Hey, it's Corey, with Durham News Today, your city, your news, every day. North Carolina softball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 10-2 to Boston College in the final game of their Atlanta coast, conference series. The tar heels entered with a 17 wins one loss record and two wins one loss in conference play, while the Eagles improved to six wins 12. Losses and one win two losses in the ACC. The game started with solid defense from UNC, shutting down Boston College early, but a key fielding air and just three hits for the tar heels opened the door for the Eagles to pull ahead. Junior infielder Emily Leggett provided the highlights for North Carolina, driving in a run with a single in the third inning and blasting a home run. In the sixth to cut the deficit, still, the tar heels couldn't mount a full comeback. Southern college capitalized with timely hits and added runs late, including a lead off homer and three more in the seventh to seal the win.

This marks UNC's first blimish after a dominant start to the year. The tar heels bounce back Wednesday with a midweek game against Stetson at 5 p.m. back at Anderson softball stadium.
