Washington Commanders Draft Smooth Operator Antonio Williams

0:00On April 25th, Washington Commander snagged wide receiver Antonio Williams with the 71st overall pick in the third round. Right after, he called himself a smooth operator on the field, running routes, dodging defenders, making crazy catches. Their general manager, Adam Peters, overheard and instantly nicknamed him, Sayday, after the singer. That tag's probably sticking around. Peters loves how advanced Williams is for a college guy. His route running is already NFL sharp, so he could contribute quick in their offense. They had top playmakers available, and zeroed in on him as the best fit. The team needed receiver depth bad. Terry McCorrin's their star, but no clear number two opposite him. Roasters got nine wideouts, but long-term contracts are thin only. McCorrin, Luke McCaffrey, and Jalen Lane locked in through 2027. Williams shines in the slot from Quimson, but he can flex outside too. In his 2024 breakout, he had 317 snaps wide. 75 catches for 904 yards and 11 touchdowns. His separation games elite, 88th percentile, against single coverage, and he dropped his drop rate from 10% to under 2%.
