About this episode
In this episode of The Buckeye Weekly Podcast, Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr debate whether Luke Fahey could be the second quarterback into the game, which Buckeyes they’re most excited to watch, how much Legend Bay might show in his debut, and whether freshmen like Brock Boyd can make an immediate impact.
The guys also get into Ohio State’s offensive line depth, the greatest transfers in Buckeye history, how much the backup offense will actually run, whether Chris Henry Jr. and the tight ends could have big games, and how long Ryan Day might leave the starters on the field against Ball State.
Later, the conversation widens to college football as a whole, including possible dark-horse teams, top-10 teams that could disappoint, Texas, Penn State, Michigan-Oklahoma, and whether Steve Sarkisian is the SEC’s version of James Franklin.

This time, yeah, what about me? Hello everybody, Tony Gurman here. Breaking up the Bold Predictions live show into a couple of separate things here. I wanted to just break out the listener questions, the viewer questions afterwards into its own thing so that you can have them in different pieces. So this is the first half of the question and answer portion, talking about a high estate ball state. Some bold predictions and everything else that popped up on the live stream. And again, we invite you to find us over at bookeyeinsiders.com. And if you are a watcher as well, you can find us at youtube.com slash at bookeyeinsiders. Know that we've got a lot of stuff coming and we've already been showing you and telling you and producing a lot of stuff. So if you want to catch it all, you can do that at youtube.com slash at bookeyeinsiders. Subscribe to the channel, hit the bell to be notified. Leave a comment that helps the algorithm helps it stick with you apparently as well. And also of course, come find us at bookeyeinsiders.com where we're talking about all of this. Thanks. Doug says, Luke Faye, he gets the second quarterback
play for three points. So he is the second quarterback to play as I believe what he's saying. I don't think this would be shocking, but I think as long as this is still considered an open competition, the way you manage it as a coach is to keep the sort of default answer as who's QB2, keep the default answer as the default answer. Because as soon as you make that change, it's hard to go back. So if this does happen, I would be pretty surprised. Not impossible. I don't know. Is this three points? Is this two points? No, I think one max because like stuff that we've heard, it's very likely he could be. But also if you're going to play them both, there's no sense in creating all of the drama of playing him first. And we've talked recently about back in 2020 when you had the back-up quarterback battle between Jack Miller and CJ Stroud. Jack Miller had been committed for a very long time long before CJ Stroud ever thought about Ohio State. Jack Miller
was the first backup quarterback to play in 2020, even though everybody knew that it was actually CJ Stroud. So this one, I think you might see something similar that unless there's just like, if they don't see a future for Tavian, at Ohio State, then I think they would just go ahead and move on. But in terms of the backup, but I'm also saying, if Luke Fahey is the second guy, that doesn't mean they don't see a future for Tavian. Right. Yeah, things can change. You can have the light come on for someone and it doesn't, not all progress is linear there. I'm seeing a lot of names on the chat here who are members of our board. And if you're members of our board at Buckeye Enziders, let people know what is it like? Because we, we're a little bit biased. We're telling you what we think, but we're a little bit biased here. You guys as members, let people know, are you having fun? Is there a lively conversation on the board? Are we letting everyone know that we're telling people the truth? Throw that in the chat as well. Next one from Gavin. What player are you most excited to
watch this week? I feel like I kind of have to say legend Bay, right? I mean, there's a couple, there's a couple other good choices, but I feel like legend Bay, we've just heard so much and through the, you know, the, well, minor hamstring thing in the spring, you know, missed the first couple practices the fall. We keep hearing and we haven't seen and it's just, it's a little like a, you know, big foot or a Sasquatch or, you know, whatever, Harry and the Henderson's. I mean, any, any cryptid you want to choose, it's, you keep hearing about it and it's like, I just, I just want to see it. And so I think, I think it's legend Bay for me. Well, and I think the people need, we all need to realize that he may end up like, like, you know, with three carries for 17 yards, but one of those may be like, oh, I see. And it may only be a three yard gain, but you get to see, that shouldn't have been a three yard gain. So like, that's, I'm looking forward to seeing that, because we've only seen little glimpses and we've seen them make guys miss in fall camp.
