UPDATE on Gold & Silver Data Provider ION Cyber Attack and MORE

We are doing a follow-up on ION Trading Technologies cyber attack and what is the #CFTC doing  Gold & Silver Data Provider #ION Under #CYBER Attack: The FBI Steps In Where are you #CFTC?   Clarifying points: The article I read had the FBI investigating Lockbit including this case, not that they were investigating the CFTC. Also, we are missing most of the details we need for proper attribution. While this looks horrible for ION and by extension the CFTC and possibly the CME Group, more needs to be known on how they got into the network, how they compromised the systems, ALL of the indicators of compromise (IOCs) for the attack, and whom is the ultimate responsible party. While we also know the data held by ION was encrypted and more than likely compromised in other ways, we don't know whether CME Group nor ION can provide a clean copy of that trading data. I have not seen news announcements on this part of the investigation. We will stay tuned to this story as details come out, and I will give my unfiltered opinion on what maybe is not be said. Because if there is a truism in security, it is that most security incidents (nor their details) are never fully reported in public
