2:24This is a five-star review as it does help the show out a lot. Now, I got an absolutely loaded show coming at all you every day is on this Friday. I want to talk a little bit about the Women's Basketball team because they knocked off USC in the big tent tournament. You absolutely love to see that. We'll get to that at the end because there's been some interesting movement regarding Denzel Boston's draft stock that I want to talk about some of his best potential fits. I also want to talk about what's going to happen at quarterback in the 2027 class because there's a lot of moving pieces up in the air right now. We'll get to all that, but first, let's talk about junior day. I got to get comfortable here for this one because this is going to be an absolutely loaded weekend. There's going to be 30 plus prospects between the 2027, 2028 classes on campus. Obviously, we talked about some of the high-end five-star guys in the 28 class. They don't seem to be close to making commitments, but from everything I've heard behind the scenes, I've talked about some of that. 3:25them have already had Crystal Balls to Washington. Zane Rowe is one, the four-star eddressher from Denkin guy or high school in Texas, but he's got his commitment date set for March 13th. So we're not going to talk about him too much today because he's also not alone, where one guy who I want to talk about right off the top here is somebody we've talked about a lot on this show, and that is the three-star center Reese Russell. This is a guy that's been on Washington's campus, seven, eight, nine times, I don't know. I've lost count. He's been here a lot, and this is a guy that Washington has considered an integral part of what they want to do along the offensive line for a very, very long time. And he's somebody where I've heard from multiple sources that seems like you could get anywhere between three and five commitments coming out of this weekend and in the days and weeks to come. Well, if you don't hear five, six commitments this weekend, don't panic, first of all, but we're going to see a lot coming out of this weekend, and this is one of those times where I wanted to emphasize Reese Russell because there is so much that goes into this where

4:28Washington has done a very, very good job of building relationships with a lot of their top targets on the recruiting trail. You every day, there's no this. We talked about this on yesterday's show as well. But this is something I really wanted to dive into today because now that we're kind of seeing all of these top prospects were no matter how short or long Washington has seemed to be involved in their recruitments. This is a time where you're getting all these elite prospects on campus together. And Jetfish has done a very good job of this over his first couple of years of building these relationships and trying to get as many of these guys in the boat as early as possible to, you know, just continue building these relationships. Use peer recruiting, all of these other sorts of things that have done really well and obviously amounted in the highest rated class in UW of history in the 2026 cycle. And another thing we've talked about a lot here is you need to build on that. That cannot be a one time thing. And I know that Jetfish understands that. But following through on that is obviously a very, very different task, right? And as I look at it, I saw Aisa Williava as another guy who falls into that same boat

5:32as Reese Russell, where he's got some official visits set up. Reese says to one to Georgia in mid-April and one to Washington at the end of June. I saw him got his set up to Washington for early June. He's also got an Arizona State visit set up where he's down to those two programs and then Michigan as well. So I look at these guys and if you can find a way to get them in the boat this weekend, those are just really solid pieces to have as cornerstones for their respective positions, where Reese as a guy where in the middle of the offensive line, we know how long Washington has been on him. And with Lan and Hatchet set to graduate after the season, you need to have more of a contingency, et cetera, where Loan Coleman, Bruce, somebody that this coaching staff is certainly very high on, but he certainly can't be alone and you need to continue building depth to that position with Isola. This is a guy where he has been Taylor Mason, even with top priority, since the moment he was named Washington Safety Coach. So that's a guy that I look at and say, okay, with Alex McClell from moving on after the season.

6:33And Gavin Day would be a really fun pairing to watch as those two down safeties. So that's something I want to keep an eye on. And Gavin Day also has the frame and the athleticism and everything to play that post safety rule if you want them to, but it's just all about having safeties that can be that center piece of the defense when it comes to what Ryan Walters wants. And it's very clear that the Huskies want to get somebody like that in every single class just to keep building that depth and stacking town, which is so, so important. And we've seen it on the defensive line as well. What needs to happen in this class there with to be to know John Ioana being those two high-end four star guys that are on campus. I just wanted to run through some of those names with you really fast because at the end of the day, this all comes back to Jed Fish in a way that I think is very, very important because I think that Washington brought in some solid talent out of the transfer portal. But this wasn't a class that knocked anybody socks off in terms of, oh, they got the number one rated defensive tackle, the number one rated this or that or whatever. Oh, it's very clear they spent X amount of dollars on the portal, whatever.