Didn't really get to see much in spring in terms of watching him. So it's like, we've seen just little pieces like back when it was Jeremiah's at your freshman, we got to see so much. And it was like, oh, you guys are all in for a treat. Like, we've not gotten to see that from legend, but it's like, that's the sort of stuff you're hearing about him. So yeah, I want to see that. You always want to see the freshman. I am interested to see the sophomore linebackers, Riley Penny, Joe, and TJ Alfred and how they mix in. Honestly, Peyton Pierce being able to run the show and tackle well is going to be a huge key for this defense. Just the tackling portion. I'm interested to see what Earl Little does. Jay Timens like, yeah, it's, this is a, there's so many different things to watch. And Tom, how about this for bold prediction? Brock Boyd outperforms Myland Graham in week one. For outperforms what Myland Graham did at Ohio State or what he's doing against Wisconsin this weekend. Hmm, that's interesting. I assume he must be starting. Last I saw Quincy Porter was still,
yeah, I was going to say Quincy Porter, but he's out. Yeah, he's still, yeah, I think he's, he's still out. So yeah, that's an interesting one. It should not happen. It shouldn't happen. But if it does, then, you know, which, which player does that say more about that's a whole separate interesting conversation. Tyler wants to know why you don't just put Sam Groot, Tydan is an extra offensive lineman on the right side to help out Daniels. Brear has missed some time this month. That's not something we've really talked about, but I know he was not 100% all month. And they've got, I think this is a, they've got Tydan, so they feel pretty good about blocking wise. So, you know, and I'm sure they will have Tydan's over there a decent amount. So I, you know, this is not Sam Greer specifically. I think if you do have a, they call it the Bison package where they'd put a sixth offensive lineman out there on the field over the years. That was, that have been Jackson at one point. I think that was Luke Montgomery at one point. If they have a guy who's doing that this year, I would guess it's probably Josh Padilla who would be that sixth offensive lineman out there. But I think he's,
you know, I, I think they feel good enough based on what they've said. They feel good enough about the Tydan's blocking that I think it's going to be more those guys than a sixth offensive lineman. Yeah, plus right now Sam Greer is like the fifth or sixth tackle. And that's not including Austin Syrivelle. So like, there would be other people in front of him as well. I can jake Cook in terms of you're looking for that sixth guy. It doesn't necessarily have to be a tackle. So I think they have other options that have been out there the entire time. So we've got a bunch of answers now. I've gotten down to the point in the, in the answers where people are talking about who the best transfer in Ohio State history is. And I'll just read through the first time I see names Caleb Downs, Justin Fields, Quinch on Judkins, Will Howard, Ethan O'Neil and what LOL. Well, he's where he's starting for the he's starting for the Falcons, right? Or at least made the roster. So, yeah, that's the roster. Yeah, that's that's a whole fact there that's going to be a fascinating
behind the scenes story at some point. How did how did that all play out? The name that I didn't see there. I think, you know, that Caleb Downs was unsurprisingly one of the names I thought of, Justin Fields was one of the names I thought of. I think there's a decent chance, not a guarantee, but a decent chance that by the time this year's over, the answer could be Julie and Sam. That's a possibility. Now, I think if you look at it and you just say who's the best, you probably say Caleb Downs. I think that's probably in terms of impacted the college level, what he's very left with it at the NFL level. I think I probably have had a field with a phenomenal player at Ohio State and certainly deserves the end of conversation whether it's one or two right now. Will Howard, Quinch, Judkins, I think those are guys who are no matter how you put the list together. I think those guys who are probably top five, top seven, something like that. Jonah Jackson is
probably in that list, Seth McLaughlin. If you've gotten a full healthy season out of the Seth McLaughlin, he won the Rimmington award. I think he's probably on that list. Josh Simmons, IGD. Josh Simmons, Davidson, they've been Oson. Yeah, I mean, they've had some really, really great ones. Where's Julie in saying on that list right now? Right now on my list, I've got him four. Four. Okay. Yeah. I mean, I think he's, I think he's, yeah, fifth-ish, something like that. I mean, it's without, without having putting a ton of thought into it or putting a, don't put a thought, don't put, it gets hard. Yeah, he was a Heisman finalist last year. So I don't, you know, I'm not putting like hard data numbers to this to give you like, oh, he ranks as a 3.04 or something like that. But I do think he's relatively high on the list already with another season as good or better as last season. He's probably moving up that list. And if the team results are better this year and he has kind of a similar year, then he, you're probably having a conversation
