0:00It's March 29th. From your city to your ears, this is Vancouver News today, powered by AI. I'm Corey with the story. Violet Height from Seton Catholic turned heads at the Tiger invite in Battleground, winning the triple jump with a massive leap of 36 feet, 4 ½ inches, that mark ranks second statewide in class 1A and 8th overall. It was only her second high school triple jump meet, but she's already a top contender for state this spring. She started experimenting with the triple last summer after a strong sophomore long jump season, placing forth at state. Coach suggested it for a junior Olympics tune up and a clicked fast. On Saturday, she also crushed the 400 meters and a personal best of 58.83 seconds, good for 10th in the state across, all classes. How did it love the triple's mix of speed, power, and that hopskip jump rhythm more complex than straight long jump? She grabbed second in long jump too. At 17 feet, 1 ½ inches, right behind Prairie's Yonate Kachenko.
1:03Exhausted, she skipped the triple finals, but anchored her team's relay to second place. Busy days like this are new. Last year at state, she hit top 10s in pole vault, 200 meters and relay. Her goal stays locked, Wednesday titles across events, pushing limits all season. Kama swept the boys and girls' team titles with 19 squats competing, while unions, Ella Koch doubled up in the 816. 100, and Columbia River Boys snagged four wins. How did it's on fire early? Keep watching her soar.
