It's April 23rd. Welcome in. This is NFL News Today, where the league meets AI. I'm Cory with the story. Ty Simpson, that former Alabama quarterback, is picking up serious buzz for a first round spot in the 2026 NFL draft. Since the AFL NFL merger back in 1970, Alabama's only sent 4 QBs into the top 32 picks, making this a rare club for Simpson to crash. Picking it off was Richard Todd, snatched up sixth overall by the New York Jets in 1976. Then came a 44-year wait until Tuatago Viloa went fifth to the Miami Doffins in 2020. A year later, Mac Jones landed 15th with the New England Patriots in 2021, followed by Bryce Young as the number one overall pick to, the Carolina Panthers in 2023. These guys have mixed bags in the pros. Tuat leads with a 44 and 32 record, 18,166 yards, and just 59 picks. Todd threw for over 20,000 yards, but more interceptions than scores,

while Jones and Young sit around 12,000 and 8,000. Yards respectively, still grinding as back ups or starters. Simpson's rise can make him the fifth BAM of QB in that elite first round circle, first since Young, and Scouts are feeling his vibe heading into. Draft season.