about is he, you know, he's on the podium for sure and then just sort of where on the podium does he fall? And in terms of impact, the two most impactful to me are well-houred and Caleb Downes because they won national championships, even though I think Justin Fields is, you know, one of the top two quarterbacks, three quarterbacks in Ohio State history and he's, you know, two years. But like, I think the national championship kind of trumped things a little bit and if you're going to take a quarterback or a safety who's the most impactful between the two when you're talking the most important position in sports. So I don't know, it's a, it's a difficult thing to do. Like I said, don't do it. I wouldn't recommend it. The crazy thing is I'm looking through, you know, you can go through like the 24-7, they've got all the transfer portal stuff. I think then there's, you know, decades before where the first transfer I ever remember was Kent Graham and then like the next one Ohio State had outside of Jucco guys, it's like Anthony Schlagel. He's talking like 14 years between transfers and then after that it's like Justin Borin
and then all that breaks loose with the, you know, with the transfer portal stuff. But it like, this is, there's not the way it used to be, but it is now and you know, Ohio State's making the most of it, I think in which a lot of people didn't think they could and it turns out that they're doing okay. The haters said it couldn't be done. Buck Eyfriex says, first play of the game is a pass play for one point. No, that is zero points. Two points if it goes to the house. First play of the game, first play from Scrimmage goes for a touchdown. I think that is probably at least a two-pointer, but for sure, the game is a pass play. Now, if we read this, the way I'm reading it, the first play of the game is a pass play for one point. If I score one point on the first pass play of the game, that is worth three actually. Yeah, that's true. That's true. I apologize for the I apologize for the misunderstanding. Benjamin says in Ohio State player does a back flip for 17 points. But it has to be near the 34 yard line. At some point, this flip has to end up touching the 34 yard line.
A couple folks, I'm just going through here, a couple guys who are members on our site. Robert says, worth every penny. Come join us. It's a lot of fun on the board. And I would also mention the Friday we're planning an all-day staff chat. So you want to talk about the game, talk about the bug guys, the end of camp, all that stuff. We're going to be doing an all day long there on the message board at BuckeyeInsiders.com. And I mentioned this earlier, but we do have a live event planned in Austin for our members. So if you're going to be in Austin, you're thinking, maybe I'll join. If you're going to be in Austin, you might as well join right now. We'd love to see you there at that live event. Gavin, I started reading this and I'm like, why would you say, oh, okay, so just kidding. Super lively and fun. Everyone on the board gets involved and ask and answers questions 10 of 10 would recommend. So there you go. Troy says, anyway, we can get at least one offensive line guy for interviews at press conference as Luke was hilarious yesterday and handled the day interrupting him in a funny manner. Yeah. And if you watch the Carson Hinsman press conference on Tuesday, yeah, I would be 100% fine with at least one offensive line at every press
availability. They are, I don't know what exactly it is, but they are all very funny. Yeah, and Ian Moore has his own style as well. And all of these guys. And then Philip Daniels was fantastic last year when we talked him talking to him in the spring as well. It's a very confident guy who likes to talk about violence inflicted towards defensive lineman a lot. So he's always fun as well. But Guy Freak says he wouldn't count, say, and never played anywhere else. What did we say about technical wins? It's the best kind of win. McLaughlin definitely had an impact in the offensive line but he didn't get to play a full season. Yeah. And that's if Seth McLaughlin was the starting center on a national championship team and the Rhemington award winner, he probably moves up the list. The injury probably moves him, kind of holds him down. But again, he played what? Nine games as a Buckeye and we're talking about him as a top seven or eight transfer all time. Yeah, that was a pretty impactful nine games or so. Yeah, same with Josh Simmons. Those were two great guys. They won the championship without them. So it knocks them down a little
bit. But I've also gotten this pushback on Twitter when talking about this. Julian Sain is 1,000 transferred. He was in the portal. So I know people don't want to talk about it. But in terms of this, the technicalities of it, he is absolutely part of the transfer portal talk. Troy says you can definitely argue Josh Simmons, Seth McLaughlin, they help write the ship at offensive line after slum center cruding. And that's, I mean, they deserve a lot of credit for good internal evaluations, recognizing what do you need, what are you missing, where did you miss before and how do you fix that? And I know Justin Fry was not the most universally popular person with the fan base while he was here. But he got stuff, he got stuff, got the house in order. And I think Tyler Bowen has done a probably a better job in recruiting than Justin Fry did. But overall in terms of just taking what he had and turning it into a pretty good unit on the whole, I think Justin Fry does deserve some credit for Ohio State. Yeah, Doug says Anthony Schlagel's
