UCF's Malachi Lawrence Drafted by Cowboys

He's the first night to go that high since Mike Hughes back in 2018, marking just the fifth first rounder in school history. Lawrence, hailing from Louisville, balled out over five seasons with UCF, turning into a Big 12 beast last year. He ranked fifth in sacks with seven, seventh in tackles for loss with eleven and wrapped with 28 total tackles starting all twelve games. His stock skyrocketed after that NFL combine in February where he blazed the 4.52 in the 40 yard dash one of the quickest for edge. Rushers, that speed plus first team all Big 12, nods in honorable mention for defensive lineman of the year had teams buzzing. UCF edges coach Mike Dawson says Lawrence is prime for the pros with skills that translate smooth to any scheme, whether three four or four down.
