Warming Station Opens in Birmingham: Help Needed

March 17th, it's available from 6 p.m. until morning when temps climb back up. Anyone in need, men, women or children can head to the mission at 3420 Second Avenue North for warm shelter and a hot meal. The station runs just those two nights to help folks beat the colds now. City leaders are pitching in with funding, cuts, and even a police officer onsite for safety. For those without a ride or facing mobility issues, free shuttles pick up from 6 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at the main entrance of Lin Park Park, place in 20th Street North. You can also take the Metro Orange line bus to the Slaus furnace stop with return trips each morning. This set up targets vulnerable people during the harsh weather, providing a lifeline when homes aren't an option. Local efforts like this make a big difference in keeping everyone safer.