a transfer has had a long impact. Here's an interesting one. We talked about maybe, maybe Julian Sain is on the list after this year. Connor Hawkins, what he says now, listen, how many, how many games does Connor Hawkins have to win to show up on the top five or so of that transfer list? Which game? If it's ball state, he gets sorry. Yeah. Yeah. If you can, if you can be the Adam Venetary of college football and when a, when a, if hey, if the bucket is in the Super Bowl and Connor Hawkins kicks the game winning field bowl, you know, imagine being the Ohio State kicker who kits the game winner in a national championship like you, your life is set. You don't, you know, now Connor Hawkins is only a sophomore, runs your sophomore, so technically a junior now, granted, if you do it this year and you return, that would be a mistake. Don't come back and screw this up. That's it. Costanza, like I'm out. Going out at a high note. Good bye everybody. 100% do not come back. Robert says, oh, great, all day chat. I'm not going to get anything done
at work tomorrow. Appreciate it guys. Any excuse. Yes. Listen, we get it. This is, we understand what the week before the first game is like and everyone's brain has already started to think about ball state. I'm sure a certain segment of the fan base is already starting to think about the Saturday after ball state and what's going to happen in Austin, Texas. So yeah, we are doing our very best between the all day chat on our board on Friday and we're dropping extra podcasts this week. We're dropping bonus shows, clipping a bunch of interviews that we got to do with players and coaches this week to try and get to give you guys as much stuff as we can. You can find that on Bucket Insiders.com. The live chat is on our members only message board, the insiders board. You can sign up today. It can access to that. But you can find those bonus shows on the Buckets tomorrow morning podcast feed, the Bucket Weekly podcast feed. And as Tony said, he and Juck are to be recording an episode of the time and change. We'll surely show. So you can subscribe to that there on your wherever you get the other shows. You can get that one as well. Now, here's one I really don't agree with. Thank you. A bird says hi. I'm Tony's burner.
And then says death taxes and Tony's predictions being inherently bold. This is your year. This is our year. And also you you would you missed time. We missed up cut out. This is your year again. I think in my way of cutting cut off there. But yes, thank you very much. We're going to be strong like we always are. And really the toughest part is just as you know, dealing with Tom. Oh my gosh, you can't be serious. You think making the pick is the hard part? No, it's not. The pick takes like three seconds. You know, it's hard. The sweat, the time between locking in and cashing out. Yeah, you have a take. But in the end, it's not about the winners or losers. This is about us, man. Whether we're brave enough to sit through it, don't fight the sweat. Live in it because you are an underdog. Underdog. At least you're dog. Thumbs me up live. Hey sports fans. Tell them Dennis Robman sent you. Gavin says he says Smith. I must be Jeremiah Smith. Catch us all with his feet jumping from the 17-yard line. One point. Listen if he catches a ball taking off from the one-yard line. I was thinking he was scoring a touchdown where he's taking off from the 17 and jumping into the end zone. I thought that's probably worth more than one point because that would be a world record. But yeah, catches the ball with his feet jumping from the 17-yard line. This
is random enough that I think we have to allow this. Well, and the other thing with Jeremiah, you've got to come up with some different things to get one point to be able to justify because we've seen so much from him. So yeah, I might even go to catching a ball with his feet, jumping from a specific point. That's, that's two. Dr. Ozzy Dragon says, do we win the title without Wil Howard? He had to be the most important one. This is my point. Yeah, and it's a fair one. Do they win the title in 2002 without Craig Crenzel? I mean, you look, watch out my Emmy game. I don't know that they do. And VB. But also, I don't know if that means Craig Crenzel is the most important player on that team because I don't know if they win that title without Mike Doss or Will Smith or any number of Michael James. So you're saying Devin Brown or Kyle McCord? I mean, Kyle McCord took them two within 20 yards of the playoffs. So like, there's that. But also, Will Smith and Will Howard. But like, it's just really hard to diminish what Will Howard did because
