UNC SCiLL Investigation Closed, Enslaved Laborers Found

The seven-month probe looked into complaints at the two-year-old school, but university leaders are standing by Dean Jed Akkins and moving forward. CLL plans a busy summer, with research fellowships for juniors, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, including a seminar at Oxford University. They will also host civics institutes for high school students and teachers, plus new graduate programs in military leadership and civics education. A $10 million grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities will fund endowed professorships. Faculty who raise concerns feel dismissed, pointing to high turnover, and claims of retaliation since none of the original instructors remain.
