US Submarine Sinks Iranian Warship

Earlier this week on Monday, the attack took place around 5 a.m. local time off the coast of Sri Lanka. Officials there identified the vessel as the IRIZ Denna, which was traveling in international waters. The ship had 180 people on board. Sri Lankan authorities reported at least 80 deaths from the torpedo hit. They quickly set naval vessels to the scene, rescuing 32 crew members and rushing them to a local hospital. Sri Lanka's Foreign Affairs Minister confirmed the details in Parliament, noting their rapid response starting around 6 a.m. Hegseth shared the news. During a Pentagon press conference that same Wednesday morning, tensions in the region remain high, as both sides assess the fallout from this rare naval clash.