of the way he played. And I already played in the leader that he was. And you saw other quarterbacks who were better fall short and other quarterbacks who are worse fall short. So, that's tough. Like I said, don't put your top 10 together. You're not going to like it. He was, he was the exact right guy for this moment for what they needed on that team. Doesn't mean he was the best, but he was exactly what they needed. Just as we said, when he transferred, like, we were adamant, boy, they're going to win a national championship with this guy. The guy from Kansas States who is remarkable. I think I remember Michigan fans being in the chat when we were talking about that and saying that, I'm not sure what the tone was. But if it was not sarcastic, they called it. That was right into them. Okay. Freak says, if Connor Hawkins feel it finds a way to not have to kick a field goal all season, make the due to captain next year. Yeah, he's going to kick field goals. The question is, does he kick a game winning field goal in the final minutes of a game or something like that? Doug said, downs made touchdowns, saving tackle in the playoffs. Downs made touchdowns, saving tackles a lot. Yeah. And I think there's a very good chance
he's number one on this list for me. But I think like that's the one that makes the most sense. But without him, you've got like Willie Kartford and Jalen McLean and you know, Fahin Delaide. Or not last year, but in 2024, I think, yeah, there's, there's not a lot there without him, but they would have signed somebody else. But whatever that had been like a Terry Moore type, you know, it's like you have expectations and maybe it doesn't meet them. Like the number one answer on the board is going to be Caleb Downs. But there's always people who give, you know, their number one answer is not the same as everybody else. And so I, I signed with the quarterback over safety generally every time. Yeah. Tuckis says, I'm behind, but if Ohio State gets a one point safety in the first pass of the game, that's beyond a three pointer. That's at least a five. They would have to, so in order to get a one point safety on the first pass of the game, you would have to have a drive where you either just ran back to kickoff for a touchdown, the defense quarter touchdown, or you just ran the ball the entire
way down the field, scored a touchdown. And then you went for two, you threw it, the player intercepted it and then you tackled them in the end zone. That would be how you would get a one point safety on your first pass of the game. I think that might be more than five points because I'm not sure they're going for two on the opening touchdown. Other than that, all could happen. Absolutely. Never go full Dan landing. Okay. Fork says catching the ball with your feet is a three pointer, even if you're germine. Yeah. This is, this is like the sign fellable pro nio had to catch the ball in his hat. That's a, how about this time catching, Jeremy, I'm catching the ball with his feet is two pointer, one foot, that's three. That's yeah, one handed, one handed catch. Yes, one footed catch. I think they might be checking your equipment, but you know, it's, it's, it's, it's not going to like those pleats. If anyone can do it, Murphy wants to know, is it confirm that Oregon is a 330 kickoff? That's not official official official yet, but that's what we've been expecting all season. And it's what we're hearing right now is going to be the thing, but I
don't believe they've officially announced that, but I would go ahead and plan. We are planning a members only tailgate for that game and we are planning on that being a 330 kickoff as we are planning that event. So you can go ahead and do with, with that information, what you will. Hey, did you see Tom anything about this, the Ohio State 2026 season pin set? Yes. Yes. Did you notice any of the themes on those? Well, I saw the Northwestern one had a black helmet, which is strongly suggestive that they're going to wear their, what they call the tunnel vision uniforms for the Northwestern game and not the, the Oregon game, which is what we had sort of expected. That to me tells me that the team has either been told or is, you know, very, very likely expecting that they will be a big 10 network game at 730 p.m. for Northwestern, because they have to be on big 10 network at least once during conference play. They're going to be on big 10 network this weekend, but they have to be on their once in conference play. There are not
that many games that would be big 10 network worthy this season. The Northwestern game is probably one that would be the most big 10 network worthy, certainly the most big 10 network worthy in terms of home games. And so then that could very well, if they're wearing the black helmets for that game, the black jerseys for that game, that's probably a night game, which then that kind of all sort of fits together. I will also say the Maryland pin seems to have a moon above homecoming. And Ohio Stadium, the North Rotunda is surrounded by darkness, which implies night. We know it's going to be a 330 or 730 kick, but I would also say the ball state pin also has darkness behind Ohio Stadium. And we know that's a 1230 kick. So again, pin science, not exactly a a universally understood and believed science. Dr. O'Regan says, no way would have beaten Miami without Crenzel. And Buck, I freak says Downs also sealed the win versus Texas. Yes, and yes.
