fan base that when you actually look at it. Most people just want to see the club win games and being the Premier League. That's like what the dream is for many of them. And they don't care about the training ground. They don't care about who the CEO is or the

1:26:51director of football or whoever it may be. They don't give a toss. They just want to see the best players at Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough and Wednesday up at the top, you know, the sharp end of the league. And like I said, back in the Premier League. And that's just a fact that most people don't really care that James. And I go back to I completely understand that. But I go back to Sunderland, Ipswich, our neighbours, Bristol City, Bournemouth, Coventry, Leicester, Rex and Derby Brighton, Lincoln, Shelter, Millwall, all have done it without resorting to this type of ship. You can do it without just you can do it just without going round in the cycle of we need an immediate cash injection now because again, isn't that what happened last time? That's someone put a lot of money into the football club and now actually wants it all back. I think the other thing that like when, so there wasn't again, I've highlighted an article like previously it was posted by Alan Biggs. And again, this isn't a slight at Alan because he has far more connected than me. He's got far more experience of being an actual journalist. That's

1:27:52his proper job. Mine is just to sit and talk shit as a fan on this. This isn't a proper job. The article that he signed posted and highlighted to that he was going back to was based surrounding three bullet points on Mike Ashley. And he would run it like a business. The football club doesn't need to be run like a business. I don't need to be treated like a customer as a fan. The football club needs to be run like a fucking football club. And it needs to be actually treated like the people who go to football actually have some value aside from money walking through the door. We aren't just like, you know, like, oh, well, they'll just bail me out because I've got the money and they, you know, they desperately need the money and they want the success. That's not how it should be. I think the other point I was just going to highlight, sorry James, I was just pulling it up, putting professionals in key positions to run the operations. He put a casino owner and the managing director of sports directing charge of running one of the biggest football clubs in this country. They're not people who know what the fuck they're doing. Stan's well clear and doesn't interfere. We've just had that for 10 years. Stan's clear doesn't interfere. No one can

1:28:53actually get a hold of him and no one can hear from him. And when you do hear from him, it's not what you want to hear. Crucially, set budgets for his operatives to work with. I agree with you. People don't like budgets. That's the reality of it. Like, Chef Gawenz, the fans do not like budgets. Then we do not. Newcastle fans did not like budgets. Less the fans don't like budgets. Rex and fans don't like budgets. Derby Bournemouth. Oh, all of those fans, we don't like budgets. Just because you are able to set them, because you are standing clear and you are appointing to football people. Congratulations. That is every successful owner, not just this one. I think one thing you have to say, though, for balance is not once they said £100 million is going to be spent on players, bringing players in, because if the £100 million, let's just use that figure again, he spent on things such as a new training ground and all the other stuff, putting all the other stuff right, then happy days, fair enough, because how many times are we sat on here and said that we want to be bringing players through light-paced channels,

1:29:56like Kaelin Cole, Kadamartre, moving them on and selling them on. I have said it until blue in the face about selling a player for £5010 million and then buying £405 new players with that money that you have got from that sale of that player and then hoping that one of them is going to be another £10, £15, £20 million. You just keep going again and again and again. You know, not just got one player in PS Charles, like we've got now, you'll have these players in every position. So when you have got a player, it might even be a young one, it might be a 25-26 year old player that you've got. It's absolutely tearing it up and when he gets inevitably sold in January or at the end of the season, guess what? You've got another player to take his place and you do that all across the pitch and then you become that sustainable model that every football fan is crying out for their football club to actually be. Whether or not they like it when it actually happens is another question, but you know, that's what people always kind of strive for,

1:30:59don't they? Yeah, I agree. Just again, if people are well entitled to their own opinion on Mike Ashley or on any ownership and to be perfectly honest, because I know a couple of people have put it in the chat surrounding who would you want, haven't heard of them, so I can't tell you. I can tell you who I definitely don't want, just based off information that he's publicly available that he's out there that anybody can go and find surrounding past experiences, but I can't tell you about the others because I haven't heard from them. I don't know what the plans are, I don't know what the actual reality of it would look like is. I think just wrapping this up, James, in terms of like the actual discussion surrounding, because I know I've been very, again, I'm trying not to be so like outspoken against it, but I think I can only speak what is honestly on my mind about the situation. To be crystal clear here, if any of those individuals came in and did a good job, they would also receive the praise, 100%, like they would 100% receive the praise. If Mike Ashley was made preferred bidder, he came in, built the infrastructure

1:32:03off the pitch, gave us an identity, put the right manager in place, hired the right people in the top areas, treated you with respect as a fan and actually saw the value in you, moved on without like, you know, when the time came to move on, it moved on with very minimal fuss and all the rest of it. Absolutely no qualms with it whatsoever. I would hold my hands up and say, yep, got absolutely everything wrong on him. Wish, you know, like went off what was going before happy to be wrong on him. I think just sitting here now with the possibility of him being known, you can only go off what is there beforehand. And what is there beforehand? To me, paints a very different picture to the one that has been painted on social media and coming out of ex-players, Ashley's cricket stars, maids over the past time. And I think, and I can only go back to the point that you made earlier, it's because people know the names of, they think they know of him rather than actually knowing all of the fundamentals behind it. Because if you ask a fan of Darby, Millwall, whatever, they don't know what went on here. They don't know what's gone on in the

1:33:06last 12 years, but you do know, don't you? Well, yeah, yeah. And also, I just want to finish off by saying, like, people were kind of coming round to the idea of having James Borders, the new owner, and as soon as it fell through, what a nobody was. You know, I mean, it's the same thing. People, I think people will look to the positives right now, because if it happens, they want to be seen to be positive about it. If it doesn't, then yeah, things change very, very quickly. Right, let's wrap things up. Massive thanks to everyone for joining us, really do appreciate it. As always, we're going to be jumping over to extra time. So head over to patreon.com forward to such WTRD pod where the takeover chat will continue, but we're going to be talking about kind of, what's the job list look like for the new owner? How long is that job list? And also, what priority does some of these jobs actually have one in from it from a time perspective? What needs to be done first? And also, what's the most important things that need to be done as well?

1:34:12It could be a long list this one now. They're just going to just going to warn you. Like I said, patreon.com forward slash WTRD pod is where you need to go for that one, but yeah, we'll see you all over there. Cheers. Two teams, one cup. The prime time stage is set for the TGL presented by SoFi finals, Los Angeles Golf Club versus Tigers Jupiter links. Keep up, it's playoffs.