7:36And Jed Fish has gotten up in front of the microphone multiple times since then we talked to him in January. We talked to him again in early February. And he continued to emphasize the same goal, the same mindset of I don't want to build my team through as he coins at free agency with the transfer portal. That's okay. That's fine. So I just wanted to give you a moment through free agency, which is always a really important thing. And you know, maybe you look at some of the names that he brought in, they were on the top of Washington's board when you think about Dishon Watts, Darren Conley. Those were guys, I mean, they'll currently being another one as well. Those were guys that Washington prioritize right away and said, we need help with these positions. We're going to go out and get this guy or that guy. We identified them as the top players on the board. And we went out and we got him and hey, for better or for worse, when it comes to ratings and some perceptions, it might not be the best thing. But that is where Washington is right now. This is the vision that Jed Fish has set for Washington since the moment he got here.

8:36And now he wants to keep that going through the high school ranks. He has emphasized building a controllable roster through the high school ranks on a year and a year out basis, recruiting at a high level, going out and getting these high-end defensive linemen at a Texas when we talk about Zane Rowe. Obviously, this is a really nice defensive line class on the West Coast as well. And going out and hopefully, you know, when you look at where this class is, getting a John Iawane, getting it to be to know to stay home from his backyard here at Odae High School here in Seattle. All of those things are really, really important to what Washington needs to do to continue to level up and continue to move forward in the big 10. And there are a lot of questions about this 2026 roster, right, where the talent is there, but a lot of it is young and inexperienced in some way, shape or form. However, not talk about this before, you ever dare to know this. This is where Jed Fish has put himself because this is where he wants to be. So you have to let, I don't want to say if you go, let him go out there and do this, but you have to go out there and realize that this is the position that Jed Fish wants

9:39to be in to bring in a top 10, top 15 class, every single year from the high school ranks, that some of these guys play early and then let the cream rise to the top, if you will, at all of these positions. And we've seen him emphasize that. We've heard that for three years now, as he heads into his third season, as Washington said, coach, and I don't want to say there's no more time to wait around, but this is one of those scenarios when you go out there and you look at how he, just what vision he has for this program, I should say. The more you look at these things, the more it's clear, okay, the roster that we are going to see on the field in 2026 is his vision where obviously you want to see it continue to improve, continue to gain experience, but this is the image that he wants to build this program in. And you have a whole bunch of high-end freshmen coming in that can contribute at whatever position of need you might have. Obviously this year it's going to be along the defensive line. It's going to be Cody Green at left tackle.

10:39It's going to be these three receivers from the high school ranks as well. Jordan Clay, Tres Davis and Mason James. I don't want to say for better or for worse because it, again, is the vision that he has. Now it's about continuing to emphasize that, continuing to build on that. Because if you do see this roster, take another step forward in the 2026 season, it's one of those things where, okay, now you have to keep doing that. You have to keep building. You have to keep improving. And clearly, that is going to come through the high school ranks. And now, again, it's about closing. It's about getting these guys to commit and getting these guys to eventually sign in December because the battle doesn't stop when they've committed. The battle stops in December on signing day, assuming they sign with Washington. So that's one of those things that you need to keep in mind as this moves forward. And that starts this weekend because if you're able to close on three or four of these guys, let's say three or all three or four, whatever whoever winds up announcing. Soonest, they are all blue chip prospects are all top of the board priorities for one reason or

