This comes right before the 2026 season kicks off on March 6th, and it could push back the start even as teams wrap up preseason. Negotiations between the Players Association and the League have dragged on since August 2024, after the old agreement expired on December 31st, 2025. They've agreed on 12-month contracts, but talks are stuck over buy-out terms and standard health insurance for all players. About 90% of players shot down the league's latest proposal this week.
