Vikings Lose Punter Ryan Wright to Saints

He agrees to a four-year deal worth $18 million during the legal tampering period of free agency. This comes right after they lost wide receiver Jalen Naylor to the Las Vegas Raiders. Wright joined the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2022 after college at Tulane. He beat out the previous punter and training him and kept the job for four seasons straight. He had some standout moments, like earning special teams, player of the week, honors early on, with 10 punts in one game against the doffens. This past season, he hit a career-best 77-yarder and likely played his strongest year overall. Beyond punting, Wright handled holding duties for the kicker every year, including for Will Reichard, who had a fantastic season. Now with all pro-long snapper Andrew DePole is still unsigned, at least part of the Viking Special Teams Corps will look very different heading into, 2026.