11:41another. That's great. That's what you want. But that's still not enough. And you still need to find ways to move forward and continue building on that every single day. And every single year, that's what Washington needs to keep doing. And to see all of this talent in one place on Washington's campus is great. However, it's not enough because now you need to keep leveling the program up and continuing to improve the roster and improving that talent every single year. And that's going to be really interesting to watch at every single position. But one position right now where there's a whole lot of intrigue is at quarterback. 13:48All right, let's talk quarterback because this is a position that I've been very intrigued by for a while because for a long time in this class, it felt like quarterback was cut and dry. And Sam Nicaro is going to be the guy. And now things look a little bit more uncertain. So let's just go and order rankings here because the guy at the top is certainly the biggest long shot as of right now. And he's not going to be on campus this weekend from everything I've heard. And that's four star quarterback Peter Bork. The former Michigan commit who backed off that a couple of weeks ago. And now is considering a group that also includes Georgia, Florida, Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Washington. And this is a guy where out in Massachusetts, it always felt like a bit of a long shot. But when Washington did get involved, it was certainly an interesting note to have at the very least, right? And then of course he decommits and it would honestly be more concerning if Washington wasn't trying to get involved in his recruitment. And from some people I've talked to, and I'm pretty sure our good buddy Scott Ecklin also reported this over on dogman.com is it does sound like Washington is still pushing and

14:49trying to get him out for a visit. Maybe at some point during spring practice, something to keep an eye on there. But I don't necessarily think, and I've said this before, it is it pertains to his recruitment. I don't believe Washington is one of the favorites here, but it seems like they're going to try their best to hang around and hang around and hang around and see what happens. But one guy who I'm very intrigued by, and I think is certainly rocking it up Washington's board over the last couple of weeks and months, I would say, is Forstark quarterback Blake Roscop from Desert Edge High School down in Arizona. And now this is a name that you ever dare to know this. We've talked about him a lot on this show as well recently. And he is someone who at six foot five to 135 pounds absolutely has the prototypical size that you're looking for at the position. And while he doesn't necessarily have the rushing numbers to back it up like some of these other high end quarterbacks that we've seen, he's certainly a very impressive athlete when you go when you dig into his film. And that really stands out to me because as he continues to develop as both a runner and a passer,

15:51I think that's something that no matter where he winds up at the college level, that coach is going to want to find ways to get him more involved with his legs because of that frame because he does have that physicality that ability to take more hits than some other quarterbacks like a demon Williams where obviously the plan has been to bulk him up and bulk him up to make sure that he can absorb more contact with just how quick an athletic he is. You would be a crime to not utilize his legs. I know I don't need to explain any of this to you. But I say that as it regards to or as it pertains to like Ross cop because he is someone who will be on campus this weekend. And if he were Washington's number one priority right now at the quarterback position, it wouldn't necessarily shock me. And one of the biggest reasons that I say that is because of his ability to throw on the move. And that is something that is just absolutely critical in Jed Fish's offense. It's why they went out and got a guy who can certainly move outside of the pocket and it has shown some athleticism in his college tape in Elijah Brown.

16:53It's what we've seen from Dash Byerley, Derek Xamott, Justin Keenan McMillan, everyone else is going to be competing for that backup quarterback rule this year. And Blake, when you combine that size and that arm talent and that ability to throw on the run from multiple arm slots as well and place the ball with both touch and velocity to all three levels of the field. That is something that just any college coach would be coveting. And the fact that Washington has done a good job of getting into the race for services. Great. And on top of that, you've already got one of his teammates committed in four star wide receivers, Eric Sydney. So that's another angle that you're going to be able to push as this recruitment continues to just labor on into the summer where North Carolina looks like it's in a solid spot there. And a whole bunch of other schools have gotten into the mix. That's the one that it sounds like is the most prevalent to watch at this point in time, I would say. But again, as this continues on Blake Ross comp is somebody who getting him on campus this weekend is really big. And as this recruitment continues to play out,

17:57I'm curious to see where Washington is going to slot in because you've gotten official visit scheduled with Sione Kaho already. I'll talk about him in a minute. But he is somebody where I think if Washington had their pick of everybody right now outside of Peter Bork, that Blake Ross cop would be the guy that Washington would put all the chips in with and say, that's the guy that we're looking for. And somebody who isn't too far behind that right now and has certainly been in that that boat for a while is three star quarterback Katie Jones from Creole Lutheran High School down in Southern California. Now, this is somebody who got a crystal ball from rivals to choose Arizona. The other day, another school that was mentioned in his top seven, then he released not too long ago that obviously Washington was also involved in. And he's someone who alongside Ross cop is going to be on campus this weekend for junior day. And he's someone who's been up several times where I was really impressed with his junior film. And he bounced back really nicely from a knee injury that shortened his sophomore season. And he's another guy at six foot three and 185 pounds. He's a little bit more slender for the position right now. But he's

