Washington Commanders Sign Kicker Stevens, Sparking Training Camp Rivalry

They passed on grabbing a kicker in the 7th round, opting instead for Rutgers quarterback Athen Kallik-Mannis to shore up their third string spot. Stevens brings a solid college resume from the Hawkeyes, earning four time all Big Ten honors over four seasons from 2022 to 20. He nailed nearly all his extra points, going 124 out of 126, and had his best field goal years at 88.9, and 87% accuracy. Fans and analysts are buzzing about this move since his sets up a real battle in training camp. Both Kickers hail from the Big Ten, which could make for some familiar rival revives as they compete for the starting gig. The incumbent is Jake Moody, who they brought in mid 2025 season, and stuck around for the final six games. He went 10 of 11 on field goals, perfected two of two from 50 yards or longer during that stretch.