Don't put your list together. Troy says Howard had great pocket awareness. I hope Julian can get even half as good this year as well, wasn't 24. It's great. Nobody had another area. So yeah, I mean, it's you have better in some areas, not as good another. You don't generally get all the sliders up the 10 in all areas. Maybe with Jeremiah Smith, maybe with Caleb Downs, other than that, it does not happen very often. Get also know why Oregon game would not get game. Is that the I'm not looking right now? Is that the same week as the one game? I think that's Notre Dame Miami. That night. Yeah, it's Notre Dame. Yeah, NBC had a game that night already. A Notre Dame is playing a night in there. So therefore, the big 10 is not going to have its night slot that weekend. So that's to be it. See, it did. I don't believe it even got to NST in the order of picks. The first three weeks that were picked. And we've talked about this before, but the networks pick weeks where they're going to have the first pick. And the Fox has the first three picks. They picked the week of Ohio
State Michigan, the week of Ohio State, Indiana, and the week of Michigan, Oklahoma. CBS has the next pick. They picked the week of Ohio State, Oregon. So it didn't even get to Notre Dame to NBC. NBC had the next week, next pick. And they picked the Penn State USC game, which is going to be the Whiteout game. So that's that's why the game would not be 8 p.m. Because NBC didn't even have a choice to to do that. Jordan wants to know who's your dark horse team this year? And what team do you see in the top 10 under performing? Who is this year's Penn State? Oh, I'm going to be on the Louisville bandwagon for a little while. But in the top 10, can I say, do I say Indiana? No, I'm going to say Texas say it. No, I'm going to say all men. No, yeah, all men is being at nine. I can go with that. I think Trinidad Chameless maybe maybe takes a step back. And I just think, you know, obviously having that kind of schedule is going to be difficult. But
overall, like I don't really have a great feel for like somebody where it's like, oh, obviously this program is going to tank. I am interested to see Indiana continue on as they rebuild that roster again. I don't know. What do you think Tom? I think that this is largely a schedule pick. I largely think that Penn State might be like an 11 and 110 and two kind of team. But they're bad. They're I don't think they're great. And I don't think they're a national championship team by any means. But I think they could get into the playoffs for sure. People aren't talking about as a team that you get into the playoffs. Like I think people are talking about USC and Michigan and even Washington. I've heard people talk about people aren't just aren't talking that much about Penn State. I think they might sneak in. And I think they get in as the 10 seed and lose to the 7 seed in the first round. And it's not necessarily even like a real thrilling game. But I think they could get in. Watch it. It's good. It's tougher than the last days. Top 10 team that's underperforming. I think Ole Miss is a good shout. I think you could you could kind of take anyone
from that tier of the SEC. You want to tell me it's Oklahoma. Sure. You want to tell me it's LSU. Sure. You want to tell me it's Ole Miss. Sure. You want to tell me it's Texas A&M. Sure. I think you're just you're going to have a couple. This is the time of year when you know the SEC has 10 of the top 14 teams or whatever the ridiculous number is. And it's like well yeah but a bunch of those teams are going to finish 5 and 7 and it's not just because they all had to play extremely tough schedules. It's just you're assuming everything's going to go right for them and it's not going to go right. So you know take your pick of one of those. Yeah. What do you say Texas has changed the spiral with a tough schedule not to Penn State level but forced losses is not out of the question. And that's yeah that's absolutely true just with your schedule being what it is. And Ohio State Ohio State is in this kind of this conversation as well with the schedule being what it is. If you have a couple injuries in key spots you could lose 3-4 games and you know especially because your these two teams are playing each other out of conference someone's going
to have a loss whoever loses that game that reduces your margin for error to get it in the playoff quite a bit. Now it also means whoever wins that game has this incredible win on their resume already and that's going to be something you're hearing about on the college football playoff selection shows all fall. So I don't think that's a you know I don't I don't think it's a bad thing that they're playing those but you could certainly see either of those teams you know if things it's probably not everyone's fine and everyone's healthy and then it just falls apart just because of the general bloody mindedness of the of the universe but I could see you get an injury or two in key spots you could see someone like that. And and four losses would then allow Steve's occasion to not blame playing Ohio State for not making the playoffs so that would be good. Yeah yeah Doug says four losses in season at Texas will get start fired yeah that's that's a real possibility as well. Just gonna yeah Doug says you would like to see you see a lag at bowl eligible yeah I I'm looking forward to UCLA Cal this weekend. Yeah yeah that's that's
