Selimi snapped the picture after documenting a nearby blast the night before. Fixed smoke mixed with heavy clouds kept the city dark well into the morning. It felt like the sun rose hours later than usual, blanketing homes and unusual gloom. For locals, this pollution hits hard, standing close and worsening air quality. Selimi notes is part of a bigger pattern, where fighting disrupts normal routines and harms the environment around them. From his rooftop vantage point, Selimi spotted the dark marks clearly during the clashes. He used a Sony Alpha 1 camera with a 16-35mm lens at F5.6 and 1-1600th of a second shutter speed.
