Acting President Delsey Rodriguez announced that diplomatic dialogue is the best path to resolve their differences. The U.S. State Department confirmed the move on Thursday. Rodriguez shared her thoughts in a post on X, directed at President Donald Trump. She stressed Venezuela's desire for long-term ties built on mutual respect, equality, and international law. The goal is stronger cooperation that benefits both nations' relations broke down in 2019. Back then, the Trump administration rejected Nicolas Maduro as leader after a disputed election. Instead, they recognized an opposition lawmaker as Venezuela's president, prompting Caracas to cut ties. Tensions boiled over earlier this year. In January, U.S. forces captured Maduro after months of strain. That sparked big changes, including Rodriguez stepping in as interim president.