going to be an interesting game that's that's going to be a lot of fun. I am a big big fan of now I'm liking on his name the James Madison coach who was previously a political pro Bob Chesney thank you goodness I thought you're gonna say the Cal quarterback I'm like I can't know Kelly Sangapulletelli yeah no Bob Chesney I think is gonna do some big things that UCLA they have financial stuff that is probably going to limit exactly how big he can go there but I think he's gonna be probably some more bigger and better in a matter of three to five years or so Gavin wants to know is Sark the SEC's version of James Franklin. Oh who who else would it be you know Lane Giffin no I like that one that's good where yeah yeah Buck I freak says it's Kirby Kirby smart but no Kirby smart has two national championships like he didn't yeah he part of it was they they oh I mistake Mr. Feeville but they won a national
championship year before that so it's definitely it is definitely not Kirby smart I I think it's a real possibility that it's Sark as he's gotten Texas it's not a bad comp because Texas was not at this level before and he's gotten them to this level where they're like a 9 10 win team and it's like oh that's much better than before and now everyone's not happy with that but can he get over that next hump and get them to the because they were they made the playoff two three years ago 2023 and lost of Washington I think they were 11 and one that year so yeah I you know he's he's kind of gotten there I guess James Franklin had an 11 one season two so yeah all right Gavin saying maybe Kaelin DeBor I don't not yet Kaelin DeBor has not been around long enough to be an established guy that just can't get it done or has like one thing that he cannot get over being like Ohio State Kaelin DeBor doesn't necessarily have an Ohio state yet he's got too many other issues
Doug says he'd love to see LSU collapse this season you and seemingly a subsection of the SEC's presidents as well from what reports have been yeah just refreshing Twitter and it's like you've got people outside the courtroom for the for LSU against the SEC and it's like okay if that's a battle you want to fight either one of you football starts tonight I don't know if they're aware the the roster's have to be locked in what tomorrow I believe so like all right uh here's here's one that we will probably yeah what he says DeBor wishes he was at Franklin's level you know I think DeBor has to get credit for what he did at Washington too where they had you know you got Washington which was not a playoff team into a four team playoff a couple years ago so he probably deserve you know what the the guy who follows Nick Sabin was always going to have a bad time that is not a thing that you could really reasonably expect to do but he still that was you know he's not going
it's not going great even with the you can't follow Nick Sabin exception and also it probably was not news to Kaelin DeBor that he was following Nick Sabin and that that was probably not going to be real easy but you know money so it all worked yeah right yeah that's what the money's for uh so there you go time we good I mean well I was going to hit one more from Dr. Zagragan here thoughts on the Michigan Oklahoma game next week we'll we'll dive into this more on Michigan Monday on the Buck I Weekly Feed but you know early thoughts there I think Michigan's got a much tougher opponent than Ohio State does this weekend so you're going to look and go Michigan's playing a Mac team Ohio State's playing a Mac team why did Ohio State beat them by three touchdowns more than Michigan did and kind of Texas and Texas State is sort of the same thing where Texas State is way better than ball state so you know I would not consider that an apples to apples thing but I I'm fascinated we're you hear one thing about Bryce Underwood but you sure haven't seen it yet and okay what is that going to look like this week and then what is that going to look like when you've got uh Oklahoma
and Brent Venables on the other side line and is he confusing Bryce Underwood in the way that you sort of saw him confuse Bryce Underwood last year. Bryce Underwood last year was a true freshman how much better does he look against Oklahoma this year than last year that's going to be what tells me a lot about how this whole season is going to go for Michigan. Yeah Michigan has the home field advantage I think Oklahoma has the defensive advantage they've got the quarterback advantage the experience of seeing more things this is going to be a new thing for Bryce Underwood dealing with the Oklahoma defense and in this offense so not only you know he's playing a new offense he's asking being asked to do more and understand more than he did last year and then he's dealing with a defense that will only have like one you know one game on film so I'm still thinking like Michigan should win this if they are a playoff team they should win at home but also like all of the the tangibles are like yeah but Oklahoma is probably better defensively and I think it'll be better offensively and you know how many points wins that game is 2027 is that a short
thing is 24 probably a good thing yeah some more right right 2526 seven four right there a couple super stars earlier that for not to get to that were bold predictions would he say three-pointer Christmas and junior blocks they kick that's that's a good guy on that one yep yep and drasadragans has saying months for over 20 yards runs in one touchdown it's Texas something chew on that might be two points you know one for each of those because he's never done either of them mm-hmm yep all right there you go all right and as says there please take a second to go ahead and hit the thumbs up if you're watching and if you're interested in more talking about a iostata as we've sent throughout the show come find us over at buckeinsiders.com the absolute best way to support what we do is to join us over there we'd love to see a tons of interaction thank you for so many thank you to so many of you who have and thanks to the folks over there who are watching here and all of that building a community we'd love to see over there that will do it
