Washington Commanders Extend Drake Jackson, Boost Defensive Line

The Washington commanders are bolstering their defensive line with a one-year extension for defensive end Drake Jackson. This deal follows extensions for two other linemen earlier this week, signaling a push to deepen the front. Jackson first signed with Washington last October, but sat out until the final three games of the season because of a knee injury from the prior year. In those games, he locked three tackles over 61 snaps. A second round picked by the San Francisco 49ers in 2022, Jackson missed most of his time there due to that serious knee problem. Washington stepped in to help him rehab and get back on track. Now with new defensive coordinator Durante Jones calling the plays, the team faces gaps at defensive end. Players like Doran's Armstrong and Javante Jean-Baptiste are returning from their own injuries, but more reinforcements are needed. General manager Adam Peters, who was with the 49ers during Jackson's draft, hopes he regains his pre-injury speed to lock down a roster spot this season.
