Director Patrick Hughes stuck with the title War Machine for his new Netflix action movie starring Alan Richardson, even though Brad Pitt, at a film by, the same name years earlier on the platform. Hughes said the name fit perfectly from the start and stayed key to the whole story. He never thought about switching it, but he did wonder for a moment when Pitt's version dropped. Netflix gave the green light anyway since enough time had gone by and the movies were totally different in style and subject. Alan Richardson opened up about how grueling the shoot was for him as the lead combat engineer. He called it the hardest physical test of his career, making him question if he could even power through. The plot centers on Richardson's character, witnessing his brother's death, then tackling Army Ranger training, and a big showdown with a massive. Mechanical Enemy was filmed in tougher motespots in New Zealand, hauling gear by helicopter and battling grade 5 rabbits.
