Vikings Lose Punter Ryan Wright to Saints

The Minnesota Viking Special Teams Unit played a huge role in keeping them competitive during the 2025 season, helping them rally for wins when things look grim. Now they're losing a key player, as punter Ryan Wright has agreed to terms with the New Orleans Saints. ESPN reporter Adam Schefter broke the news on Monday that it's a four-year deal worth $14 million. Wright gets the head back to the New Orleans area, where he starred in college at Tulane University. Wright joined the Vikings as an undrafted free agent back in 2022, and quickly beat out veteran Jordan Vary for the starting punter spot. He posted league-average numbers in most stats, but his value went beyond the box score. What really stood out was his work as the holder for kicker, Will Reichard, steadying him after a rough preseason and training camp. That reliability helped the whole Special Teams group shine. The Vikings might not be done losing pieces, though.
