Wake Prep Students Honor Unknown Soldier

0:00In Durham today, March 13th, a group of eighth-grade students from way-perpetory academy will soon travel to Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Dew. Unknown soldier, they earn this honor through an essay contest on good citizenship. The essays link the school's RAA's values, respect, accountability, integrity, service, and excellence to creating positive change in there, community, state, and nation. These young students see the trip as a way to honor military sacrifices that protect our freedoms today. They want to show appreciation and support for those who served without family, present. Each student has relatives who served in the military. School leaders hope the experience deepens their sense of civic duty and active citizenship. This is the second-year wake prep has sent students for the wreath laying. They believe the lasting impact of those sacrifices will always be felt.
