UNC's Heartbreaking Loss to Clemson

0:00On March 13th, here's the latest out of Durham. North Carolina dropped a heartbreaker to Clemson, 80-79 in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals. The number, 19 Tar Heels, trailed by double digits late, but coach Hubert Davis kept yelling from the sidelines for his team to fight back hard. It was their second Gritty matchup in 10 days, and Clemson held on for the win. The Tar Heels started strong with a six-point lead in the first five minutes, but then hit a shooting slump. By the first half's under eight-time out, they had taken nine three pointers and made just two. Davis ripped into them for not attacking the paint, sparking a brief response that cut the deficit to two points before half-time. And Revesar set the tone early for UNC with a block-and-quit buckets, finishing with 28 points and 17 rebounds, his career highs, and 14th double-double this season. Still, Clemson used balance scoring to build a 12-point lead midway through the second half. Down 73-58, with under four minutes left, North Carolina unleashed a 21-7 run to close the gap to one.

1:07A late three-pointer made it 80-79, but Clemson iced it with free throws and an intentional miss to run out the clock. Clemson advances to face number one Duke and Friday semi-finals.
