Arctic ice melt has opened new shipping lanes, letting Russian and Chinese ships cruise close to Greenland shores. Trump has stressed Denmark can't defend it alone, and now Northern Command's General Gregory Geo is leading the charge for expanded U.S. presence. Right now, the U.S. only has a steady spot at Potufix Space Base of North, handling missile defense with a few hundred troops. But Geo wants permanent spots for special forces and Navy units too, using spots with deep water ports and big runways. They're eyeing Narsar Suwak in the south, for its port, and Kangirlusuwak in the southwest for heavy aircraft landings, both former U.S. bases from World War II and the Cold War, now sitting idle. A third site's under wraps, all building on a solid 1951 defense pact.
