Manchester has set to benefit, uniform for all and Rochdale recycles pre-loved uniforms and has given free outfits to over 2,000 families in just six years. The Volunteer Group covers 81 local schools with a stock of more than 500 items. The project started during the pandemic and now handles requests through an anonymous online store, with parents picking up bags from 16. Libraries, they've distributed over 15,000 pieces so far, especially in areas where 40% of children live in poverty. Demand has doubled recently, peaking in July and August before the new school year. Single parents and families with growing kids say it's a game changer, saving money on jumpers, blazers, shoes, and even specialist users avoid spending a fortune on fast-growing wardrobes, freeing up cash for food and essentials.
