山西新住民，嫁來台灣生活已經超過20年，山西年節習俗有，24日為大掃除之日，俗稱「胡打掃日」。從這天以後，開始過年準備工作。
過去太原有一段民謠：「二十五磨豆腐，二十六趕做活，二十七去趕集，二十八糊貼扎，二十九去打酒，三十日包餃子。貼紮，指各種對聯、年畫、窗花、門神等。
除夕之夜，各家通宵不眠，俗稱「鏖歲'」。雞鳴之時，開始焚香、燃燈、擺供品、放花砲、接神、祀祖，然後合家互相拜年。兒童向長輩叩頭拜年，長輩則賜以壓歲錢，以取吉利。按照傳統習慣，太陽出來前就要吃罷早餐。早餐之後，出門拜年，互道吉祥話語「恭賀新禧」、「恭禧發財」、「年年如意」之類。
