本集主題：北港義民廟

兩百多年前，乾隆52年(1787年)，臺灣發生了「林爽文事件」，而就在北港義民廟現址，108位由在地居民組成的義勇軍及一頭靈犬，為了對抗林爽文的軍隊，戰勝慶功卻被夜襲犧牲，歷經戰亂後，乾隆皇帝御賜「旌義」匾，褒揚這群「閩南籍義士」。
而在地仕紳禮請北港朝天宮法師，將此事件義民遺骸於現地合葬、立塚。
本廟自農曆五月二十六日左右開始祭典活動，北港鎮內各個子弟軒社至廟口排場演奏，曲樂獻神，以慶祝義民廟廟慶，紀念義民爺公成仁千秋。2024北港旌義義民爺公祭典 義民爺公普
經由皇帝的御賜【旌義】匾，隨著時代的演進，#笨港義民爺公 及 #義犬將軍 逐漸成為在地居民的守護神，也是實實在在的本土神祉。
