Vikings Secure Top Comp Pick in 2026 Draft

The NFL has announced the compensatory draft picks for the 2026 draft, and the Minnesota Viking snagged the top one at the fan. 97th overall spot. That's a third round selection they earned, because Sam Darnold signed with the Seattle Seahawks in last year's free agency. This marks the second straight year, the Vikings topped the comp pick list. Last off season, they got the 97th pick in the 2025 draft, after Kirk Cousins joined the Atlanta Falcons, though they traded it. To the Houston Texans, and ended up selecting wire receiver Ty Felton at the 102nd spot. Fans and analysts saw this coming from Minnesota, as these picks were wore teens for losing more key free agents than they gained. The formula also factors in minority hires for head coaches or execs, with just one such pick-awarded league-wide this time. Overall, the league distributed 33 compensatory selections across 15 teams.
