US-280 Closure: Plan Ahead for Weekend Demolition

Birmingham Drivers, take note, the Alabama Department of Transportation starts closing all lanes on US 280 at Pumhouse Road this Friday, March 20th at 11pm. The full shutdown wraps up Monday, March 23rd by 6am. This work is part of a big project to demolish a bridge and widen US 280 to 4 lanes each way from Lakeshore Parkway to Interstate 4, 59. Pumhouse Road serves as a main entry to Kahaba Heights and Vistavia Hills, right near Kahaba Village, with its whole foods and clothes to Dolly Ridge. Road, a popular shortcut to the colon aid. Eastbound lanes toward the summit stay closed the whole time until Monday morning, while Westbound lanes toward downtown Birmingham reopen daily at 5am and shut again at 11pm.
