0:00This is Cory with the story, keeping you informed on what's happening worldwide. You're listening to Global News today. Senator Elizabeth Warren, the top Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee, is pressing Kevin Worsh for details on any ties to the late Jeffrey, Epstein. Worsh, picked by President Donald Trump to chair the Federal Reserve starting in May, had his name pop up in government documents about Epstein. Released this year, Epstein, a convicted sex offender who died in prison in 2019 was already facing charges when those mentions occurred. In a letter sent Wednesday night, Warren laid out eight specific questions. She wants to know if Worsh visited Saint Barthelemy Island around late 2010 or early 2011, attended events with Epstein or Met. Gasoline Maxwell, his associate now behind bars. Warren also asked about any communications with Epstein's circle and whether Trump was at those gatherings. Worsh served as a Federal Reserve governor before and is connected through marriage to the wealthy Lauderd family.

1:03As the committee's ranking minority member, Warren set a deadline of March 31st for his answers, stressing the need for transparency ahead of confirmation hearings. The nomination faces hurdles from a criminal probe into the Fed and current chair Jerome Powell. Republican Senator Tom Tillis says he will hold it up until that investigation wraps up. Powell confirmed Wednesday he will stay in the job until a successor is approved and won't leave the Fed amid the Justice Department review.