19:02really athletic. He is also tremendous at throwing on the move. And I think that's one thing where if you're somebody out there who is very interested in watching film and just looking for different traits that a quarterback might have that fit a jetfish off offense really well. Throwing on the move might be the number one thing that he's looking for right now because we saw Demon Williams have so much success with this in several different games last year is those bootlegs and some of those different plays where you're just getting him rolling out to either side, but obviously more so is right. And finding different ways to just make defenders make a tough choice. Whether it be okay, we're going to attack and he's going to hit the little slide route that's just leaking out on the other side of the defender or they're going to stay back and Demon is going to tuck in a run, which obviously we've seen how that works at several different points. But I think that's one thing that Kaden Jones would do very, very well at the college level. And again, as these things continue to play out, he's a guy where Washington has been

20:03very intrigued. And I've talked about that at length on the show because he's got that dual sport offer, organic sprinkle on the basketball team, have also extended offer to him. He's got 40 plus offers in total. And I think that the knee injury that he suffered as a sophomore might have made some teams cool on him, just a little bit as other guys continue to break out. But as he's shown that he's healthy, he absolutely has everything that you're looking for in one of the top quarterbacks on the West Coast. So if that winds up being the guy that Washington would prioritize in a situation where let's say Ciano and Icajo chooses Cal, I think that that would be a really nice option for the Huskies to have. But speaking of Cal and Ciano and Icajo, let's talk about that. Obviously the four star quarterback from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, where Cal has been the school that has gained the most traction with a lot of these West Coast guys. Now that Tosh LuPo is the head coach down there. That's something that I'm keeping a very, very close eye on. And he's got two official visits to Cal and UW set up back to back as two of his four where his schedule

21:05right now is Stanford on May 22nd, Cal on May 28th. And then he's going to be at Washington on June 5th before wrapping things up with a trip to Oregon on June 19th. So as I continue to watch that process play out, Ciano and Icajo is somebody where all of those tools, everything you're looking for, that's there as well. It just feels like as Washington has continued to let this class play out and watched everything play out in front of them. It feels like for one reason or another that maybe it was the relationship with Jimmy Dordy. Maybe it was the fact that he had a really nice relationship with Tosh LuPo who has just always been a tremendous recruiter. And he wants to consider Cal a little bit more heavily before making a decision. There are a lot of different factors that have gone into this recruitment. But Washington has put themselves in position where they have several talented options to choose from at the quarterback position. Or I've been able to confirm if Ciano and Icajo is going to be among the unofficial visitors this weekend. But in the case, the very likely case that he could be joining them since he is just a short drive away that if all three of those

22:07guys are on campus this weekend, I'm very curious to see how this recruitment continues to play out. And if it comes out with Caden Jones and Blake Roscoff both also setting official visits. Or if maybe Washington finds its quarterback within let's just call it the next month or so with one of these guys deciding to pull the trigger and saying Washington is the place where I want to be. Those are all things to watch. But I want to switch gears here a little bit because a big time NFL trade might impact the stock of Denzel Boston. 25:17because Denzel Boston did a couple of workouts of the combine but didn't go through everything so we'll see him run and do a whole bunch of other drills on the field and everything like that in front of what will most likely be a significant number of NFL scouts so I'm very interested to see what would happen there and the way the DJ Moore trade factors in is one of the most popular landing spots for Denzel Boston mattress recently has been with the Buffalo Bills where he get paired up with obviously 2024 NFL MVP Josh Allen and I don't necessarily think that this trade would take Denzel away from the bills in any way shape or form I think that they could still go out and invest and have a very similar pairing to what DJ Moore was alongside Roma Dunes a so that's something I wanted to keep in mind but I wanted to throw a couple of other landing spots out there for you in the back half of the first round which seems like the most likely spot for Denzel Boston where the reason I want to bring up this bills thing specifically was it could knock him down

