شمخانی در واکنش به انتشار ویدئوی عروسی دخترش و موج گستردهٔ انتقاد عمومی گفت: «همه در یک کشتی هستیم؛ با اختلاف، کشتی را سوراخ نکنیم.» اما این «همه» چه کسانی را شامل می‌شود و آن «کشتی» دقیقاً چه نام دارد؟
این جمله که به‌ظاهر دعوتی به خویشتن‌داری است، در عمقِ خود هشداری مستقیم به رقبا و جناح‌های درون حاکمیت است: «تسویه‌حساب‌ها را رها کنید، زیرا هر شکافی ممکن است به فروپاشی مشترک بیانجامد.»

But who exactly does this “we all” include, and what is the real name of that boat”