26:19a little bit more where the most recent mock draft released by Lancer line over at NFL.com had Denzel going to the bills number 26 overall and if all of a sudden they don't draft a wide receiver of the first round I could push him down a little bit farther where maybe the San Francisco 49ers I know all you see Hawks fans out there would not want to hear that but that's the landing spot I'm interested in I think the new England Patriots at number 31 the Denver Broncos at number 30 as well would both be interested in picking wide receivers so those are a couple spots that I think could fit Denzel really really well I don't think see Hawks fans would like any of those but it is worth being said a couple other ones that are out there that I know I've highlighted on this show but it's worth rehashing just depending on how a couple of other things fall in the straff to keep an eye on is I would love to see Denzel Boston with the Pittsburgh Steelers mainly because he'd get to reunite with a couple of old teammates in linebacker Carson Bruner who had a phenomenal rookie season by the way and tackled straight out to Anu I I think that would be a lot of fun the one question there is quarterback where would it be Aaron Rodgers

27:22would they want to draft somebody who knows but having a pairing of DK Metcalf and Denzel Boston would certainly be a lot of fun to see not just for Husky fans as that would be a really fun combination of wide receivers but I think that that could very quickly become one of the pre-eminent combinations in the NFL a couple of things fall the right way so that's all stuff that I would certainly highly recommend keeping an eye on over the next couple of months as we continue to see things play out on the NFL side for some pro dogs but one of the more interesting pieces of news is Washington's women's basketball team was tremendous in their first match up in the big 10 tournament on Thursday morning when they took on the USC srogens and crews to a 76 64 win and I came away at that game being extremely impressed with Elidine and obviously it has not been a season to write home about for the senior where she struggled with an injury throughout the majority of the non-conference late and has averages 9.8 points per game this year but you wouldn't have known that if you just turned the game on for Thursday morning because she looked like the preseason all big 10

28:27team honoree that she was coming into the year I could not have been more impressed where she comes out of this game as it's leading score with 25 points which she went 10 to 13 from the field adds six rebounds four assists she had six turnovers but something I'll talk about here in a minute and she was somebody that Washington could absolutely rely on and as we kind of look forward to these next couple of weeks of women's basketball as the Huskies are now going to be matched up with the number one seed in the big 10 tournament and the number two team in the country in the UCLA Bruins the outcome of this game I want to say it's somewhat meaningless obviously if you're able to win that game it would be a massive win for Tina Langley in this program but it's also one of those games where Washington if they weren't already and I absolutely believe they were are now firmly locked into a spot in the big 10 tournament you can obviously improve seating and different things like that the farther you go in the conference tournament but this was a major win for Washington because this team has been so much fun to follow all season long those they're 21st win and you look at it it wasn't just the stars were a savior sellers struggled

29:31in this game she wound up with just four points without making a field goal but was able to chip in in terms of she had five rebounds couple of assists in there as well so this is a team that Washington has really relied on the star power all season long where savior was all big 10 first team honoree every howl the USC transfer was an all big 10 honor of mentioned she was awesome in this game as well 18 points on a seven for nine day from the field with nine rebounds and three assists and it's been fun to watch her brin McGoy before she fell out the five star freshmen from cold facts had 10 points and three rebounds as well Washington has a really really nice core to build around where savior sells them back next season every howl should be back next year for McGoy as well that's a really nice trio to build around and just continue establishing a program that has taken major strides in the last few years on a team of Langley and that's been awesome to see and the one thing I want to I want to end on here is the positives are great because he got some really nice players to build around is the two things I'm concerned about as we creep

30:33closer to the NCAA tournament are turnovers and fouls the Husseys committed 18 turnovers in this game and 22 fouls as well where part of that was just the way USC was playing it was certainly a very physical game at some different points as well so that's something where it's a little bit more match of dependent but 18 turnovers also you have to credit some of that to USC which plays a really nice press defense that certainly there are a couple of careless turnovers light in the fourth quarter that made this game a little closer than it felt but at the same point those are things that Tina Langley and this team need to clean up in the next week plus or so as we get closer to selection Sunday and everything like that but I I look at this husky team and I think they can win a game maybe even two in the NCAA tournament and just build some momentum continue to just build this program forward where you go and you look at Tina Langley's track records since she got here this team has gotten better and better and better every single year and credit to her she's done a tremendous job on the recruiting trail as well but this is something where
